#NPLNSWCLUB WELCOME

Good evening and welcome to what promises to be a bumper round eight

National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s clash under lights at Cromer Park this Saturday.

Manly United return to play in front of their fans - who will be hoping for one way traffic across 90 minutes.

The last time Paul Dee’s men were on home soil, it was an absolute thriller, with United recovering from a 3-0 deficit to nab a deserved point versus Rockdale on April 14.

Tonight’s opponents from the Shire, coached by peninsula local Grant Lee, have been the surprise packet of the competition.

Tipped by many in pre-season to struggle in 2018, Sutherland drew 3-3 with league leaders APIA Leichhardt last start and are sitting in fifth spot on the ladder.

Travis Oughtred is the player to watch for Manly United.

He has been a model of consistency across the first seven rounds, breaking down countless attacking raids and also popping up to score a few goals, all of which have been quality finishes from the veteran.

For the visitors, Adrian Vranic has been in scintillating form for the Sharks, and is definitely the man United need to contain come kick-off at 7pm.

See you at the game and go you mighty Manly United FC!

NPLNSW.COM.AU 1ST GRADE MATCH PREVIEW

Manly United are one win outside the top five and will be determined to claim all

three points when they host Sutherland Sharks on Saturday night.

Paul Dee’s Manly squad have slowly hit their straps after a horror start and are on track to return to their very best.

Last week they snatched a late win against Sydney FC and showed plenty of fighting spirit against a resilient Young Sky Blues outfit.

Travis Oughtred was a rock in defence and even stepped up to nod home the winner in a brilliant performance from the defender

Sasa Macura was another stand out player with his work in midfield helping Manly break down a slick opposition attack.

The club will hope that custodian Dylan Mitchell is raring to go after coming off injured in their match last weekend.

Their opponents this week are Sutherland Sharks fresh from a high scoring 3-3 draw with league leaders APIA.

The Sharks have come on in leaps and bounds from last year’s struggles and are deservedly in with a shot of finals football sitting in fifth position on 11 points.

Jacob Tratt will be the defensive leader once again for Sutherland as they attempt to hold out Manly’s skilful attacking players.

While what else can be said about the competition’s in-form striker Adrian Vranic?

The bustling attacker is on fire as he leads the top goalscorer’s charts with seven goals to his name.

A game that can go either way with both sides capable of top quality football.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSSydney FC 1 – Manly United FC 2 at Lambert Park

Manly United have earned a hard-fought three points after edging Sydney FC 2-1 at Lambert Park on Saturday night.

Goals to Manly’s Sasa Macura and Travis Oughtred cancelled out an equaliser from Sydney FC’s Sam Mcillhatton to secure a victory for the visitors.

Manly United found their groove in the second stanza after a slow start to the match but it wasn’t all easy going with the Young Sky Blues creating chances on the counter attack.

The experience of Manly proved the difference in the end taking full advantage of Sydney FC’s lapses in concentration to secure the win.

Sutherland Sharks 3 – APIA Leichhardt Tigers 3 at Seymour Shaw

An Adrian Vranic penalty ten minutes from full time has helped Sutherland Sharks snatch a 3-3 draw with APIA Leichhardt Tigers at Seymour Shaw on Saturday night.

It was a topsy Turvy clash with both sides trading goals and the lead in a high scoring battle.

Themba Muata Marlow helped APIA to a perfect start when he found the back of the net less than 60 seconds into the contest, before Sutherland fired back only moments later through Vranic. Sutherland struck again midway through the opening stanza and were set to take the lead into the break before Sean Symons levelled the scores in the dying stages of the half.

A 62nd minute Jordan Murray goal had the visitors on track to collect the win before the Sharks were awarded a penalty in the 78th minute which Vrancic calmly dispatched to deny their opponents victory.

#NPLNSWFFA CUP UPDATEBIG MATCHES SCHEDULED FOR ROUND 5

Forty NSW teams have found out their FFA Cup fate as round 5 of the prestigious draw

was announced on Friday at Football NSW’s headquarters.

Led by Football NSW CEO Stuart Hodge as well as Local FC and former Sydney United and Marconi Stallions star Chad Gibson, the duo had the task of drawing out each of the forty teams schedules with matches set to take shape either on the 2nd and 9th of May.

As many as thirteen Football NSW Association clubs from across the state including four Football South Coast Association teams (Albion Park White Eagles, Tarrawanna Blueys SC, Bulli FC, Wollongong Olympic), three Central Coast Football Association teams (Terrigal United, Berkeley Vale SC, Killarney District SC) as well as sole representatives from the Eastern Suburbs (Maroubra United), Gladesville-Hornsby (Gladesville Ravens), Sutherland Shire (Kirrawee Kangaroos FC), Manly (Belrose Terrey Hills Raiders SC), Football Wagga Wagga (Henwood Park FC) and Shoalhaven Association (Bomaderry SC) are all still in contention of a place in round 6 of the Preliminary round draw.

A few exciting clashes have been announced with two all NPL NSW Men’s affairs taking shape, one at Seymour Shaw as the Sutherland Sharks take on Hakoah Sydney City East while at Cromer Park a massive encounter will feature 2017 Champions Manly United tackle red-hot Blacktown City who in recent seasons, have had fantastic runs in the FFA Cup Round of 32 and beyond.

It will be a tough task but Football Wagga Wagga’s Henwood Park FC will travel to Edensor Park where they will face NPL NSW Men’s outfit Sydney United 58 while Gladesville-Hornsby FA’s Gladesville Ravens will travel to Sydney West where they will battle NPL NSW Men’s side Marconi Stallions.

An all association affair will however dominate the headlines as Shoalhaven’s Bomaderry SC will host Central Coast Football’s Killarney District SC while giantkillers Kirrawee Kangaroos from the Sutherland Shire FA who recently knocked out State League Men’s side Nepean FC, will hope they can inflict the same pain on the Balmain Tigers FC.

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEWManly United face their toughest assignment

of the 2018 season when they welcome leaders Sutherland Sharks to Cromer Park on Saturday afternoon.

United have struggled to find their feet in the campaign so far and currently reside in 11th position having won a solitary match from their seven played. Although alarm bells won’t be ringing yet, Manly need to grab a foothold eventually or risk another underwhelming league campaign – but the side should be fired up for the visit of the imperious league leaders.

Sutherland will be aiming for their seventh win in a row as they aim to extend their lead at the top of the table. The reigning champions hold a four point advantage over second placed Blacktown City as things stand and although the season is still early Nick Dimovski’s side look odds on for a repeat of their 2017 double.

The Sharks possess one of the most experienced and talented rosters in the competition and are capable of producing goals from all over the pitch. With six goals to his name forward James Temelkovski has produced some sterling displays for Sutherland in the campaign’s opening months and will be one of many Sharks threats the out of form Manly defence must marshal closely to stand a chance of an upset.
