Description

Educational Objectives

D E S C R I P T I O N

This program is designed for hematologists, oncologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other providers specializing in hematology/oncology practice. New clinically-relevant research findings are reported each year, and while community oncologists may learn about these findings in a timely manner, it may take months before strategies to effectively put this new knowledge into practice are developed. This conference will provide opportunities to focus on the most clinically-relevant research findings presented at recent national events, in order to better understand how to apply this information in specific patient cases.

E D U C A T I O N A L O B J E C T I V E S

Following this program, participants should be able to:

• Determine what signaling pathways are clinically-relevant to target in subtypes of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

• Explain the common side effects associated with the use of novel agents approved for the treatment of B-cell lymphoma, and how they are optimally managed.

• Determine the role of checkpoint inhibitors in B-cell lymphoma and Hodgkin’s disease.

• Identify which clinical parameters or biomarkers aid physicians in the up-front treatment selection in multiple myeloma (MM) patients.

• Describe the role of maintenance therapy in MM patients and how long maintenance therapy is necessary.

• Explain the role of novel agents in the treatment of myeloproliferative disorders (MPD).

• Discuss potential targeted pathways to prevent the progression of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) into acute myeloid leukemia (AML).

• Explain the underlying pathogenesis of MDS and assess its impact on clinical practice.
