DID YOU KNOW? NEW reminders each month.:
June
If you happen to see a key left behind in
one of the mailboxes, don’t just remove
the key and bring it to the
office. Instead, make a note of the
mailbox number before bringing it to the
office. I can then get the correct address
and name from the mailman to notify
the resident of the lost key.
Please remind your visiting guests with
pets that it is necessary to pick up the
excrement. Never walk your dog
without keeping a baggie handy for
pickups!
For those who use the RV lot, please
remember to lock the gate behind you
after entering or when leaving the
lot. There are many expensive RV’s,
boats and other items which could be
stolen.
When calling the automated number for
the gate, there is sometimes interference
on the line that causes the system to not
recognize your number and ask for a
security code. If this happens, you can
hang up and try calling again. It will
sometimes correct itself and recognize
your number. However, if this does not
work, you must call the office (326-
8007) to verify that the phone numbers
in the system are correct and obtain a
security code.
Thank You from Debra Davis, LCAM

PRESCRIPTION BOTTLE COLLECTION SUSPENDED
I want to thank each and every person that contributed their
empty prescription bottles over the past year or so. I have
processed, and will be sending, over 1,000 of them to our
medical mission in Uganda that is supported by Blessed
Sacrament Catholic Church in Clermont. The bottles will be
used, instead of twists of paper or envelopes, to dispense
prescription medications safely, protecting both the drugs
and the children in the homes from accidental ingestion.
Already, donations from last year are in Uganda being used
in the hospital facilities at Our Lady of the Sick in
Kambala. May God bless all who have helped in this effort.
I will start the program up again in the late fall of 2016.

PRECINCT DATE TIME PLACE
No Meetings this month.
Note: MR = Rec Center Meeting Room, GH= Great Hall
Precinct Meetings DEBRA’S CORNER Community Association Manager
Good day Royal Highlands residents.
Today I spent the morning riding around this beautiful
community on a golf cart doing my periodic inspections.
During my travels I found beautiful homes, well maintained
to include: fresh paint, clean roofs, clean driveways (the
pavers that some of you have are so pretty), manicured lawns
that are green and thriving, plants, trees, and shrubs trimmed
and looking picture perfect, edging around the sidewalks,
driveways, curb, and yard decorations that compliment your
landscape! Kudos to those of you who have those picture
perfect homes/lawns. I believe we need to start a lawn of the
month. It may be difficult to decide on the winner, but I
think it would be a great idea.
For those of you reading this, you may realize that maybe
your home is in need of painting, pressure washing, new
roof, driveway cleaning, or your lawn needs WATER (found
quite a few homes need irrigation), maintenance of the lawn,
landscape beds, etc. Please help us in keeping your property
in good condition.
Reminders:
Shred box is at the mail kiosk
Please do not allow dogs to use the bathroom in your
neighbor’s yard even if you clean up. The grass
becomes discolored in the areas where the dog goes.
Please put yard trimmings out late Sunday or early
Monday morning the day of pick up. Please do not put
them out too early. It is not very attractive laying at the
street.
If you get mail in your mailbox that is not yours, please
take to the rightful owner or give it to the Post person, or
put it in the outgoing mailbox.
Can anyone tell me what the speed limit is in Royal
Highlands? EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THE ANSWER
TO THIS QUESTION!!! If you are the first person to call
me and tell me, you win a prize, [352-326-8344]. Next
month there will be another question from me. Stay on the
lookout. Until next time,
Debra Davis, LCAM, 352-326-8344

