What is Rotary? Rotary International is a volunteer organization of business and professional leaders who provide humanitarian service, and help to build goodwill and peace in the world. There are approximately 1.2 million Rotary club members belonging to 33,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Founded in Chicago in 1905, Rotary celebrated 100 years of service in 2005. The Rotary Foundation has awarded more than US$2.1 billion in grants, which are administered at the local level by Rotary clubs.

What is the purpose of Rotary? Rotary clubs exist to improve communities through a range of humanitarian, intercultural and educational activities. Clubs advance international understanding by partnering with clubs in other countries. Rotary also encourages high ethical standards in all vocations.

What do Rotary clubs do? Rotary clubs address critical issues at home and abroad by providing health care and medical supplies, clean water, food, job training, youth development, and education to millions of people in need. Examples of Rotary's focus areas include: Polio Eradication - In 1985, Rotary International created PolioPlus - a program to immunize all the world's children against polio. To date, Rotary has contributed US$800 million and countless volunteer hours to the protection of more than two billion children in 122 countries. Rotary is currently working to raise an additional US$200 million toward a US$355 million challenge grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

These efforts are providing much needed polio vaccine, operational support, medical personnel, laboratory equipment and educational materials for health workers and parents. Peace - In an effort to educate tomorrow's peacemakers and ambassadors, up to 110 Rotary World Peace Fellows are sponsored each year to study at one of the eight uni-versities for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution. Since 2002, 339 fellows from over 75 coun-tries have participated at a cost of more than $23 million. International Education - Rotary is the world's largest privately-funded source of international scholarships. Each year, about 1,000 university students receive Rotary scholarships to study abroad. Rotary clubs also coordi-nate a high school-age student exchange program that has sent nearly 8,000 students abroad for three months to a year. Humanitarian Projects - Rotary clubs initiate thousands of humanitarian service projects every year. These vol-unteer-driven projects address the root causes of conflict, such as hunger, poverty, disease and illiteracy. Literacy - Rotary clubs work to improve literacy rates worldwide. A unique, Rotary-pioneered approach called the Concentrated Language Encounter (CLE) has proven very effective in resource-strapped developing countries. It was so successful in Thailand, that the Thai govern-ment adopted the program nationwide. Water Management - Recognizing the importance of clean water, many Rotary clubs help to install wells and develop water treatment and distribution systems to in-crease access to fresh drinking water for communities in need, especially in developing countries.

Overview of Rotary International's Leadership Structure

Clubs Rotarians are members of more than 32,000 Rotary clubs, which belong to the global association of Ro-tary International (RI). Each club elects its own of-ficers and enjoys considerable autonomy within the framework of Rotary's constitution and bylaws.

Districts Clubs are grouped into approximately 530 RI dis-tricts, each led by a district governor, who is an RI officer and leads about 50 clubs. The district admin-istration, including assistant governors and various committees, guides and supports the clubs.

The RI Boards The 19-member RI Board of Directors, which in-cludes RI president and president-elect, meets quar-terly to establish policies. Traditionally, the RI presi-dent, who is elected annually, develops a theme and emphasis for the year.

The Secretariat RI is headquartered in Evanston, Illinois, USA, with seven international offices in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Korea, and Switzerland. The office of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI), located in England, serves clubs and districts in that region. The Secretariat's active man-aging officer is the general secretary, who heads a 650-member staff working to serve Rotarians world-wide.

5

Council on Legislation The Council on Legislation, Rotary's "parliament", meets every three years to deliberate and act upon all proposed enactments and resolutions submitted by clubs, district conferences, the RIBI Conference or General Council, and the RI Board. The Council itself also makes proposals.

The Trustees of The Rotary Foundation The 15 directors of The Rotary Foundation are ap-pointed by the RI president, with the agreement of the RI Board. The Trustees manage all business of the Foundation. The trustee chair, who serves for one year as chair, is head of the Trustees. Each trustee is appointed to a four-year term.

Gary has recounted his experience in business and his life within Rotary in a 2004 book entitled Finding Solutions, Not Excuses. This year, I am urging all Rotarians to Light Up Rotary by participating in Rotary Days. The Rotary Day concept is a simple one: hold a fun, informal event in your communi-ty for the non-Rotary public and use it as an opportunity to introduce them to Rotary. It’s that easy. Rotary Days can help your club drive up interest in membership, strengthen your club’s relationships with local institutions and community members, and improve Rotary’s image in your community. Imagine the collective impact we can have if all 34,000 Rotary clubs worldwide make a concerted effort to introduce the public to the fun, rewarding experiences that we all enjoy as Rotary members.

