Dear valued customers and partners,

The history of our company dates back to 1990 and began with production of outdoor equipment. After a long period of shortages, the Velvet Revolution offered new business opportunities and the first production of sport sit harnesses and slings fueled the enthusiasm of several climbers. From the beginning, there was a close relationship with the emer-ging business network of Hudy Sport, which, in 1994, led to the creation of our sister company, Hudy Production. The company specialized in climbing harnesses, and the ROCK EMPIRE® brand became synonymous with first-class clim-bing equipment. Development of the company was closely linked with Hudy Sport, and, after a few years, the company successfully secured the ROCK EMPIRE® brand for busine-ss activities in Czech Republic as well as abroad. Together, we supported a plethora of climbing talent, climbing expe-ditions as well as events for climbing enthusiasts and the general public. These contacts were always very important to us when deciding what direction the company should take. Unfortunately, every development has its limits, and, in 2007, it was decided to separate the interests of the ex-port-oriented Hudy Production and the business network of Hudy Sport. In the summer of 2008, ROCK EMPIRE Inc. was created, and, since 2009, the company has the export rights to the ROCK EMPIRE® registered trademark.

Currently, our products are sold worldwide in more than 30 countries. The design of our products is based on years of experience cooperating with our customers. All of our pro-ducts are guided by the motto, “functional design,” which expresses our commitment to the highest level of functio-nality, usability and comfort.

Development of climbing equipment has always gone hand in hand with the general needs of movement at heights which translates into many other activities. One of the most important is undoubtedly safely working at heights, which is subject to strict standards and certifications. Our most well-known work harness, the full body harness Skill Uni, first produced in 2002, has been used by mine rescuers in Chile, Green Peace activists in New Zealand and rescue personnel in Czech Republic. Due to the importance of this equipment and our expanded range of work-related produ-cts, we are pleased to present you with this catalogue, our first catalogue devoted exclusively to ROCK EMPIRE® perso-nal protection equipment for use when working at heights.

Keylock

Keylock is a design for the area where the body of the carabiner meets the gate and locks. The result is a shape that never catches on slings, ropes or harnesses when you handle the carabiner. The keylock symbol is shown by carabiners that offer this special locking design.

XXL MULTI-USE Anti Slip

ROCK EMPIRE is pleased to introduce a multi-functional rubber Anti Slip protector for work harnesses and lanyards.

QB Buckle

This very lightweight clip allows for easy movement and handling of the straps. Thread the strap through the buckle as shown in the picture. Loosening the strap is easily done by turning the qB buckle. The buckle is designed for straps with a width of 45 mm and operates reliably in wet or freezing conditions.

Automatic Fast Release Buckles

ROCK EMPIRE offers automatic fast release buckles, which serve you well whether you need to put on the harness with one hand in the shortest time possible or remove it quickly. The buckles come in black and are designed to fit straps with a width of 45 mm. Solid and strong to a weight of 15 kN.

Anti Slip

Anti Slip rubber strap protector manufactured by ROCK EMPIRE in several sizes according to the width of the sling or strap. They hold carabiners in the correct position and protect the strap from extra abrasion.

Sit harness Skill TREE is designed for arboricultural work at heights. Extremely comfortable, padded harness allows for longer durations in trees. Suitable for professionals as well as amateurs in the field of tree climbing and work in trees. Comes in two sizes.

Attaches to the rope bridge on the Skill TREE harness. Offers users better mobility side-to-side while extending the life of the rope bridge.

It is designed for connecting in-between the legs loops of the Skill TREE harness. Black rope with a diameter of 11 mm and length of 130 cm. Colored stitching on the ends of the rope bridge identify the year of manufacture for regular inspections and simultaneously guides user in safe threading of rope. Color stitching must be on outside of knot, see figure 1.

Type of Locks

Screw Lock (S)

The manual screw lock on the gate is controlled simply using one hand. Once the screw lock in the upper part of the carabiner is rotated down onto the gate, the carabiner can be opened as shown in the picture.

Twist Lock (2T)

The twist lock system has an automatic lock and quick unlock. To open the carabiner, do two independent movements as shown in the picture.

Tri-Lock (3T)

The Tri-Lock system has an automatic lock and quick unlock. To open the carabiner, three independent movements are needed as shown in the picture.

Keylock

Keylock is a design point on the carabiner where the body meets the gate and locks. The keylock design locks securely and does not catch slings, ropes or harnesses. Opening and closing the carabiners is very simple. Carabiners with the keylock system are marked in the catalog with the symbol below.

Unique Identification Number

Each carabiner has its own unique identification number within each manufacturing order. This number will improve registration and review of metal products during regular inspection checks.

To ensure the safety of persons using personal protection equipment it is necessary to review and observe the guidelines provided by the manufacturer. These guidelines can be found in each instruction manual specific to the various personal protection equipment. In addition to the rules of use, the manufacturer of personal protection equipment also determines the need to implement inspection, the frequency of inspections and persons qualified to perform these checks. Regular inspections reduce the risk of possible injury to persons using the personal protection equipment and are required by law EN 365.

ROCK EMPIRE sets the maximum lifetime of their personal protection equipment, see page 33. Inspection of ROCK EMPIRE personal protection equipment may only be done by persons with a valid certificate issued by the company or by a holder of a valid license from IRATA with a Sprat level 3. If the inspector authorized by ROCK EMPIRE finds that a product is not eligible for additional safe use, it is within his powers to recommend disposal even if the life span of the product has not yet expired.

The fall factor expresses the proportional severity of the fall. It is the ratio of the vertical drop to the active length of rope, which is available to absorb the impact force of falling.

FALL FACTOR

This is the desired distance under the user, consisting of the length of the connecting slings plus the extended length of the fall absorber. These devices and their additional components allow the fall arrester to work with maximum safety in normal conditions, which are defined by the EU standards: Slings EN 354, Fall Absorbers EN 355, and the fall arrest systems. Absorbing the fall energy is done by controlled destruction of the internal webbing shock absorber. This process is assured under any climatic conditions. According to the standards, the use of the fall absorbers is only possible where there is adequate clearance height, see page 24.

as of december 31, 2011, full-body, chest, sit and adjustable harnesses from roCk emPire have a product life set at 10 years from the date of production. During the first 5 years from the date of first use, inspections should done at least once every 12 months. Product life can then be extended by an additional maximum of five years on the condition that the inspections shall be conducted at least once every six months. The above conditions apply to harnesses made after 1.1.2009. Harnesses made in 2008 and earlier have a product life of 5 years. other personal protection equipment produced by roCk emPire from 1.1.2009 have a product life of 5 + 5 years (the same conditions as harnesses), ropes - 10 years, metal products are restricted by wear and tear. Wear of metal products can be of maximum of 1 mm.

Product life of textiles produced starting on 1.1.2012 (harnesses and other textile products) has been adjusted to 10+2 years (2 years storage, 10 years from date of first use). Product life of ropes has been extended to 10+5 years (5 years of storage, 10 years after the date of first use).

When moving on a roof, a worker is exposed to risks: slipping, falling over the edge or into open spaces. If there are not sufficiently strong securing points on the roof, securing points on the ground can be used. Originally, arboricultural techniques were used by workers at heights in situations where there was no other safe descent. These techniques mainly include creating a securing point and positioning the rope by using a throw bag.