Comcast Bulk TV and Internet Communications On March 22, 2016 the RH Technology Committee presented its recommendation to the RHPOA Fi-
nance Committee to fund the negotiated Comcast Bulk Communications Proposal. It was passed by a
unanimous vote.
On March 30, 2016 the RH Technology Committee presented its recommendation to the RHPOA
Board of Directors to accept and move forward with the negotiated Comcast Bulk Communications
Proposal. It was passed by an 11-0 vote.
At this point, we only have a PROPOSAL from Comcast. Nothing will happen until we receive a written contract from Com-
cast, it is reviewed by the RHPOA attorneys, and the contract is approved and signed by the RHPOA Board of Directors.
The date we can start this contract will be determined by the amount of the marketing fee received from Comcast. HOA fees
cannot be increased until January, 2017. If we start earlier than that date, the board has approved paying for the increased
fees from the marketing fee. The RH Technology Committee anticipates starting the contract on or about July 15, 2106.
At this point, there is nothing to do but wait.
The RH Technology Committee will post updates as they become available on the RH webpage, in the Happenings and in
the Rec Center. Watch these locations for updated status on the pending contract.
Once we have a signed contract and a starting date is determined, residents will have a 90 day window to sign up for FREE
installations. The dates will be posted on the webpage and in the Rec Center.
Actual installations do not have to occur within that 90 day period, but residents must sign up during that period.
Snowbirds may sign up while they are up north (during that 90 day window) and have their installation completed when they
return to Royal Highlands. If you are out of town when the final dates are set, we will provide a phone number to call to
schedule your install.
If residents do not schedule their installations within the 90 day period they may be charged the prevailing installation fees.
Comcast will be on premises for scheduling and equipment pickup for those wanting to self-install.
The RH Technology Committee will be running articles in the Happenings and posting on the webpage topics that will help
with the implementation of the new contract.
To get the most up-to-date information about the pending contract visit the RH Webpage à http://royalhighlandspoa.com.
Look on the Popup page or go to the RH Technology Committee page at Menu à Board à Committee Agendas, Minutes,
Reports à Technology Committee. 459-0311, [email protected]
NEW COMCAST ESCALATION PROCEDURE Comcast has provided Royal Highlands with a new
Community Account Representative, Donna Marie Benson.
She was introduced in an article in January’s Happenings.
To report any issues with Comcast service, please contact
Comcast’s Bulk Call Center at [877-834-6757].
If, after you have contacted Comcast to report your issue, you
continue to have recurring unresolved issues, you may request
a special Escalation to have the issue resolved. Your
unresolved issue can be related to Comcast’s Cable TV,
Internet, or Phone service.
Escalation may only be initiated by RHPOA management.
To request Escalation for an unresolved reported problem,
stop by the RHPOA office to pick up a form or get the form
from the webpage, complete the Escalation form, then give
the completed form to the RHPOA office. You will have to
provide what steps you have taken to resolve the issue on
your own before escalation can occur. The RHPOA office
staff will then escalate your problem to a special Comcast
Center and track your issue.
Instructions on how to contact Comcast’s Customer Care
Center and copy of the escalation form are available on the
webpage under the Resources, Documents, Choose Category,
Comcast Documents. RH Technology Committee, [email protected]

CHRISTIAN BOOKS NEEDED
Reading is extremely important to the women housed at the Lake
County Jail. Everything has been taken from them including
their cell phones. So they can’t be phoning or texting family and
friends, playing games, or surfing the Internet. There is one
television in each pod, but it is set to the channel that the
corrections officer has chosen. Even if it is set to something a
woman wants to see, it may not be possible to hear it with all of
the other activity in the pod. Therefore with time on their hands
and not much to do, reading becomes very important. This is a
perfect opportunity to provide good quality Christian material for
them to fill their minds with.
Many, if not most, of the women in jail have not had what we
think of as a normal childhood. If your parent or parents are
drug addicts, for example, you don’t receive the proper nurturing
and you wouldn’t see normal family dynamics. You don’t see
and learn about interacting with others in a positive way. You
don’t see or understand how God is working in people’s
lives. Christian fiction is especially important because it gives
these women a chance to “see” all of these things in the stories
they read and that may be the only way that they’ll ever have an
opportunity to experience a loving, nurturing environment.
Please continue to donate your gently-used paperback Christian
books for use at the Lake County Jail by dropping them off at my
home at 4929 Kelso Street or by phoning me at 352-323-1913 to
arrange for pickup. Thank you for your book donations.. Diane Brown, 323-1913
MAD HATTERS TEA GROUP
SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER Time has passed so quickly and we have hosted 5
teas. What has been a dream of mine has been
accomplished. Seeing our residents meeting for the first
time and creating friendships has made starting the group
worthwhile. I would like to thank Chris Dagostino and
Judy Ramker for helping me with this group.
We have wonderful tea houses to investigate this
summer. Our next tea will be held in September and I
will let all of my tea friends know where and when it will
be held.
I am glad this group has been such a success. See you in
September!!!!
If you have any questions please call Bobbi Lilienfeld at

DINNER DATE GROUP The Dinner Date Group is winding down but
will start a new season in November 2016. If
you would like to join us, please email Jan
Sparks at [email protected] or text/call
Jan at [407 579-8978]
The Dinner Date Group is open to all residents of Royal
Highlands (including Duets (two Singles). Snowbirds or
others who may be here only during January, February and
March are encouraged to join. Substitutes are always
needed!
Our purpose is to enjoy each others company and meet
new people by having each couple dine with different
couples once a month. We will dine at different Dinner
Date member’s homes in Royal Highlands during
November, January, February, March and April. The
Dinner Date members will be given a schedule of Hosts
and Guests for the November-April time period. There are
three couples per group per house. One couple is the
“Host” and the other two couples are the “Guests”. Each
Dinner Date is held in the home of the Host couple. The
role of the “Host” is to contact guest couples early in the
month and agree on a date and a time. The “Host”
provides the entrée and asks the “Guests” to bring either a
vegetable or salad or a dessert. The Dinner Date may also
be a lunch or a brunch instead of dinner. This arrangement
rotates each month so that each couple will host only once
or twice during the season.
Hope to see you next Fall!

