Surrounding Districts: The outstanding Bucketts Mountains form the backdrop for the

attractive and secluded township of Gloucester on the Bucketts Way.

The warm country welcome extended by the local people only serves to

increase this impression of beauty, tranquillity and serenity.

Gloucester township nestled in the foothills of the Bucketts Mountains;

Bucketts being a derivative of the Aboriginal word Buccans, meaning

“big rock”, is also known as the “Sleeping Giant” as from some angles

the formation does look exactly like that, a sleeping giant.

Gloucester, base camp to the World Heritage Listed Barrington Tops, is

situated in a picturesque valley on the Gloucester River and is only a

three hour drive from Sydney. Bordering on one of the best passive and

active recreation parks in NSW, Gloucester provides and ideal lifestyle

choice for both visitors and the residents alike.

Well known for its country hospitality, Gloucester is the perfect place

to relax, unwind and do nothing. Or alternatively go for a drive to

beautiful rivers and valleys.

Gloucester has long been well known for its close proximity to the

world heritage listed Barrington Tops. Tourist Drive 29 from

Gloucester to Scone is the only two-wheel drive road that goes all the

way over the Barrington Tops. With magnificent lookouts, picnic areas

and easy walks, it makes a wonderful day trip.

Thunderbolts Way, totally sealed, provides a quicker access to

Queensland along with some spectacular mountain views on the way.

Carsons Lookout, between Gloucester and Nowendoc is the perfect stop

off point for a break and the enjoyment of panoramic views.

There is a wide range of outdoor activities ranging from the numerous

bush drives and walks, to a game of golf or bowls, swimming, horse

riding, skydiving and canoeing. Visit the Aboriginal Garden, the Folk

Museum or the Gloucester Art Gallery.

Overview: “Homestead”, “Bakers View” and “Top End” all form what has been

known as “Rosewood”, a recognised and successful Gloucester district

cattle operation.

“Rosewood” has been held by the present owners for 30 years and only

3 families prior since settlement.

During this period, which will be evident on inspections, is the owners

care and maintenance of the well presented homes and improvements.

The current management have implemented and maintained annual

timber and weed controls and have been diligent in their fencing

programme.

Productivity: “Rosewood” as a standalone cattle operation is presently capable of

running between 190 – 230 cows and calves. However, with further

timber and regrowth control and the implementation of a pasture and

fertiliser programme there is excellent potential to increase the cattle

numbers.

Fencing: A feature of “Rosewood” is the fencing with approx 80% having been

renewed in the past 12 years.

Constructed using timber and/or steel posts with 4/5 barbs, the

property has been sensibly subdivided into grazing paddocks which

compliment the management of the livestock operation and the

topography of the overall property.

Rainfall: The average annual rainfall is 900 - 1,000 mm 38-40 “.

Water: The security of water on “Rosewood” is without doubt one of the main

features of the property.

The property enjoys an approx 2 kms single and double frontage to

Bakers Creek, which is then supported by a number of spring fed

gully’s and a total of 20 dams.

Gum, Stringy Bark, Apple Gum, Bloodwood, Red Cedar and

Rosewood.

An annual spraying programme for regrowth has produced excellent

results and therefore allowed the productivity of the property to be

maintained.

Weed Control: The current owners have maintained a regular weed control

programme.
