Process industries worldwide rely

on Rosemount temperature sensors

from Emerson. Our expertise in

temperature measurement has been

improving process safety, quality and

throughput for more than 50 years.

Today, we’re engineering

ENGINEERING EXPERTISE

Emerson’s engineering team in Germany is focused solely on designing temperature sensors for the most unique and extreme process conditions. Our temperature specialists have unsurpassed knowledge of thermocouples and Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) sensors.

MATERIALS DEPTH AND AVAILABILITY

Your sensor solution will benefit from our world-class supply chain. Emerson engineers have ready access to a wide selection of materials, including some that can be difficult to obtain. This allows us to assemble sensors with exactly the right properties for optimal performance under any process condition. You never have to compromise.

SENSOR AND TRANSMITTER ASSEMBLY

Assembling Rosemount sensors with Rosemount transmitters simplifies procurement and installation. You can order a complete-point temperature solution—sensors plus wired or wireless transmitters with advanced diagnostics—together, at the same time. More importantly, the advantages you’ll gain by assembling Emerson products means you will experience the highest reliability possible.

Better by DesignMonitoring temperature in unusual or demanding conditions is challenging. A

typical sensor may do the job. But how accurate will it be? And how long will it

last? Standard sensors can’t withstand the rigors of many non-typical applications.

Emerson’s temperature specialists can design a better sensor, just for you. One

that performs better, lasts longer, and ultimately lowers total cost of ownership.

In fact, Emerson temperature sensors may provide up to three times

the operational life over standard sensors in extreme and unique applications.

Rosemount Sapphire Sensors Extended life span in high temperature/high pressure processes.

Sensors designed using sapphire protection tubes perform more accurately and reliably

under extreme heat and pressure. The sapphire provides chemical protection to prevent

contamination of the thermocouple and maintain sensor integrity. Emerson’s patented

design may triple sensor life time in many high temperature/high pressure processes.

24

Improves quality and throughput—maintains reliability in temperatures up to 3092 °F (1700 °C) and pressure up to 65 bar (943 psi)

Extends reliability—sensor lifespan is up to 15–24 months

Elevates safety—dual-seal system eliminates the risk of fugitive emissions in the unlikely event of a sensor failure

Reduces unplanned shutdowns—increased survivability in hydrogen, sulfur and other toxic environments due to the use of sapphire elements

Saves money—typically triples sensor life over traditional sensors

MULTIPOINT LAMINATED SPRING

Designed to withstand harsh conditions and to handle angled protective tube.

MULTIPOINT RADIAL SPRING

Spring-loaded design provides excellent thermal contact with the process, speeding up response times.

MULTIPOINT GUIDE TUBE

Cost effective design allows individual sensors to be replaced.

MULTIPOINT COMPACT DESIGN

Provides high-resolution hot-spot detection in narrow tubes.

Reliable up to 1832 °F (1000 °C)

A single sheath accommodates up to 40 measuring points. This design is ideally suited for temperature profiling inside narrow reaction tubes.

• Thermocouple Type K or N, plus others

• Remote mount via SST flex hose junction box

• Sheath diameter as small as 6 mm (0.24 in)

Reliable up to 1832 °F (1000 °C)

Designed for use in applications requiring fewer temperature measurement points, high process availability and fast response time. It is suitable for use in reactors, fractionators, distillation columns and sulfur recovery units.

• Single thermocouple Type K or N, plus others

• Welded-in compression fittings provide an environmental seal

• Flanged protection tube in various alloys

Reliable up to 842 °F (450 °C)

Radial springs press up to 20 thermocouples or RTDs against the protection tube. Easy installation plus the best possible response time make this an excellent choice for temperature profiling in tall (up to 30 m/98 ft) reactors, fractionators, distillation columns and oil tanks (up to 12 m/39 ft).

Rosemount Surface Temperature SensorsImproved performance without intrusion.

Surface sensors are a convenient and safe way to non-intrusively measure

temperature. Emerson designs surface, or “skin,” sensors that maintain high

performance under the harshest process conditions. Our solutions excel in

challenging applications where most other sensors would fail.

EMERSON ADVANTAGES APPLICATION SOLUTIONS

Improves safety and efficiency—monitor temperature in extreme and unusual conditions, without compromising the integrity of the process

Lowers installation cost—non-intrusive installation is faster and easier

Simplifies maintenance—individual sensors can be easily replaced

Greater installation flexibility—design considerations include both surface materials and your attachment preference: screw, clamp or weld

PIPE CLAMP SENSOR

Ideal for applications demanding accuracy, durability and stability.

SURFACE SENSOR WITH CONNECTION HEAD AND TRIANGLE BRACKET

Provides accurate surface measurement for high temperature applications.

SURFACE SENSOR WITH CONNECTION HEAD

Provides a head-mounted transmitter and better performance.

SURFACE SENSOR WITH EXTENSION CABLE

Ideal for surface temperature measurements under insulation material.

Suitable for low-temperature measurement applications

Simple to install: Bendable sensors are attached to the process first, and then wired directly to the connection head. The junction to the extension is placed outside of the insulation. Suitable for low-temperature applications, such as steam or process media pipes, where precise accuracy is not crucial.

• Mineral-isolated RTD or thermocouple (3.2 mm/0.13 in or 6 mm/0.24 in)

• Small sizes available

• PTFE coated cable is sealed against moisture

Suitable for low-temperature measurement applications

Attaches easily onto pipes, vessels and tanks. The bendable sensor feeds through the insulation material and outside the insulation. The connection head is directly mounted on the sensor and placed outside of the insulation.

• Mineral-isolated RTD or thermocouple (6 mm/0.24 in)

• Sealed connection head is protected from moisture

• Designed for use with head mount transmitters

Reliable up to 842 °F (450 °C)

The measurement tip is fixed to the contact block. The sensor body with the head is fixed to a triangle bracket, which is screwed to a cleat that is welded onto the pipe. The triangle bracket maintains a consistent distance between the transmitter head and the hot surface.

• Mineral-insulated RTD or thermocouple (6 mm/0.24 in)

• Cleat and contact block are made from the same material

• Designed for use with wired or wireless transmitters

Temperature range of -58 °F to 572 °F (-50 °C to 300 °C) for silver tip, -328 °F to 572 °F (-200 °C to 300 °C) for nickel tip

Platinum RTD temperature sensors minimize thermal resistance between the pipe and sensor. Spring-loaded, replaceable measuring inserts ensure contact with the pipe surface, and support ongoing process integrity.

• Suitable for pipe sizes DN15/0.5 in to 1219 mm/48 in

• Sensors available with silver or nickel tips

• Available stainless steel housing improves longevity in harsh environments

Rosemount Magnetic Surface SensorsSimple, non-intrusive attachment. Magnets hold sensors securely in place on many horizontal and vertical metal surfaces.

Magnetic connections on the end of the sensors easily attach to the outside of the

process, eliminating the need for screws, welds or clamps. Decreases installation and

maintenance costs for low-temperature applications on virtually any magnetic surface.

These sensors are suitable for mounting on vertical and horizontal surfaces, depending

on the strength of the magnet and the weight of the sensor.