Gary C.K. Huang President, Rotary International, 2014-15

10

Hosting a Rotary Day Any club, big or small, can host a Rotary Day. Neighboring clubs can pool their resources and cohost a Rotary Day event, and even entire districts can come together to host a large-scale Rotary Day.

Rotary Days can take any form, as long as they are fun and ap-pealing to the non-Rotary public. Here are just a few possibilities:

Hold an outdoor picnic or barbecue

Host a sporting event or concert

Organize a family fun run

Align the event with a public parade or festival

Sponsor an event at a museum, art gallery or cultural center

Secure an auditorium or arena and plan a ticketed reception or buffet dinner

Share your Rotary Day plans by adding your club’s event to the member calendar on rotary.org

Tips for Rotary Day planners

Feature guests that will appeal to a non-Rotary audience. Consider inspirational speakers, celebrities, musicians, or other public figures.

If the event will offer food, keep it simple—for example, a barbecue buffet rather than a formal, sit-down meal.

Keep admission prices low. Approach local businesses to sponsor your event.

Make your event welcoming to families. Encourage members to bring their spouses, children and other relatives.

Avoid using Rotary jargon or referring to international traditions; present Rotary as an enticing opportunity for pro-spective members to make new friends, exchange ideas, and take action to improve their local community and the world.

Highlight the work of ordinary Rotary members doing extraordinary humanitarian work.

Consider including a hands-on service project as part of the event to give visitors the chance to see firsthand how Rotary benefits the community.

Recognize non-Rotary community members who embody Rotary’s service ideals.

Page 13: Rotary District 7280 Directoryrotaryclubofwarrenpa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/... · Peace - In an effort to educate tomorrow's peacemakers and ambassadors, up to 110 Rotary World

11

Seek coverage for the event in local news media.

Collect participants’ contact information and follow up within two weeks to invite them to attend a club meeting or event.

National Rotary Days In addition to the many club– and district– level Rotary Days that will take place this year, there will be a select number of national Rotary Days facilitated by current RI directors and other senior leaders. These events will convey Rotary’s relevance, highlight our good work, and appeal specifically to residents of the countries where they take place. Visit President Huang’s page on rotary.org after 1 July 2014 for details on these events.

Rotary Days recognition for clubs District governors are encouraged to give special awards to clubs that undertake successful Rotary Day events during 2014-15. Rotary will provide governors with an electronic template for a certificate.

Rotary Days photos Post photos from your Rotary Day event online using Instagram or Twitter and use the hashtag #RotaryDay to share your impact with Rotary’s online community. Photos of Rotary Day events around the world will be collected and shown at the 2015 Rotary International Convention in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Some photos may also be featured in The Rotarian magazine.

Rotary Days video contest Clubs and districts are invited to submit brief videos highlighting their Rotary Day events. President Huang will recognize one grand prize-winning club or district with a spe-cial award plaque. The winning video, along with videos from select finalists, will be featured on rotary.org and possibly at the 2015 Rotary International Convention in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Submissions must be less than three minutes long, use English or English subtitles, and be uploaded to YouTube. To submit your video for the contest, visit President Huang’s page on rotary.org between 1 July 2014 and 31 March 2015 and complete the online submission form.

Rotary is an organization that has some-

thing for everyone. All over the world, in

cities and towns, for well over a century,

Rotarians have come together to serve.

And in the years since Rotary was found-

ed, countless Rotarians and others have

discovered the joys of Rotary service,

through Rotaract, Interact, Rotary Community Corps, Youth

Exchange, and many other programs.

All of us are part of the family of Rotary. And we have all

gained so much from our Rotary service. We’ve made

friends, helped our communities, and made the world a bet-

ter, safer, and healthier place. We’ve become part of a truly

international network of volunteers, and we’ve learned how

much we can achieve when we put our differences aside

and work together.

Many of the ideas and values that we cherish in Rotary are

not unique to Rotary. Perhaps the reason Rotary resonates

so deeply with me is that I find many traditional Chinese

values reflected in Rotary: values of service and responsibil-

ity, of respect for family and for others.

