TRANSCRIPT
Roberto Clemente
● He was often mocked for his heavy Spanish accent. ● He was an advocate for equitable treatment of Latinx
baseball players, in which he took great pride. ● Known for his hitting prowess and his unbelievably
accurate, strong throwing arm (he could throw from the outfield all the way in to home plate), Roberto Clemente enjoyed a career with a . 317 lifetime batting average and achieving an even 3,000 hits.
He contributed to major league baseball’s successful integration of Latino players long before the United States recognized it needed to develop sensitivity for multiculturalism.
All students welcome. A safe space to share, learn, and inspire.
