WCCU invites customers, public to meet financial services managerWESTERLY — Jamal Paire has been promoted to financial services manager for WesterlyCommunity Credit Union’s main office. He will be responsible for overseeing all branch operations,staffing and member needs. Jamal previously held the position of assistant financial servicesmanager for WCCU’s Richmond office and has more than 18 years of experience in the bankingindustry. He resides in New London with his children.

South County Hospital earns top Medicare, Medicaid rating

WAKEFIELD — South County Hospital announced last week that it had received the highest grade of5­Stars in the recently published Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating issued by the federal Centersfor Medicare and Medicaid Services. The hospital was among the top 2.2 percent in a national surveyof 4,599 hospitals. The survey covered safety of care, patient experience, effectiveness andtimeliness of care, and efficient use of medical imaging. In all, 64 quality indicators were measuredand graded by CMS.

Lou Giancola, president and CEO of South County Health, said the hospitalwas the only one in Rhode Island to receive the top rating: “It validates thehard work and efforts our staff put in day after day to ensure that our healthcare system performs up to our own high expectations.” He added, “We arefortunate to have many high performing health­care systems in our state.It’s difficult to measure all variables using any one rating mechanism. But itis beneficial to all health­care consumers to have these types of tools attheir disposal when they are making very important health­care decisions.”The hospital is a component of South County Health, which also encompasses home health andsurgical supply units, and South County Medical Group.

NARRAGANSETT — Robin Garceau has joined Lila Delman Real Estate International as a salesassociate and as an interior designer for Delman’s new Lila’s Lifestyle division. “This will be thebeginning of adding other valuable services for our clients in order to streamline their lives, as we livein a busy world. This alleviates the stress sometimes associated with the purchase or sale of ahome,” said Melanie Delman, company president. Lila’s Lifestyle will encompass interior designservices and partnerships with what it calls “luxe brands,” including art, automobiles, yachts andjewelry.

Garceau, of Robin Garceau Interiors, Cranston, received her real estate license in 2011 and has 20years experience working with homeowners, builders, real estate developers, and business owners.She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rhode Island College’s fine arts program and is alongstanding member of the Interior Design Society. The new division will be based at Delman’scorporate office, “The Tower” at 41 Ocean Road, Narragansett.

Downtown businesses holding First Friday evening specialsThe Westerly­Pawcatuck Downtown Business Association has started First Friday monthly eveningevents and special promotions. A number of the businesses had extended hours. The initial FirstFriday Fan Fair — “a monthly celebration of all the good stuff downtown as to offer” — was held thispast Friday. The next one will be Sept. 2.

L.L. Bean to open store in CranstonCRANSTON (AP) — Maine­based retailer L.L. Bean will open the doors of its first Rhode Islandlocation at the Garden City Center in Cranston on Aug. 12. The space was previously occupied byOfficeMax. A company spokesman said that L.L. Bean was attracted to Garden City for its open­airplan, proximity to an urban area and “good brand alignment” with fellow tenants. The Cranston storeis the company’s 28th location outside of Maine.

PROVIDENCE — Residential Properties Ltd. reported last week that it had completed the sale of 25Ayers Road in Westerly for $1.5 million. The firm, which says it is the largest privately held real estatecompany in Rhode Island, represented both sides of the transaction, with Mary Ann Lisi as the listingagent and Lynn Leffray as the selling agent. Both are sales associates with RPL’s Narragansett office.The renovated shingled cottage overlooks the western edge of Quonochontaug Pond, and LongIsland Sound, and has an outdoor shower and a shared dock plus a mooring. It has three bedrooms,two­and­a­half baths, an office and two­car garage.

Lisi has received the Kent Washington Association of Realtors Circle of Excellence Gold Award.Leffray has been in the real estate business since 2003.