It is not surprising, then, that the ideas of Confucius so often

guide me in my Rotary service. To me, Confucius was the

original Rotarian. More than two thousand years before Paul

Harris was born, he said:

To put the world in order, we must first put the nation in

order; to put the nation in order, we must put the family in

order; to put the family in order, we must first set our

hearts right.

In Rotary, we set our hearts right by putting Service Above

Self. And we recognize that in order to be ambitious in our

service, we must first care for our own organization and

expand our family of Rotary.

Page 15: Rotary District 7280 Directoryrotaryclubofwarrenpa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/... · Peace - In an effort to educate tomorrow's peacemakers and ambassadors, up to 110 Rotary World

13

In 2014-15, I will ask all of you to Light Up Rotary - by

sharing our service, strengthening our clubs, and letting our

light shine in our communities.

In this Rotary year, we will Light Up Rotary by reaching our

goal of 1.3 million Rotarians, bringing in new members while

working to keep the members we have. To do this, we’ll

need to approach membership in new ways, and try new

ideas. Hold a Rotary Day to give your community a chance to

learn more about Rotary. Remember that Rotary is a family

and is for the family: Encourage your spouse and other family

members to consider joining, and reach out to Youth

Exchange and Foundation alumni. Focus on your own club,

and look realistically at why members stay, and why they

leave. What can you do to make being a Rotarian an appeal-

ing and attractive opportunity for busy professionals and

those with young families?

We will also Light Up Rotary - and make history - by

eradicating polio. Polio eradication within the next few years

is absolutely realistic - if we keep up our momentum. So tell

your friends, associates, and elected officials how critical it is

that we End Polio Now. Donate to the PolioPlus Fund and

encourage others to do so as well. By meeting the newest

challenge issued by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we

can make our money work three times as hard. Be an active

part of the greatest public-private health partnership in the

history of the world, and share in the pride when the job is

finished.

In 2014-15, as we strengthen our clubs and Light Up Rotary

in more than 34,000 communities, our commitment and our

service will light up the world.

Ruzhdi earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Prishtina, Kosova and was a Fulbright Scholar, Graduate Studies – Mechanical Engineering at The Ohio State University.

Ruzhdi served as a Member of Parliament of Kosova from 1989-92 and was one of the founders of The Declaration of Independence of Kosova in 1990.

Ruzhdi Bakalli is the Founder of Rotary in the youngest country in the world, the Republic of Kosova. In June of 2000, when his country was still healing from the war wounds inflicted by Serbian forces, went back to the city where he was born, Gjakova (Kosova), with one goal, to establish the first Rotary Club in Kosova-Rotary Club of Gjakova.

This success was preceded by many months of lobbying and informative work activities with his fellow Gjakova residents and without leaving aside constant contacts with officers of the Rotary Clubs everywhere in the world, especially in the USA to support this initiative.

2014-2015 District 7280 Governor

He founded and served as President of the Rotary Club of Gjakova, Kosova, the first Rotary Club in Kosova from 2000 to 2008, and was named Honorary President for Life of the Gjakova Rotary Club. He also has served as President of the Warren, PA Rotary Club, 2010-2011.

During his years of service to Rotary, Bakalli has embraced the international aspect of Rotary. He has spoken to Rotary Clubs, both internationally and within the United States, about the founding and chartering of new clubs in Kosova. He also has been instrumental in leading efforts to bring international humanitarian aid to needy families, children and countries. His efforts helped in bringing food, supplies, clothing, medical supplies and equipment, fire trucks, ambulances and other aid to those in need. Since 2000 in coordination with the Oversea Project Team of District 1290 from Great Britain, Ruzhdi coordinated annual delivery of two big convoys of medical, school, firefighters and other equipment and supplies. In September of 2012 with the help of a Rotary Foundation Grant, Ruzhdi delivered 210 computers to Gjakova high and elementary schools. On May 26, 2011 Ruzhdi founded and charted the second Rotary Club in Gjakova, the Rotary Club of Gjakova-Qabrati. Due to his and fellow Kosova Rotarians work, today Rotary of Kosova has 11 chartered Rotary Clubs. Ruzhdi was inducted on June 18, 2013 as an Honorary Member for Life of Rotary Club of Gjakova-Qabrati.

