20 Rosalie Primary School Annual Report
For some time Spelling has been an area of concern. The school has worked hard to turn this
situation around and we are now seeing consistent improvements in our NAPLAN Spelling
results as well as our South Australian Spelling Test data.
Comparative Data indicates that RPS results are at the expected level. Analysis of the
NAPLAN data showed that our Writing was below the expected level. After teasing out the
data the school established that the area of weakness was vocabulary; in particular tier two
connective conjunctions. We had a clear purpose and the school is addressing the
weaknesses.

received distinctions, 6 credits and 2 proficiency ratings.
11 Year 7 students participated in the same competition. Of these 8 received
distinctions, 2 credits and 1 proficiency ratings.
The results demonstrate that the school performs well in Geometry and Basic
Arithmetic. Nation-wide there seems to be an issue with Enumeration and while
Rosalie did not perform as expected we scored marginally better than the
national average.
NON ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT
Attendance
Behaviour
The children who attend Rosalie Primary are renowned for their exemplary
behaviour; however there are times when reminders need to be given to ensure
this behaviour is always demonstrated. During the year a number of detentions
were handed out by teachers, mostly for misdemeanours such as not wearing a
hat at play after being asked to put one on; 66% of those put on detention did
not reoffend thereby affirming our Behaviour Management Policy and ensuring
that the children always exhibit appropriate behaviours.

SURVEYS
Parents completed the Rosalie School Satisfaction survey in 2014. The overall satisfaction levels
were very high and ranked even higher than the students. On a comparative note the parents’
opinions were on an even par with the students i.e. they ranked receiving useful feedback and
student behaviour less than the other areas and they ranked teachers at this school expect the best
from their child and my child feels safe at this school as amongst the highest.
Senior Students at Rosalie PS participated in a school survey. The overall results indicated that they
had high levels of satisfaction with a number of school management issues.
Students receiving useful feedback and student behaviour scored the lowest. These areas will
become priorities in 2015 for staff to address and find out more details on what the students expect
from teachers with feedback and what are the ‘hot spots’ and concerns in regards to student
behaviour. However, students were most satisfied with the level in which teachers expect them to
do their best and feeing safe at school.
