    Dear Parents~

    I am eager to begin this school year and journey with your student as we learnand grow together. As you are aware, I have a classroom literacy site that outlines the

    individual reading and writing components we will be covering this school year. While

    I hope you will take a ew moments to peruse that site !and stop back throughout theyear", I want to take this opportunity to tell you what my aspirations are or yourstudent while he or she is a member o my classroom. I have a strong passion or

    reading and language arts, and it is my personal goal to assist your student in inding

    what they are passionate about. #ogether, we will identiy their strengths in reading andwriting, and while we capitali$e on those, we will also ocus on improving weaknesses,

    as well as other areas your student would like more assistance with.

    #hroughout the year, your student will participate in a plethora o reading andwriting activities interwoven amidst the content areas. %eaning, not only will your

    student e&plore and discover strengths during reading and writing time, but these

    important lie skills will also be intertwined into areas like science, social studies,

    health, music, etc. 'our student will grow in the areas o comprehension, luency,vocabulary, phonics, phonemic awareness, decoding, and morphology. #hese key

    components o eective reading, integrated as games, activities, and peer stations

    throughout our Daily (ive block, will help your child on the path o becoming alielong learner. #he Daily (ive is a reading program that our school uses that

    encourages students to read, write, and interact with materials independently, with the

    overall goal o encouraging lielong literacy independence within each student. Duringthis time, I will provide ocus lessons to strengthen the aorementioned areas o reading

    or each student. #hroughout their school year, students will participate in guided

    reading, independent reading, interactive read alouds, shared reading, readingconerences, writer)s workshops, writing conerences, and so much more. *tudents will

    grow to see the importance o literacy within their lives, and I will be there to challengethem and help them grow along the way.

    %y dream or your student is that he or she will leave my classroom with theability to recogni$e strengths, as well as verbali$e areas on which they are still growing.

    +eading and writing are diverse subjects that allow student e&ploration in many ways. I

    want your student to leave with a strong knowledge o sel, an understanding o whatgood readers and writers do, a passion to read and write about what interests them, and

    a yearning to continue broadening their hori$ons. I will be there to assist them in this

    growing process, and at the same time, we will be working towards urtherindependence so that they can continue growing outside o my classroom.

    interact with !library, personal collections, my classroom library, etc.". -ot only will
