January 13, 2019– Baptism of the Lord
As we celebrate the Feast of the Lord’s Baptism, we are reminded of our own baptism that made us sons and daughters of God in Christ. We are also reminded of our baptismal promises to reject Satan and to live compassionate lives pleasing to the Father.
Let us take a look at the life we are living now. Are we living a life that is pleasing to our merciful and loving God? As we renew the vows of our own baptism, let us be reminded that tomorrow and the days and weeks and months that follow, we must live what we celebrate and witness to what we say. Christ, Who is the visible face of the Father’s Mercy, has given us a new life to live. We are now called to follow the path He trod. Let us then pray for the courage, strength and humility to be bearers of the Lord’s Good News of love and mercy by what we say and do. Amen.
From Fr. Steve

JOIN US FOR EUCHARISTIC ADORATION AT STAR OF THE SEA ON THE 1ST THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH FROM 8:30AM UNTIL 3:00PM
What is Eucharistic Adoration? Eucharistic Adoration is adoring or honoring the Eucharistic Presence of Christ. We as Catholics believe that Christ is truly and substantially present in the Eucharist – Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.
Outside of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Jesus remains in the Tabernacle. For Eucharistic Adoration, Our Lord is taken from the Tabernacle and placed in a Monstrance on the Altar, so all may adore Him and spend time with Him. Eucharistic Adoration is "God and Man reaching out for each other, at the same time!"
The priest uses a humeral veil for the blessing with the Mon-strance so that his hands do not touch the Monstrance…this is symbolic that Jesus and not the priest is blessing the people.
Please prayerfully consider joining the parish Eucharistic Adoration team – contact Dick and Sue Meeker at 757-228-7775 or [email protected]

MARCH FOR LIFE 2019:
The 46th annual March for Life, the world’s largest annual human rights demonstration, will be held on January 18, 2019 in Washington, D.C.
The March for Life continues to be a leader in the pro-life Community, informing the public about protecting the beauty, value, and dignity of every human life. March for Life also focuses on the positive tone of duty and responsibility for each of us to care for our fellow human beings and therefore works toward overturning Roe v. Wade to help give the most vulnerable and voiceless in our society a voice that is heard.
The March for Life Rally will take place at noon at 12th St. on the National Mall, in between Madison Drive and Jefferson Drive. Following the Rally, the March will begin on Constitution Avenue between 12th and 14th Streets at approximately 1:00 pm. All participants of the March for Life are encouraged to be respectful of all people and stay focused on the cause of promoting and celebrating life, lovingly, prayerfully, and graciously.
If you are interested to learn more about March for Life 2019, please refer to www.marchforlife.org for more information. “We will allow the good God to make plans for the future – for yesterday has gone, tomorrow has not yet come and we have only today to make Him known, loved and served. Our Lord told us not to fret about tomorrow, which is in God’s hands. So we do not worry about it.” --St. Teresa of Calcutta
