The laser scanner collects 460,000 3D points per second from the bike frame’s surface; an entire frame can be measured and checked in just a few minutes.

The 3D points are compared to the CAD surfaces and assigned colours according to their distance from the CAD model. The system creates easy to understand checking reports.

The ROMER Absolute Arm’s compact design and lightness mean it can be taken anywhere: from a factory shop-floor to a wind tunnel or even a racing event.

The ROMER Bike Measurement System is a completely portable 3D scanning system, developed in Switzerland in close collaboration with the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and the Laboratory of Polymer and Composite Technology (LTC) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL).

The dedicated measurement software is built on InnovMetric‘s class-leading PolyWorks® software and using just 9 simple commands it allows checks of bike frame validity against a CAD model in minutes, creating easy to understand checking reports. Just pass the scanner over the frame and the integrated laser scanner collects 3D points from the frame surface. The ease of movement of the ROMER Absolute Arm allows checks of even difficult to reach areas.

Featuring industry proven ROMER technology, the system gives unrivalled non-contact scanning performance, even on highly reflective carbon fibre surfaces. It has been tested extensively to give accurate operator independent results. The ROMER Bike Measurement System is now the UCI’s approved instrument for checking bike frame legality, whatever the type, whatever the location.