Ruzhdi has met with Rotary International Presidents and directors to continue his international mission. In 2008 he met with President Bill Clinton, honoring him as Honorary Member for Life of the Rotary Club of Gjakova.

Ruzhdi has honored two Rotary International Presidents, Mr. Frank Devlyn, the first RI President to formally recognize Rotary in Kosova and Mr. Wilfrid Wilkinson who

During his term Rotary International President Wilfrid Wilkinson was honored as Honorary Member for Life of Rotary Club of Warren. Ruzhdi is a Major Donor and Member of Paul Harris Society. To date, Ruzhdi has personally sponsored more than 125 new Rotary members.

Huang, Rotary International Pres-ident Elect 2014-2015 as Honorary Member for Life of Rotary Clubs of Warren and Gjakova. Bakalli, for his achieved successes as a devoted Rotarian along with support from his Rotary friends has had great support from his family too, especially from his wife Afijete who is also a member of Rotary Club of Warren and PHF+8. Lee grew up in the Pennsylvania mill town of Clairton, South of Pittsburgh. He graduated from Clairton High School, Asbury College, and Boston University. He was a church pastor for 43 years in PA, Vermont and Massachusetts. For many years he also worked with organizations dealing with troubled youth. Since 2008, he has began a new career by becoming a Shaklee independent dealer with his wife Carol. They continue to build that business.

Rotary entered his life in 1974, when he finally said “Ok” to a group of friends who had persistently asked him to attend a meeting. As he says, “It’s been a great ride ever since; a life changer!” He has been a member of seven different Clubs, including a charter member and founder of one of them. Some of the Rotary positions he has held include two (so far) years as Club President, several officer positions within his club, served many years on ESSEX in VT and MA, was an AG for many years, and has been the District Membership Chair for several years. One of Lee’s joys is contributing to the Rotary Foundation and then giving a Paul Harris Award to some deserving person.

Lee is married to Carol and they live in the Greenville area on an old dairy farm. He only “farms” some large gardens and raises pumpkins for market. Some of his hobbies are photography, walking, making walking sticks, and collecting stamps and Halloween memorabilia. He reads non-fiction. He and Carol have 4 children—2 in Texas, 1 in Connecticut and 1 in Colorado. They own a condo in Las Vegas, and enjoy traveling around the world.

Rotary Foundation Educational Programs have a way of forging bonds between alumni and Rotarians that can last a lifetime. Former Ambassadorial Scholars, Rotary World Peace Fellows, and Group Study Exchange team members are often interested in joining a Rotaract or Rotary club, or a Foundation alumni association. Many Rotaract and Rotary clubs, in turn, are interested in inviting alumni to become members. This committee works to identify the Alumni and provides the clubs with the names of potential future members.

More than 110,000 people call themselves Rotary Foundation alumni. They include former participants of the following programs: Ambassadorial Scholarships (Rotary Fellows) Carl P. Miller Discovery Grants Group Study Exchange Rotary Grants for University Teachers Rotary Peace and Conflict Studies Program Rotary World Peace Fellowships (Rotary Cen-

Email: [email protected] Rotary clubs engage in service projects in thousands of communities all over the world. Rotary club members form a diverse, global network of volunteers united through a common commitment to the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peach through service. Representing a cross-section of professionals and business leaders in their local communities, Rotary club members tend to be knowledgeable about the local needs, priorities, customs, and resources that contribute to effective service projects. Effective projects, however, require more than an understanding of the community. They also depend on the club’s ability to effectively evaluate the community’s needs, plan relevant projects, and manage project resources.

District Simplified Grants enable districts to support service activities or humanitarian endeavors that benefit local or international communities. Requests may be submitted between 1 July and 31 March, and funds are available the following July. Matching Grants help Rotary clubs and districts car-ry out humanitarian projects with clubs and districts in other countries. The Rotary Foundation provides a one-to-one match for each US$1 District Designat-ed Fund/SHARE contribution and a $0.50 match for each new $1 cash contribution. Interact is a youth service club, sponsored by local Rotary clubs, for young people 14 to 18 years of age. The name is derived from “International Action Club”. Interact clubs are self-supporting and self-governing, and they receive guidance from a local sponsor Rotary club. The governing body of an Interact club is its board of directors. The board consists of the president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and any additional officers, depending on the size of the club. The board is required to meet at least once a month and report any action taken at the next Interact club meeting. During its meetings, the board reviews and approves the club’s plans and projects. The Rotarian and faculty advisers must attend all board meetings. Club members may also attend these meetings as observers.

