The term21st century has become the central part of educational thinking and planning for the future.

Administrators and Teachers are actively searching for ways to prepare students for the future, and the educational system has been evolving faster than ever before.

Creating a 21st century educational system is about making sure that all students are prepared to succeed in a competitive world-a world with plenty of opportunities for highly skilled individuals and options for everyone else.

In order to prepare students to play their role in the 21st century society we are part of, the following can be considered when deciding how education will look in our schools and classrooms.

1.) Instruction should be student-centered Education is no longer about listening to the teacher talk and absorbing the information. In order to contribute to society, students will need to be able to acquire new information as problem arise . Then , they will need to connect the new information with the knowledge they already have and apply it to solving the problem at hand. They will not be able to call upon a teacher for answers, so will need to have learned how to learn on their own. In this classroom model

2.)Education should be collaborativeStudents must learn how to collaborate with others. Society today has people collaborating across the globe. Students should be encourage to work together to discover information, piece it together, and construct meaning. Collaboration should also be dynamic. Students should learn how to recognize the different strengths and talents each person can bring to a project, and change roles depending on those attributes.

3.) Learning should have context Technology a tool, a way for fact-based learning and allows students to do a lot of the research using the internet and various tools.

The roles of Technology in 21st century Learning:1.) Technology allows for 24/7 access to information2.) Constant social interaction, and3.) Easily created and shared digital content.

There is a call for action to integrate technology as a fundamental building block into education in three broad areas:*Use technology comprehensively to develop proficiency in 21st century skills.*Use technology comprehensively to support innovative teaching and learning.*Use technology comprehensively to create robust education support systems.

Important functions of Educational Technology 1.) Improvement of teachingit tries to find out the different variables of teaching, their interlinks, effects upon each other, and the maxims of teaching are also evaluated by it.

2.) Analysis of the Teaching-Learning ProcessEducational Technology aims at analyzing the process of teaching-learning thoroughly. Over all, it tries to establish better relationship between teaching and learning.

3.) Improvement of LearningEducational Technology analyses the process of learning and the related theories. It facilitates more and more of learning in less time.

4.) Enhancing Goals of EducationEducational Technology helps in finding right objectives. Educational technology helps in enhancing the right objectives in the light of the change circumstances and changed environment.

5.) Training to TeachersEducational Technology can render its valuable help in the training of teachers.

6.) Development of CurriculumCurriculum is the total teaching-learning environment, which has to be modified and remolded on the light of the latest thoughts. Educational Technology can do this job of developing a suitable curriculum appropriately.

7.) Development of the Teaching-Learning MaterialsIn this age of science and technology, the materials of teaching cannot be unscientific. Only the right type of materials will able to modify the behavior of the learner suitably making him a fit person for the society.

8.) Teaching-Learning StrategiesThe different strategies are being evolved by educational technology. The knowledge of those strategies is a must for every teacher.

9.) Development of Audio-Visual AidsAudio-Visual aids have always played an important role in the teaching-leaning process. Computer assisted instruction will help the learner as well as the teacher to achieve the goals of education more conveniently.

10.) Help in Overall improvementEducational technology helps in locating the problems in the different areas of education. Educational Technology can revolutionize the whole process of teaching learning.

11.) Identification of the needs of the CommunityEducational Technology identifies the needs of the community. It helps in providing equal education opportunities to backward people, disadvantages students and deprived sections of the society.

For21st Century Learning, the 21st Century classroom is designed with two key concepts in mind: technology access and student-centered architecture. Technology access means that each student should be having their own space to function with technology; the classroom is outfitted with a mounted LCD projector, a document camera and an additional wireless router

The 21st Century Classroom not only has modern tools, equipment and content but it includes a teacher trained to use thetoolseffectively with innovative teaching approaches that integrates the interactivity and engaging content technology brings to curriculum.
