Unique round

in Wills CupA staggering 51-pointer ... a hole-in-one ... a rreak shot into a baUwash '"

and competition leader KUTIABUL's two losses,

They have been recenthighlights in the Wills Cupmidweek golf competition.

Stephen Mclaren's 51stableford points - 15under his Ashlar club handicap.of 24 - was one of thebest individual scores onrecord in Wills Cup inrecent years.

He was a mere threeshots over par after 27points on Ihe first nine andstunned his experiencedinter-Service rivals in theopposition KUTTABULlineup,

He can expect 10 lose upto four shots from his clubhandicap,

His PtATS'WAl'ERHENside totalled 221 points some 41 shots under theirfive combined handicapsat a Rosnay course ratedthree below its 66-par onthe day.~Nobby" Nobes had 45,

Bob Humphreys 44, DaveJ~41~su~rT~~r

Soward 40 for the winner.KUTfABUL hada mere

205 with Tom Kolosko 43,Andy Casey, Wayne Clemmell and Steve Day (including a hole-in-one) all',\ith 4ls~ Bob Bowen 39.

KUTTABUL's loss wasits second in two matchesand its third of the season,

In the August 9 round aMark Lewis freak shot -,three iron into a ball wash(on the fly) - was the chiefdiscussion point as thegreens went down toALBATROSS.

Mark's "ace" came at hishome Cabramatla course.

He has one genuine holein-one to his name and, as aState player and twomarker, there"s a chance ofmore.

However, he's definitehe'll never be able to repeatthe feat offinding again thebarely ball-size opening ofa ball wash!

ALBATROSS, with asemi-final berth well insight, totalled 160 (PeteGilbert 37, Peter flanagan33, Tony Guyalt 31, BenDerwent-Smith 30) todown KUTTABUL 151(Peter Simpson 34 and"Foxy" Cunningham - i,his farewell game - 31).
