In this class you will learn about the sound patterns of Spanish, and will apply this new knowledge to the improvement of your pronunciation.
SPANISH 373.001: Topics in Hispanic Studies: Bilingualism in the Spanish Speaking World Prof. Teresa Satterfield TTh 1-2:30 pm #28537 The primary goal of this introductory course is to survey a broad range of linguistic, social, psychological and cultural issues related to bilingualism, focusing on bilingualism as it occurs in the Spanish-speaking world.
SPANISH 411: Advanced Syntax Prof. Teresa Satterfield TTh 10-11:30 am #27028 This class continues the study of Spanish sentence structure and basic syntactic theory. There is a data collection/conversational component in which you will interact with native Spanish speakers.
SPANISH 415: Problems in Language Translation Prof. Olga Gallego Section 001: MW 10-11:30 am #31513 Section 002: MW 1-2:30 pm #31514 Spanish 415 focuses on developing advanced language skills and the techniques required for translating from and to Spanish through extensive exposure to authentic translation materials.
ROMLING/SPANISH 418: Spanish Second Language Acquisition Prof. Lorenzo García-Amaya MW 2:30-4 pm #27034 / #27021 This course provides an introduction to the general process of Second Language Acquisition (SLA), and more specifically, to the most relevant theories of second language learning. Although there will be an emphasis on the acquisition in Spanish, other languages will be discussed as well. Students will apply their knowledge of course content in various data analysis activities, homework assignments, oral presentations, and exams.
