These include the management of the Town Trail, reviewing assets in the community for the feasibility of the council’s ownership or management, progressing the integration of Wolverton Station into the area, by following the actions detailed in the Station Travel Plan, plus other projects identified by the council. 1.2 Promote the councils grant scheme to enable local groups to provide activities and undertake projects for the benefit of the community. 1.3 Review all submitted grant applications to ensure they meet the council’s criteria. 1.4 Apply for grant son behalf of the council to further the above aims. 1.5 Engage with local schools, community groups and other stake holders to involve them in key local projects. 1

Job Role: Projects Officer

Reports to: Clerk to the Council

Summary:

The Project Officer is responsible for managing all projects on behalf of the council..

Review and promote grants on behalf of the council to support activities and projects to be held for the benefit of the community.

1. Essential duties and responsibilities:

1.1 Undertake projects set by the council to enhance the area. These include the management of the Town Trail, reviewing assets in the community for the feasibility of the council’s ownership or management, progressing the integration of Wolverton Station into the area, by following the actions detailed in the Station Travel Plan, plus other projects identified by the council.

1.2 Promote the councils grant scheme to enable local groups to provide activities and undertake projects for the benefit of the community.

1.3 Review all submitted grant applications to ensure they meet the council’s criteria.

1.4 Apply for grant son behalf of the council to further the above aims.

1.5 Engage with local schools, community groups and other stake holders to involve them in key local projects.

1.1 Identify and embrace opportunities to work with local community groups, statutory bodies and other partners

1.2 Publicise successful partnership working to encourage new working relationships to be formed between the council and other community groups

1.3 Make use of other digital platforms for engagement such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest etc. to engage with the community and gain feedback on possible projects and promote projects.

1.4 Encourage the community to set up new projects and deliver their own services in the community.

5. Other duties to support the council team

5.1 Provide support and assistance at community events, when required by the Community Officer, to help with the event.

5.2 To greet and provide assistance to members of the public and visitors to the Town Hall during office opening hours.

5.3 To maintain office systems by updating data bases, diaries, calendars and orderingwhen required.

5.4 To provide general office duties by preparation of documents and photocopying when required.

5.5 To work with all members of the Council team to deliver local services effectively.

5.6 To open incoming post, answer telephone enquiries and deal with as appropriate, directing callers where necessary to the relevant Milton Keynes Council departments or elsewhere.

5.7 To attend training courses applicable to the role.

5.8 Other duties may be added from time to time.

6. Qualifications

To perform this job successfully the post holder must be able flexible with their working hours as some meetings will take place on evenings and weekends.

7. Education/Experience

7.1 Previous project management experience is essential.

7.2 Ability to work with all sections of the community.

7.3 Previous experience of community development and community development skills.

7.4 Basic I.T. skills and a working knowledge of Email, Internet, Word Processing and spreadsheets is essential to the role.

7.5 Full clean driving licence and own transport is essential to attend off site meetings.

8. Language ability

8.1 The ability to read, analyse and interpret information from minutes, procedures and statutory regulations.

8.2 The ability to write correspondence and meeting notes.
