How Does RotaMASS Coriolis and Density Meter Provide Better Measurement For Better Management?

Coriolis Principle of OperationThe tubes inside the detector are excited at

their natural resonant frequency. The natural

resonant frequency is directly proportional

to the density of the fluid inside the tubes.

When fluid flows through the tubes the

coriolis effect creates a phase shift between

the inlet and outlet of the tubes. The degree

of this phase shift is directly proportional

to the mass flow. Consequently a coriolis

meter directly measures both mass flow

and density of the fluid.

These measured variables are then used

to calculate additional variables just

as volumetric flow rate, velocity and

concentration.

Unlike any other flow meter a coriolis does

not need any upstream or downstream

straight run lengths which simplify

installation.

Flowmeter for Any Installation Condition

RotaMASS minimises zero drift by preventing pipe-work stresses acting on the measurement tubes which

affect the mass flow measurement. You can even have 316L secondary containment on your RotaMASS

for corrosive environments, which eliminates fugitive emission.

Multi Flange Concept

RotaMASS has the widest standard flange range in the market (up to 3 standard flanges per size).

Therefore, you can install the RotaMASS into your piping quickly and conveniently.

We call this the “One meter, multi flange concept”.

Tube Design

The thicker tube walls of RotaMASS ensures minimal stiffness-change under

high pressures and longer service in corrosive and abrasive conditions

(see the examples on the left).

Furthermore, RotaMASS has seamless measuring tubes;

which means the tubes are not brazed. There is also no

gasket, or ring seal used on RotaMASS. This eliminates

any problems caused by bad brazing, gaskets or seals.

Handling Your Fluid With Care

RotaMASS’s resonant frequency of 150 Hz is above plant noise (e.g. pumps) which causes

measurement errors but lower enough not to damage the process fluid through excessive agitation

Self-Draining

The measurement tubes have a minimum angle of 2° in both the horizontal and vertical planes

which eliminates dead spots where the fluid can stagnant inside the RotaMASS.

Multiple Materials & Finishes for Your Fluid

You can find the most suitable wetted part combination for your application

in RotaMASS`s option range; different materials (e.g. stainless steel,

hastelloy-C) and different surface roughness choices (e.g. 0.8 μm).

2 Best Installed Accuracy Since precise management requires precise measurement, accuracy and repeatability have been the main focus

of Rota Yokogawa for more than 100 years.

Accredited Inhouse Calibration laboratory

To prove our specification, our calibration rig is accredited according

DIN EN 17025. This calibration rig ensures the highest level of mass

flow accuracy for gases and liquids. Our density calibration even

compensates for all temperature effects. We also provide calibration

services for other types of flowmeters.

Mass Flow Accuracy

Outstanding mass flow measurement accuracy on liquids (0,1%),

gases (0,5%) and slurry provides outstanding measurement results

for your processes.

Density Accuracy

RotaMASS 3 Series can be used as a densitometer with a certified

accuracy (0,0005 g/cm3 as an option). RotaMASS density measurement

covers the widest temperature and density range in the market. High level

density accuracy provides you with excellent volume flow accuracy and

concentration measurement on two phase liquids. Net oil computing and

water cut applications can be comfortably handled.

Temperature Accuracy

An highly isolated temperature sensor gives a very accurate temperature

measurement of +/- 0.5 °C.

This accuracy ensures outstanding density and volume flow accuracy.

Zero Stability

A double tube bent design ensures zero stability and reliable process

measurement. This design compensates for vibration and is insensitive to

external effects.

Repeatability

RotaMASS proven-in-use repeatability gives you security of a

controlled process, which ensures high product quality.

Your Answer to Difficult Measurements and easy Management

RotaMASS not only performs internal diagnostic checks but gives

warnings of potential problems or process issues (e.g. slug flow,

corrosion and entrained gas in liquid measurement). RotaMASS displays

these warnings on a user friendly display and is available remotely by

using HART or Foundation Fieldbus protocols.
