DASH BUSThe DASH system provides safe, reliable and courteous bus service within the City of Alexandria and connects with Metrobus, Metrorail, VRE and other local bus systems. dashbus.com
METROBUSThe Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) operates Metrobus, which consists of 335 routes and 15,000 bus stops throughout Virginia. There are bicycle racks on all buses. Hours vary according to route.wmata.com
FAIRFAX CONNECTORThe Fairfax Connector system serves a number of communities throughout Fairfax County and Alexandria. All buses are wheelchair equipped.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector

BIKE
Alexandria joined the regional Capital Bikeshare network in September 2012 and now has a total of 31 bikeshare stations in Old Town, Del Ray and Carlyle. More people than ever are using their bicycles for errands and riding on the popular Mount Vernon and W&OD trails. The City is a silver-level Bicycle Friendly Community. capitalbikeshare.com
WALK
Alexandria is often recognized as one of the most walkable cities in the U.S. This is primarily because of a rich tradition of smart urban design. We also emphasize accessibility, safe routes to schools and transit and encourage active living through use of the extensive park and trail system. The City is a silver-level Walk Friendly Community.
RAIL
METRORAILMetro consists of 117.5 miles of rail lines and 91 stations throughout Virginia, Washington, DC and Maryland. There are four Metro stations in Alexandria: Braddock Rd, King St, Eisenhower Ave and Van Dorn St. The Blue and Yellow Lines serve the City of Alexandria. wmata.com
VRE (VIRGINIA RAILWAY EXPRESS)VRE is a commuter rail service, operating Monday through Friday. Service is provided from Northern Virginia suburbs to Alexandria, Crystal City, and downtown Washington, DC.vre.org
TROLLEY
KING STREET TROLLEYThe King Street Trolley is a free service operating between the Potomac River Waterfront and the King Street Metro Station, a one-and-a-half mile route.
