We talked to Row@n member Georgina Brant about her award winning Fashion Promotion Project, undertaken as part of her BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion degree at the University of South Wales earlier this year. Rowan is very proud to have been a source of inspiration!
“My key interest within the fashion industry has always been the whole DIY aspect of creating your own style towards fashion and street style. Knitting has always been a hobby since I was very young, my mother Sharon Brant taught me and introduced me to Rowan Yarns. I have always had a deep passion and connection with Rowan as a brand and always
major project for university. Seeing girls on my course choosing typical high street and fashion brands, I wanted to introduce the university to something new. The brief to the project, which I had to create and write myself, was a Brand Extension & Promotional Strategy for Rowan Yarns. I created a sub-brand/collection for the project called Mode. The project took four months and the research went over fourteen chapters, which ended up being 340 pages!”

To celebrate Wool Week 2013, on the 17th October, Rowan will be joining forces with John Lewis Oxford Street and Edinburgh to run a FREE fashion focussed knitting class and drop-in, teaching you how to use bright colours and new techniques to create high fashion patterns.
There will also be LIVE knitting all week in the John Lewis Oxford Street window as knitters stitch their way around a plain white living room scene, transforming it into a woollen wonderland. Celebrity knitting fan Oliver Proudlock will also be joining the fun.
To register or check class schedules please visit: www.campaignforwool.org or drop into the John Lewis Haberdashery Department in John Lewis (Edinburgh / Oxford Street).
