Robles Elementary School
honored their October Students
of the Month.
The students who received this
honor had been selected by their
teacher for always behaving
above and beyond in class. They
were kind, considerate, followed
directions, were responsible and
helped take care of others.
Robles Elementary School August Student of the Month
Robles Elementary started the year off with a Read-a-thon that wrapped up with a Hero's themed Book Fair. The Read-a-thon encouraged students to take the right path immediately by reading, reading, reading. Our Heros Book Fair got over 500 books in to the hands of children, their families and their class-room. What fun they had! NFL Day at Robles Elementary was spent learning new games and having fun on the new Peaceful Playround. They also learned about nutrition and how to stay fit through diet and exercise. NFL Day at AVMS was fun filled with team challenges, good sportsmanship and healthy habits. Both schools were able to wear NFL themed clothing to support their favorite teams. Movie Night was so much fun! Over 40 students and their families came to watch Mr. Magoruims Wonder Imporuim. We had free popcorn, movie snacks and raffles! Our first BIG fundraiser is right upon us. Both schools are selling the "Enjoy the City" coupon books. These great books are filled with coupons for your favorite restaurants and places to visit for only $20 each. See your nearest stu-dent to purchase your copy or visit the school office.
Mark your calendars Next PTA Meeting is on October 19 at the Middle School 6:30 PM

Letter from Superintendent McCann about Altar Valley 2020
My first months on the job have been immensely enjoyable. As you know, Altar Valley recently became the first district in the state to exit school improvement. This accomplishment is a testament to the hard work and commitment demonstrated by our students, faculty and staff, parents, and community supporters. As the parent of a Robles student, I can speak firsthand of the caring and dedicated staff and the wonderful learning envi-
ronment that has been established in the District.
I have had the opportunity to meet with many people throughout the community. In each instance, I have fo-cused on listening; really hearing what you have to say about the school district - our strengths as well as the areas that require improvement.
A number of themes have materialized and I am pleased to report that we are headed in the right direction. Certainly, the District is proud of becoming the first in the state, but our aspirations are much higher as we seek to be-come the best in the state. To achieve such a bold and ambitious goal requires the talents and skills of many people. With that in mind I invite you to participate in the District’s long-range strategic planning process, Altar Valley 2020.
Altar Valley 2020 will provide the framework for who we want to be. Through this collaborative and inclusive process, we will identify and define our core values and establish the priorities that will guide us through this decade.
Please join me on Tuesday, October 5th at 6:00pm in the AVMS cafeteria for a town hall meet-ing to kick off Altar Valley 2020.
Our task will be difficult and undoubtedly we will encounter obstacles along the way. Together though, I am confident that our community and our staff will provide the energy and determination nec-essary to make Altar Valley the very best school dis-trict in the state.
I thank you in advance for your support of
our schools and look forward to seeing you on October 5th.

PPEP TEC Robles Junction Article
This month PPEP TEC High School would like to introduce Kim Wright, who is the school’s English teach-
er. She has been in the education field for 5 years, all of them at the Robles Junction Learning Center. Since
2006 Mrs. Wright has been a resident of the Three Points community. English is her specialty, and her great
knowledge and excellent way of teaching make PPEP TEC a better and great place to learn. The students who
have graduated have left here with a better understanding of the English language.
Mrs. Wright has a BA in English from Northern Arizona University, a MAEd from the University of Phoenix
and is SEI endorsed. She has been married for 27 years and has one son, two stepdaughters, and three grand-
children. Mrs. Wright loves to hike around the Three Points area and loves to read and cook.
Because of the changes to the curriculum this school year, Mrs. Wright knows the students will graduate with
an increased knowledge of reading, writing, grammar and vocabulary. She is happy the new curriculum focus-
es more on the skills the students will need to pass AIMS, graduate high school, and become productive mem-
bers of society.
