YACHTMAN & YACHTNAVIGATOR

Organised by ‘Belgische Maritieme Liga’ – ‘Ligue Maritime Belge’ Every participant can go for these trainings. Candidates, having certificates, are welcome for refreshment as well.

YACHTMAN (Federal Service Transport & Mobility)

o 50 hours of theory taught on board - max. 6 hours / day o min. 2 hours / day of practice on board o possibility of pre-requisite training ashore before the trip (2 days)

YACHTNAVIGATOR (Federal Service Transport & Mobility)

o 100 hours of theory taught on board – max. 6 hours / day o theory upgrade from YM to YN : 50 hours o min. 2 hours / day of practice on board including practical celestial

navigation o possibility of pre-requisite training ashore before the trip (1 day)

EXAMINATIONS aboard (1st & 2nd session) at the end of the trip

Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS)

• SRC : only pleasure crafts (8 hours training) o Only A1 areas (coast) o Radio equipment : VHF / DSC class D – EPIRB – SART - NAVTEX – WATA

• ROC : restricted operator certificate (for professionals – 24 hours training) o Only A1 areas (coast) o Radio equipment : VHF / DSC class A – EPIRB – SART - NAVTEX – WATA

• GOC : general operator certificate (for professionals – 32 hours training) o All sea areas : A1 & A2 & A3 & A4o Radio equipment : idem ROC + MF/HF + INMARSAT

• GMDSS SRC & ROC taught on board without exam (still 1 day training ashore for ROC & exam by BIPT) o Simulation on VHF-DSC class A & D equipment & limited practical exercises with other radio

equipment on the bridgeo Theoretical course dealing with basic radio technics & radio procedures & regulations &

geography & maritime English

Not included in commercial yachting (STCW)
