ROSARY AT THE GROTTO 2019
Introduction by Commentator:
Brothers and Sisters, please collect the booklet with the songs and rosary prayers for the Procession from outside the Main Door Entrance of the Church. Please also be informed that the Song Sheet and Rosary Prayers can also be found on the St. Ignatius Website. (to be projected – Website address and where the Song Sheet is.)
The sequence of the procession around the church is as follows:- ( to be projected )
1) Two candle bearers from the altar servers will lead the procession 2) The Mother Mary carriage will be behind the altar servers 3) 6 Flower Girls 4) Parish priests 5) SIC Choir / Rosary Leaders 6) Congregation
The 1st Part of the Rosary will start in Church.

Commentator:
The Rosary begins with the “Sign of the Cross”.
+ In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. 2. The Apostles' Creed (to be projected) 3. Commentator: We will now process out to the 1st Station.
The choir will lead in the hymn – “O Come To The Throne of Grace” (Projected)(and use booklet). The Sunday School Secondary Students to proceed to push from Inside Church to The Church Entrance. Then the English Bec to carry from The Church Entrance to the 1st Station which is at the Grotto.

The First Sorrowful Mystery
THE AGONY IN THE GARDEN. Mark 13: 32,34-36. Luke 22:44
Then they came to a place called Gethsemane and he said to his disciples, “sit here while I pray” Then He said to them “My soul is sorrowful even to death, remain here and keep watch” He advanced a little and fell to the ground. And prayed that if it was possible the hour might pass by him. He said, “Abba, father, take this cup away from me, but not what I will, but your will be done.” And to strengthen Him an angel from heaven appeared to Him. He was in such agony and he prayed so fervently that his sweat became like drops of blood falling on the ground.
REFLECTION:
As Jesus prayed in the garden, his sweat became drops of blood falling on the ground. He asked his disciples to pray. He is calling me and you. We often turn our backs and walk away, how often do we accompany Jesus in his agony. He is waiting for us, He says, “Come back to me with all your heart, I know you are thirsty, I will not deny you” What is our answer to him.
INTENTION
We offer this decade and pray for Our Holy Father Pope Francis, Bishops, priest and religious. Lord God Almighty grant them the wisdom, strength and understanding to lead Your church and the people whom You have chosen to a deeper and fuller understanding of the teaching and precepts of You Holy Church.

O my Jesus, forgives us our sins, save us from the fires of hell and lead all our souls to heaven. Especially those who are most in need of Your mercy.
The Mother Mary carriage is now in procession to the 2nd station i.e. The Parochial House by the English BEC singing the hymn “On this Day of Beautiful Mother”. The Mandarin group will be at the station, on standby to receive the carriage.

THE SCOURGING AT THE PILLAR. John 19:1
Pilate addressed the crowd a third time. “What evil has this man done, I find him guilty of no capital crime, and therefore I shall have him flogged and then release him. Then Pilate took Jesus and had Him scourged.
REFLECTION
Before Pilate he stood rejected and condemned by his own people. He was there alone, despised and rejected. Were you there at His scourging? Yes we were there, have we not condemned our own and rejected them. Jesus reminds us “when you did it to the least of my brethren you did it to me.”
INTENTION
We offer this decade and pray for Christians persecuted all over the world where there is no religious freedom. That God bless them and give them the courage to live and practise their faith, knowing that Jesus is their refuge and strength.
The 2nd decade is recited in Mandarin.

The Third Sorrowful Mystery
THE CROWING WITH THORNS Mark: 15: 17, 19-20.
The soldiers clothed Him in purple and weaving a crown of thorns, placed it on Him. And began striking his head with a reed and spitting upon him. They knelt before him in homage. And when they had mocked him they stripped him of the purple cloak, dressed him in his own clothes and led him out to crucify him.
REFLECTION
Yes we were there, we saw you being crowned with thorns and spitted upon, and
we stood by afraid to speak up, afraid in case we are mocked upon by others. How
often are we bypassing those most in need of compassion? Yes we gave him the
thorns of our pride. Our hypocrisy and vanity. Jesus says, I am with you today, I
am the voiceless, I am the meek, I am the humble. How often are we bypassing
the ones most in need of love and compassion? Let us now give him the crown of
our love and humility.
INTENTION
We offer this decade and pray that we will be able to accept criticism, insults and
mockery and offer up our pain for the suffering souls in purgatory.
The 3rd decade is recited in BM.

group will be at the station, on standby to receive the carriage.

The Fourth Sorrowful Mystery
THE CARRYING OF THE CROSS John 19: 17-19
So they took Jesus and carrying the cross himself he went out to what is called the
Place of the Skull, in Hebrew, Golgotha, There they crucified him, and with him
two others one on either side, with Jesus in the middle. Pilate had an inscription
written and put on the cross. It read “Jesus the Nazorean, the king of the Jews.”
REFLECTION
Yes we were there on the road to Calvary. We were the bystanders, Your cross
became heavier. The load of our sins were too much and You fell beneath the
weight, Yes we saw you move on falling again. The cross symbolises the suffering
of loneliness, oppression, pain sorrow and confusion. What have I done to lighten
the burden of my sister or brother? Did I make the cross heavier, the burden
greater? Let us get up from our falls, remove the splinter recognise the beams,
carry our cross and walk the road to Calvary.
INTENTION
We offer this decade and pray for the sick, elderly and lonely. That in their sorrow
they will receive the light from Christ, and follow the footsteps of our lord with
patience and love.
The 4th decade is recited in Tamil.

The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery
THE CRUCIFIXION AND DEATH OF OUR LORD. JOHN: 19 V 23-24, 28, 30
When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into
four shares. A share for each soldier. They also took His tunic, but the tunic was
seamless woven in one piece from top down. So they said to one another. “Let us
not tear but cast lots to see whose it will be” in order that the passage of scripture
might be fulfilled. “They divided my garments among them and for my vesture
they cast lots”
After this aware that everything was now finished, in order that the scripture
might be fulfilled he said “I thirst” when Jesus had taken the wine, he said “It is
finished” and bowing his head, he handed over His spirit.
REFLECTION
Yes we were there when they crucified our Lord. We watched as bystanders, we
were looking, very oblivious to what was happening. The same sacrifice of Jesus
on the cross is on our altars’ daily. We are sometimes not interested; we are just
bystanders, there to fulfil our obligations. But Jesus is calling me and you. He says
“I am here with you, come spend one hour with me. I love you and died to save
you from sin and hell. Come and be in my father’s house where I have prepared
many rooms for you”
INTENTION
We offer this decade and pray to be empowered by the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be
courageous and zealous in bearing witness to the Gospel and to be to the
instruments of peace and love to all we meet, so that the mission entrusted to the
Church may bring life and light to the world.
The 5th decade is recited in English.

placed back onto the trolley at The Church Entrance whereby the Senior Citizen’s and Legion
Of Mary are waiting to push the carriage to the church to its original location.
The congregation to continue singing the same hymn “Holy Queen We Bend Before Thee”. (to
be projected as well). Once the congregation is in the church, the commentator will proceed
with the following prayers.
HAIL HOLY QUEEN (to be projected)
Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, Hail our life, our sweetness and our hope. To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To you do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy towards us and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

O God, who’s only begotten Son by His life, death and resurrection, has purchased for us the
rewards of eternal life. Grant we beseech thee, that meditating upon the most holy rosary of
the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise;
through the same Christ, Our Lord, Amen.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it know, that anyone who fled to your
