EASTER SUNDAY THE RESURRECTION OF OUR LORD

MARCH 27, 2016

First Reading: Acts 10:34a, 37-43 Peter discusses Jesus' life of preaching and healing. Jesus was crucified, and then he rose up and was seen by his chosen witnesses. Peter also mentions the importance of all the disciples bearing witness to what they saw, so that many people would believe in Jesus, and have their sins forgiven through him.

Second Reading: Colossians 3:1-4 Paul asserts that we must pay attention to higher realms rather than earthly concerns. Our life is not yet completely known to us, until Christ appears and we are raised to glory in him.

Gospel: John 20:1-9 When Mary Magdalene discovered Jesus' tomb was open, she told Simon Peter and another disciple. They ran to the tomb and Peter went inside. He found the burial wrappings on the ground, with the head covering separate from the rest. The other disciple came in and they believed what they saw, although until then they had not understood the Scripture's message of Jesus' resurrection

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY - APRIL 3RD

Saint Aedan’s will be the host site for celebrating Divine Mercy Sunday here is our local parish cluster. (St. Aedan, St. Margaret, St. Catharine, St. John and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart) The feast of Divine Mercy is the culmination of the Novena to the Divine Mercy of Jesus, a devotion given to Saint Faustina (Maria "Faustina Kowalska). It is based upon an entry in her diary stating that anyone who participates in the Mass, and receives the sacraments of Confession and the Eucharist on this day is assured by Jesus of full remission of their sins. The devotion was actively promoted by the late Pope John Paul II, who canonized St. Faustina and designated the Sunday after Easter as the Sunday of the Divine Mercy in the Roman Calendar. John Paul II, who died April 5, 2005 on the vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday, was himself, beatified on Divine Mercy Sunday, by his successor, our Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI. Here at Saint Aedan's we will have a Divine Mercy service in our Church, Sunday April 3rd starting at 3P.M. ALL ARE INVITED!

PARISH CARDINAL’S APPEAL UPDATE

As of this week, our returns indicate that, at present, our parish has received total pledges amounting to $ 50,561.00 from 152 individuals and households. This represents 60 % of our assigned parish goal of $84,000.00. It comes out to an average gift of $ 332.00 Please remember that pledges work best for many of us because we can pay them off over the next few months. MUSIC MINISTRY

The Bible explains that “every good gift comes from God” (James 1:17). Music is one of God’s good gifts. The purpose of liturgical music and singing is to “rejoice in and worship the Lord” (Psalm 95:1-2) In the New Testament believers sang worship songs to the Lord (Acts 16:25). They were also encouraged to “teach and admonish one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3:16) Please consider joining this important ministry of music which gives praise and glory to God and helps the faithful of our parish to elevate their minds and hearts to God during our sacred liturgies.