The Paul Harris Society is a special district recognition program designed for Rotarians who wish to support The Rotary Foundation in a more substantial way each year. The Paul Harris Society recognizes Rotarians and friends of The Rotary Foundation who annually contribute US$1,000 or more to the Annual Programs Fund, PolioPlus, and PolioPlus Partners, or the Humanitarian Grants Program. The first Paul Harris Society was established in 1998 in District 5340 (California, USA) by District Governor Wayne C. Cusick. The idea gained momentum and quickly spread to other districts throughout the world. The Trustees of The Rotary Foundation officially approved the Paul Harris Society as a district-administered recognition program effective 1 July 2006.

PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY DISTRICT 7280 CHAPTER

The Paul Harris Society was established to recognize those who undertake to contribute $1,000 or more to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International each year. Membership is tracked by the number of consecutive years of giving $1,000 or more. The Rotary Foundation tracks giving only to the Annual Fund for the Paul Harris Society. The District 7280 Chapter recognizes those who give $1,000 or more annually to the Foundation’s Permanent Fund or Restricted Funds, as well as the Annual Fund giving, as long as the member informs the Coordinator of his/her eligibility.

We thank these Rotarians for their generous giving to the Rotary Foundation and hope that they will continue their generous giving and be joined by many more in the years to come. Questions, errors or omissions should be directed to Thomas Chelgren, the Chapter Coordinator at 814-938-2133 or email [email protected].

This fund enables individuals to combine their gifts into a significant force to address the world’s greatest needs for generations to come. The initial target of US$200 million for the Permanent Fund was met in 2005, six years ahead of schedule. The next target is $1 billion by 2025. In a Rotary year, about $8 million from the Permanent Fund is made available to support Foundation programs.

After 20 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating this tenacious disease, but a strong push is needed now to root it out once and for all. It is a window of opportunity of historic proportions. Contributions will help Rotary raise $200 million to match $355 million in challenge grants received from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The resulting $555 million will directly support immunization campaigns in developing countries, where polio continues to infect and paralyze children, robbing them of their futures and compounding the hardships faced by their families. As long as polio threatens even one child anywhere in the world, children everywhere remain at risk. The stakes are that high.

Ken Fleeson Rotary Club of Rich-Mar Rotary Fellowships Chair 117 Bayberry Lane Cranberry Township, PA 16066 Phone: 724-452-7339 Email: [email protected]

Rotary Fellowships are international, independently organized groups of Rotarians, Rotarian spouses, and Rotaractors who share a common vocation or recreational interest. Rotary Fellowships give their members the opportunity to have fun, make new friends around the world, and enhance their experience in Rotary.

Rotary Fellowships began informally in 1928 when Rotarians with a shared interest in international language Esperanto joined together. The scope of fellowships has changed significantly over the years, but their purpose remains the same: to unite Rotarians in friendship and provide opportunities to enjoy favorite recreational or professional activities. Many fellowships also use their special interests to serve others.

Rotary International has established specific policies for forming a Rotary Fellowship. The RI Board of Directors evaluates each prospective group before deciding whether to formally recognize it. However, each fellowship operates independently of RI, with its own rules, dues requirements, and administrative structure. Membership is open to all Rotarians, Rotarian spouses, and Rotaractors.

To learn more about the fellowships currently recognized by RI, go to www.rotary.org/fellowships.

The Rotary Friendship Exchange program gives Rotarians and their families the opportunity to host and visit Rotarians around the world. In addition to experiencing other cultures and making lasting friendships, an exchange provides a strong foundation for carrying out other international activities and service projects.

Each year, the district governor appoints a Rotary Friendship Exchange chair to coordinate the district’s exchange program.

The primary goal of a Friendship Exchange is to build greater international understanding and goodwill among Rotarians and their families. In addition, exchange participants can: Learn how their vocations are practiced in other parts

of the world. Observe new customs and cultures. Promote an appreciation of cultural diversity

worldwide. There are two main types of Friendship Exchanges: the visitor exchange and the team exchange. In both types, the participating districts agree upon the number of people or couples participating, length of stay, and other details. Rotary Friendship Exchanges are expected to be reciprocal.

