Royal-Hamilius Rooftop Restaurant welcomes one of the greatest successes of the Paris restaurant sector:

MANKO Paris

An iconic figurehead is moving to join the Royal-Hamilius Rooftop Restaurant at the end of 2019. Manko Paris – result of the partnership between Gaston Acurio, Garou and Moma Group – has put Peruvian cooking at the forefront of the Parisian restaurant scene. It was in the old Drouot auction rooms (where the film ‘Fauteuils d’Orchestre’ was made), at 15 avenue Montaigne, that the MANKO Paris restaurant opened its doors in February 2016, already regarded as an institution among Parisian addresses. Building on the success of its restaurant in Paris, Moma Group will set up a MANKO restaurant and bar in the Royal-Hamilius complex in Luxembourg City.

Moma Group, present in Paris, but also in Saint-Barthélemy or Saint- Tropez, has decided to open a restaurant in Luxembourg City in order to make the most of the rooftop of the Galeries Lafayette building and to offer a unique venue in the city centre. A MANKO restaurant will open in September 2018 in Doha. This will be the first roll out of the concept after Paris and before Luxembourg at the end of 2019. The concept of this Peruvian gem will thus be replicated for the great pleasure of the people of Luxembourg. The venue will be used for events and a restaurant in Luxembourg This project will be developed by Manko International, Joint Venture between Manko Paris and Acurio Restaurantes, based in London and intended for the international expansion of the Manko brand.

Signature dishes of the restaurant include: ceviche (raw white fish marinated in tiger’s milk with sweet potato, choclo maize and cancha) and tiraditos and also nikkei, anticuchos …. Bon appétit!

Benjamin Patou, President of Moma Group: ‘Every Moma Group venue and restaurant needs an exceptional location. It is for this reason that the very natural desire came about to set up MANKO in the rooftop of the luxurious Royal-Hamilius complex, in the heart of Luxembourg. The Luxembourg City project is a fantastic challenge that Moma Group just had to take part in, alongside CODIC International. In Paris, our mission is to transform slightly tired areas into brilliant venues by putting in creative and innovative designs. Royal-Hamilius has this same ambition: that of reviving the city centre by creating a new place to live for the inhabitants. And what a place to live! With a panoramic view over all of Luxembourg City and an exceptional hanging garden, Royal-Hamilius gives us the promise of wonderful evenings under the stars, in summer and in winter, at the heart of one of Moma Group’s most wonderful concepts: MANKO, a Peruvian gem that exists already in Paris - avenue Montaigne - and designed in collaboration with the singer Garou and the great chef Gaston Acurio. A concept worthy of this magnificent project.’

Thierry Behiels, CEO of CODIC International: ‘We are very pleased that Moma Group is expanding its expertise internationally by choosing Luxembourg. It’s a great opportunity and a real asset for the city of Luxembourg to have such a dynamic brand. With this new brand, we are continuing to locate concepts in Royal-Hamilius that are unprecedented for Luxembourg, which thus continues to take advantage of all these assets in order to become one of the most attractive capitals in Europe. Designed architecturally by Foster/Tetra, it was our wish, with commercial flagships of the calibre of Galeries Lafayette and Fnac, to welcome an exceptional name to complete the Royal-Hamilius offer and to make the most of the rooftop (6

th and 7

th floors) of the Galeries Lafayette building, with its breathtaking view of Luxembourg and

which can be reached by three panoramic lifts, each of which can take 20 people.

Benjamin Patou, always looking for venues with a very strong identity, will do his utmost to make this venue magical by means of the MANKO restaurant in which he will apply his four-fold expertise: décor, gastronomy, art of living and event management’.

MANKO: the concept dedicated to Royal-Hamilius

MANKO represents first and foremost the shared vision of three people who are absolutely passionate about what they do: the meeting and desires of the great chef Gaston Acurio, the bold entrepreneur Benjamin Patou and the international singer Garou.

It is also the brainchild of the most fashionable decorator of the moment – Laura Gonzalez. This laidback

Parisian is involved in a sequence of productions, creations and lighting projects for living spaces, with a

pronounced taste for partisanship and a desire to capture the soul of the place. Gilding in warm but stylish

colours, noble materials (traditional floor tiles, patinated wall brackets, tables and chairs made of precious

wood, brass metal work, gilded patina and aged silver leaves), Laura Gonzalez is not strictly bound by any

style and drew her inspiration from the exoticism of Peru, not to mention the expectations of demanding,

urban guests.

“Of course, I let myself be influenced by Peru, the Andes, South America, while distilling the history of such an

exceptional setting as the Avenue Montaigne and giving it its rightful prominence. The idea was to succeed in

conveying a new sense of its raw elegance ...”

Gaston Acurio, the star chef, is already the crowned king of Peruvian cooking worldwide. He is at the head of and at the ovens of more than about forty restaurants across the four corners of the planet, including the famous ‘Astrid y Gaston’ in Lima in Peru. For him, it’s all about the generosity of Peruvian cooking: for centuries, Peruvian cooking has welcomed all the cultures of the world. Influences from Japan, China and Africa have been fused with ancient Andean culture and the exuberance of the Amazon, giving rise to a unique world of flavours that are known about and shared today.

Sharing: this is how Peruvian cuisine is celebrated and this is how MANKO arrived in Paris through Moma Group. It was named ‘MANKO’ in homage to and with a wink to the legendary Inca ‘MANCO CÀPAC’, son of the Sun God, the founder of the Inca people.

Moma Group: a new concept for event management

Founded in 1993 and directed by Benjamin Patou, Moma Group is the leader in the event management industry and offers its clients an unprecedented range of services. With a sales revenue of 100 million euros excluding tax in 2018, the group has 800 employees spread across events and catering businesses: caterers, marketing and venue design, advice and displays, and who are all united by shared values and the certainty of bringing a new dimension to event management.

Moma Group has thus been a trendsetter in its willingness to bring together contents and container by offering integrated services: from décor to prestigious names and partnerships, right through to events programming and clientele.

In less than 4 years, Moma Group has opened 12 restaurants and bars in the heart of Paris and in seaside areas. Each design is unique. The restaurants are recognised as market benchmarks for restaurants in Paris and elsewhere. Their reputation is expanding and the number of their customers is growing all the time.

It was precisely this vision that made the Barrière group decide to acquire a 48% shareholding in Moma Group in February 2016. This bodes well for great opportunities for Moma Group in future years and will enable both groups, whilst maintaining their own identities, to optimise their expertise and to bring their art of entertaining to an ever-growing international market by exporting their best brands and concepts, as they are doing here in Luxembourg.

Royal-Hamilius: “The Ultimate Downtown Experience”

Royal-Hamilius is a new multifunctional business, office and housing complex developed by CODIC in the centre of the city of Luxembourg and which will open at the end of 2019. The project design is signed by Foster + Partners in partnership with Tetra Kayser & Associés.

Situated along the city’s most iconic roads, Boulevard Royal, Grand-Rue, Rue Aldringen and Avenue Monterey, it will extend the pedestrian zone, enhancing and adding dynamism to the whole area. The new area will be easily accessible due to the tram being put into service in 2019 and a car park of 630 parking spaces which will open its doors in autumn 2018.
