Dear Parents/Caregivers ________________________________________________________________________ NOTIFICATION OF PPTA MEETING On FRIDAY 23 NOVEMBER 2018 there will be a PPTA Union Meeting for all Rotorua Secondary teachers, which is allowed for under the terms of their Collective Agreement. This means the school will only be able to have classes for periods 1, 2 and 3 on that day. Students will be required to go home at 12.30 pm Charter bus will leave the school at 12.45 pm The school will remain open and non-union teachers will supervise any students who need to remain at school. _______________________________________________________________________ FROM THE BOT The following policies are currently up for review. MATHS DEPARTMENT

The Maths Department are running Tutorials to prepare students for the

upcoming External exams on the dates shown below. Students need to

attend in correct school uniform and sign in AND out at the Duty Deans

Office each time. There will be a timetable in the Duty Deans Office

showing the rooms the tutorials will be in.

TOP TOWN

A TOP TOWN has been organized by our Heads of House for Junior students. It will be held on

FRIDAY 30 NOVEMBER from 9 am until 2.15 pm. TOP TOWN is purely a fun day about participation and enjoyment. All students must wear their PE uniform to school that day to join in the fun activities.

YEAR 13 LEAVERS DINNER

The Year 13 Leavers dinner will be held on Thursday 6 December at Rydges Hotel at 7 pm

seated for dinner at 7.30 pm.

Tickets are now on sale at the school office until Friday 30 November all tickets must

be paid in full by this date- $55.00 per head. Tickets must be presented at the door. Students who have booked their tickets please come and collect from student reception. All students must be accompanied by a Parent/Caregiver. Permission slips are available at student reception.

Electives are 3 – 5 December 2018. Please can all parents / caregivers ensure elective fees are paid in

full BEFORE these dates to avoid disappointment. Thank you.

2018 JUNIOR PRIZEGIVING

Junior Prizegiving will be held on Friday 7 December 2018 at 11.30 am (to approximately

1.30 pm). A warm invitation is extended to all parents / caregivers to attend Please be seated before 11.30 am

SENIOR UNIFORM FOR 2019 YEAR 12 STUDENTS

A reminder to parents of this year’s Year 11 students that they will need to buy the new Senior Uniform for their students going into Year 12 next year and then on to Year 13 the following year:

GIRLS need a plain blue skirt and a white shirt. BOYS need a white shirt.

All items can be purchased from The Rugby Shop. There may be some second-hand items available through the school.

Donations of old uniform will be gratefully accepted by the school – thank you.

We remind all senior students to keep up with their NCEA external revision.

SLIPS MUST BE BROUGHT TO EACH AND EVERY EXAM.

Reminders for exams

Students need to arrive early, be in full school uniform, including being clean shaven. If there are any issues, parents / caregivers / students should contact Ms J Sturme as soon as they arise.

TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS

Last Friday Lily Gordon and Nic Battersby went to Papamoa to play in the BOP Secondary Junior Tennis

Champs. They both did really well with Lily coming runnerup in the div.1 girls and Nic 3rd in the div.2 boys.

Great results – well done!
