    CAP ESPRIT

In each edition, aSquadron Cadetwill submit a brief articleaddressing a topic which embodies theSpirit of CAP Cadets.

According to the Oxford Dictionary of the U.S. Military, esprit de corps is defined as a feeling of pride, fellowship, and common loyalty shared by the membersof a particular group. The late 18

means, literally, spirit of the body.

What makes up the spirit of the body of the Civil AirPatrol? What is it about CAP that generates enthusiasm,a sense of pride and fellowship, and from that, strength?

The answer lies in the foundations of the CAP Program.CAP ESPRIT develops as Cadets strive to exemplify intheir lives the CAP Core Valuesof Integrity, Excellence,Respect, and Volunteer Service. All Cadets endeavor tobetter themselves, and to advance in rank by learning

and applying skills in each of the elements of the CAPProgram - Leadership, Aerospace Education, PhysicalFitness, Character Development, and Activities. As theirefforts to progress continue, a bond is formed, uniting allCAP Squadron 702 members and driving them to workharder, together, to achieve their common goals.

There are many different stories of how individual CAPCadets have come to recognize that spirit. That CAPEsprit has motivated them to continue to work hard, todevelop and grow, while also supporting one another and

    WHATS BEEN GOING ON

    Taking Inventory

When your CAP uniform and supply items are issued toyou, do you ever stop and wonder where they comefrom, and where they are stored? As an official auxiliaryof the USAF, CAP is fortunate to have access to surplusinventory supply items from the Air Force, the AirNational Guard, and other sources. Our squadron hastwo huge storage sheds near our squadron meeting

room, where we store and access all our supply items.

On a recent Saturday, 25 June 2011, two CAP CadetOfficers - C/2d Lt Cluney and C/2d Lt Dudash and fourCAP Senior Members - 2d Lt Meade, Maj Jones, 2d LtFox, and SM Loges, found themselves knee-deep inCAP BDUs, Dress Blue pants, shirts, blouses, caps, boots, shoes, and accessories. Much work is involved inthe tasks of sorting, sizing, and then taking inventory ofall these items. Once all the items are organized, it willbe much easier to find the specific items Cadets may belooking for. If you have time available, why not volunteerto join a work detail, and help to get the job done?Contact 2d Lt Fox or Maj Jones, to volunteer.

    CAP Cadets Support WPAFB TATTOO

On the evening of 24 June 2011, CAP Cadetsparticipated in the Freedom Call Tattoo at WPAFB. Theannual event recognizes the contributions of our militaryveterans and their families. In addition to serving intraffic control, the Cadets enjoyed the sights and soundsof military aircraft flyovers, maneuvers, parachuting, performances by the AF Band of Flight and local musicgroups, good food, and a spectacular fireworks display.

CAP Cadets Join in Emergency Services Training

CAP Cadets Focus on Proper Wear of Uniform

At the 28 April 2011 Squadron meeting, C/CaptMcMeans led the Cadets in an inspection and a hands-on review of the proper care and wearing of the CAPuniform, including Service Dress and BDUs. Cadetsthen were introduced to the ironing board and iron, and

taught how to iron their own uniforms. For some, it wasa first-time experience!

Proper personal grooming and military bearing, andknowledge of what constitutes the correct fit and wearingof the uniform and ribbons, is the responsibility of everyCAP Cadet. Cadets should take the initiative in beingsquared away, cap to boots, and in assuring that theirappearance reflects respect for themselves and for theCAP organization.

    PARENTS NIGHT

CAP Squadron 702 is instituting a monthly ParentsNight. Parents are invited to attend the Squadronmeeting one Thursday each month, to observe the CAPCadets in action. This participation can vary, from serving as anactive Senior Member or Sponsor Member, tooccasionally providing support for selected CAPactivities, to participating at the monthly Parents Night.

It is very important that parents continually encouragethe Cadets in their activities, in their studies of CAPcourse materials, and in preparing for the tests.