John Sechriest Rotary Club of Warren Vocational Service Chair 1143 Wright Rd. Warren, PA 16365 Phone: 814-723-1967 Email: [email protected]

What is vocational service? If you are an active, engaged Rotarian, you probably view vocational service as a way of life, even if you find it difficult to articulate a clear definition.

The Object of Rotary is a philosophical statement of Rotary’s purpose and the responsibilities of Rotarians. The concept of vocational service is rooted in the Second Object, which calls on Rotarians to “encourage and foster”:

High ethical standards in business and professions.

The recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations.

The dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society.

As a Rotarian, how can you put these ideals into action? Consider these suggestions:

Talk about your vocation in your club, and take time to learn about fellow member’s vocations.

Use your professional skills to serve a community.

Practice your profession with integrity, and inspire others to behave ethically through your own words and actions.

Help a young person achieve his or her career aspirations.

Guide and encourage others in their professional

development.

If you do any of these things, you are performing vocational service. And if vocational service motivates and energizes you, then you’re in the right place, because vocational service is the very essence of Rotary. It is what sets Rotary apart from other service organizations.

Exposure to different cultures ranks as one of the most powerful ways to promote international understanding and peace. The Rotary Youth Exchange program provides thousands of young students with the opportunity to meet people from other countries and to experience new cultures, planting the seeds for a lifetime of international understanding.

The district chair coordinates and promotes Youth Exchange activities within the district and communicates with Rotary Inter-national, the district governor, and clubs. In consultation with the district governor, the chair appoints the district committee and defines specific responsibilities for each member.

Each year, about 8,000 young people participate in Rotary’s Youth Exchange program. As unofficial ambassadors for Rotary and for their countries, students bring the world closer together while making lifelong friends.

Definition of an Effective Rotary Club

Effective Rotary clubs 1) Sustain or increase their membership base. 2) Implement successful service projects in their

community and communities in other countries. 3) Support The Rotary Foundation, both financially

and through program participation. 4) Develop leaders capable of serving in Rotary

beyond the club level. District governors’ responsibility to identify clubs that need assistance in increasing their effectiveness.

Club Board of Directors and Officers The board of directors is the governing body of the club. The board is constituted as set forth in each club’s bylaws. The board is expected to meet at least monthly. The officers of a club are the president, president-elect, the immediate past president, and one or more vice presidents (all of whom shall be members of the board), and a secretary, a treasurer, and a sergeant-at-arms (who may or may not be members of the board as the bylaws of the club shall provide).

Qualifications The qualifications of a club’s board of directors and officers are set forth in the Standard Rotary Club Constitution. Each officer and director must be a member (other than honorary) in good standing of the club. The president must also, while president-elect, attend the presidents-elect training seminar and the district assembly.

and possess the esteem and confidence of the members.

2) Sufficient time and be prepared to give the time and effort necessary to lead and carry out the work of the club.

3) Served in the club as a board member, a member of one or more of the major committees, or club secretary.

4) Attended one or more district conferences and international conventions.

5) A working knowledge of the club’s constitution and bylaws (RCP 10.020.). The duties of a club’s board of directors and officers are as set forth in the bylaws of each club.

Club President’s Duties 1) Preside at meetings of the club. 2) Ensure that each meeting is carefully planned,

opening and adjourning on time. 3) Preside at regular meetings (at least once a

month) of the board of directors. 4) Appoint club committee chairs and members

who are qualified for the jobs assigned. 5) Ensure that each committee has definite

objectives and is functioning consistently. 6) Attend the district conference. 7) Cooperate with the governor in various club and

district Rotary matters, and ensure that all correspondence is handled promptly.

8) Supervise the preparation of a club budget and

the proper accounting of club finances, including an annual audit.

9) Ensure that a comprehensive training program is implemented by the club, and appoint a club trainer(s) to carry out the training, if needed.

10) Ensure that important information from the governor’s monthly letter and other bulletins and literature from the Secretariat and governor are passed on to club members.

11) Submit in June a comprehensive report to the club on the status of its finances and the extent to which the club has achieved its objectives for the year.

12) Work cooperatively with the president-elect before leaving office to ensure the smooth transition of authority, including the transfer of all relevant records, documents, and financial information.

13) Arrange a joint meeting of the incoming and outgoing club boards to ensure the success of the new administration and to provide the continuity of administrations.
