Rostislav Peška

Rostislav Peška was born in Marienbad in the Czech Republic. After graduating from

secondary grammar school, he decided to study art and psychology. He is finishing the

degree at the Department of Art and Culture of Faculty of Eductaion at the University

of West Bohemia in Pilsen.

His work is influenced by expressionism and symbolism. Rostislav is fascinated by the

human soul and his paintings have a strong psychological subtext.

Rostislav uses mostly tempera colours. He doesn't just use brushes to create his paintings,

but he also uses various gravers. He applies the colour to canvas directly as well as using

his fingers to paint with. Due to this technique, his paintings are getting more of a

spontaneous character.
