From this, it is clear that the music for the trailer is not quite fully complete and needs tweaking to improve the overall effect it has on the trailer and audience. With 50% of participants answering ‘below 7’, I understand that this is not good enough and work needs to be done, such as adding more audio layers and sound effects.

I am thrilled that the majority of the viewers were able to identify the genre as being a thriller, this indicates that I have used enough forms and conventions typical of a thriller to make it quite clear that it is a thriller, in the hope thriller fans can relate and enjoy.

I am extremely proud of this result and with this only being a rough cut, it gives me full confidence that the final product will be even more persuasive for the audience, thus encouraging them even more to watch the full film. The narrative, mise en scene, sound and editing must already be to a good standard for people to want to watch on.

Although only 20% said they would rather a voiceover, I will take this 20% into consideration. I have come to a conclusion that some people answered that they would rather a voiceover because as a first time viewer, the trailer offers a lack of contextual information to help you understand what is happening.

There was a range of responses to their favourite part of the rough cut, however with 40% saying that the car crash was their favourite, it was clear that this is the part which sticks out the most. Answers which come up multiple times, I will not look much further into improving as they are clearly already to a good enough standard.

Several people said that their least favourite part of the trailer was the swing scene, from this I can conclude that this is due to several reasons- the lack of audio and music, which makes it boring or the lack of action. Because of this negative feedback about the swing scene, I will therefore look to add some slow motion to the shot, and some more fast paced additional music.

At the current stage I am at, I was expecting results lower than this. With the rough cut not being my finished product and with many improvements still to come, I am pleased with the overall positive feedback. The fact I received no results below 6 suggests that I have got the basics right so far and the trailer is set up with the correct codes and conventions to eventually become a successful thriller trailer.
