Drama!

1

Word Study

In Phonics, we reviewed all of the short vowel sounds.

Our sight words were as, are, be, have, we and then.

Reading Workshop

Like they do in Math, students learned to double-check their reading. After figuring out a hard word, we always double-check to make sure it makes sense and looks right.

HWT

In Handwriting Without Tears, we

2

learned how to form the lowercase c and o. The c is "magic" and many letters will begin with the "magic c".

Writing Workshop

In Writing Workshop, students used drama to bring stories to life. By acting out their stories, more details were revealed and added to their writing.

Math

Continuing our practice with change diagrams, students began using the words "add" and "subtract" to help transition into

3

equations.

Poem

Check out our new poem below! Students have been practicing and are getting ready to recite in front of the class.

My Father's Dragon

We finished our first novel and are so thankful that it is part of a trilogy... because nobody wanted it to end!

4

Some one came knocking; I'm sure-sure-sure; I listened, I opened, I looked to left and right, But nought there was a stirring In the still dark night; Only the busy beetle Tap-tapping in the wall, Only from the forest

5

The screech-owl's call, Only the cricket whistling While the dewdrops fall, So I know not who came knocking, At all, at all, at all.
