GANO ON THE KING OF INSTRUMENTSSUNDAY, MARCH 26 AT 4 PMOn September 11, 1998, an electrical short sparked a fire thatseverely damaged the chapel at First Lutheran. Rallying torebuild, the congregation voted to raise additional funds andbuild a state-of-the-art pipe organ designed by Manuel Rosales,the renowned craftsman who voiced the Disney Hall organ.DENNIS GANO debuted our organ at the May 2004 dedicationand once again he brings this magnificent instrument to life in a meditative, uplifting concert. You’re on a Lenten musicaljourney that includes the great chorale prelude by J. S. Bach,Out of the Depths I Cry for Thee.

ONE PIANO, SIX HANDSSUNDAY, FEBRUARY 26 AT 4 PMSimone Belsky Competition finalist KATHY SAWADA hasestablished herself as an adventurous pianist of superb emo-tional and passionate playing. She returns to Masters in theChapel accompanied by colleagues from The Colburn Schoolof Performing Arts, STEVE COOK and DERRISON DUARTE.The trio performs an eclectic program of piano for two, fourand six hands (acrobatic skills that Cirque du Soleil performerswould admire) including Carl Czerny’s arrangement ofMozart’s Overture to the Marriage of Figaro for 6 hands and a selection of Messiaen’s Vingt Regards. You’ll be whistling“America” from West Side Story all the way home.