DANCE LESSONS & PRACTICE Monday, June 6, 13, 20, and 27
3:45 - 6 pm, Great Hall
This month, our lesson focuses on the basic
MAMBO/SALSA. It enjoys a rich past,
originating in the fertile mixture of Afro-
Caribbean and Latin American cultures
found on the island of Cuba. The music is
as fascinating as it is diverse. The Mambo/
Salsa is now enjoyed throughout the world
at both social and competition levels. Our
lesson will be from 3:45 to 4:30 pm.
After the lesson, we will have our dance/practice time with a
variety of music played for your listening and dancing
pleasure. We will also be around to help if you have any
questions on the lesson. If you are already a ballroom
dancer, please feel free to come and enjoy the music and the
wonderful dance floor we are so fortunate to have available
to our community.
There is a $1 pp charge for the lesson. The dance/practice is
FREE. Feel free to bring our own beverages and snacks.

LINE DANCING Fridays, 10-11:30 am, Great Hall
The Royal Highlands Line Dancers meet every Friday
morning from 10:00 until 11:30. If you have had any line
dancing experience, you should be able to dance with us. I
review each dance prior to playing the music, and then I cue
for the first few sequences.
I am still introducing new dances for my graduates and
repeating them for two additional weeks. Therefore it is a
good time to return to line dancing if you have been away
for a while. Line dancing is a highly enjoyable form of
aerobic exercise, plus you get to meet some really nice
people. Cost is $2 p/p.
Every third Friday some of us adjourn to
the Crown and Shield for lunch right after
class. Everyone is welcome, so please
plan to join us.

great class to learn popular R&B Line Dances. Come and

BIBLE STUDY Mondays, 1 to 3 pm
Great Hall Dressing Room
Would you like to experience more of Heaven here on earth
or Hell? The secret to experiencing Heaven here on earth is
being filled with the Holy Spirit. Do you
know that more than 90% of all Christians
are trying to go through life using less than
10% of the Holy Spirit’s power? Would
you like to see that changed dramatically in
your life?
Join us every Monday from 1 to 3 pm in Dressing Room A
in the Great Hall. Each week, we’ll discuss how to walk
more fully in step with the Holy Spirit by being more filled
with the Holy Spirit’s power!
This Bible Study is led by Pastor Bob Chase, a Royal
Highlands resident.
Come join us as we study God’s Word together. Pastor Bob Chase, 787-8160
SUNDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY Gospel of Acts,
TIME CHANGE
Sundays, 3 pm, Meeting Room
The Sunday Night Bible Study of the Gospel of Acts will
resume on October 16. It will be Sundays at 3:00 pm in the
Rec Center Meeting Room.
Our study ended on May 1; however, everyone will be
welcome to join us for Bible Study on Sunday afternoons
at 3:00 in the Rec Center starting October 16.
We will resume with the gospel of Acts, studying it verse by
verse to learn how to live more like Jesus. “Acts is the
connecting link between Christ’s life and the life of the
church, between the Gospels and the Letters.” Its purpose is
“to give an accurate account of the birth and growth of the
Christian church” and it is the “sequel to the Gospel of
Luke.” Please join us on October 16

ROYAL PIECEMAKERS Tuesdays, 1-3 pm, Rec Center Craft Room
The 8" blocks we were working on in May, called Twisted
Roads, are looking fantastic. Everyone picked out
incredible fabric to use and the outcome has resulted in
some stunning quilt tops. We'll post a photo when we get
them all quilted and complete. It never ceases to amaze me
how using different fabrics can create a totally different
look. The block is easy to make but very time consuming.
Our June agenda is still not finalized but we have some
interesting suggestions. Please stop by and join us with
whatever projects you are working on. Don't forget to wear
your nametag --- lots of new people are joining our group
and it's hard to keep track of everyone's name.

DAR [Daughters of the Revolution]
The Mary Ellen Robertson Chapter of DAR ( Daughters of
the Revolution) was founded here in Royal Highlands in
2003. It is a group of ladies 18 or over that can trace their
ancestors back to the Revolutionary War, 1776 and whose
ancestor assisted in some way to the creation of this
country. Dar was organized in 1890 with the simple mission
of promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism,
the same principles by which we honor to this day. We are a
non profit organization, women's volunteer serving the Lake
County Community.

NEW - SIT AND SEW 2nd & 4th Wednesday, 9 am - 2 pm, Craft Room
We started an open "Sit and Sew" group in May that is
meeting on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. This
"Sit and Sew" will be held in the Craft Room from 9 am to 2
pm during the months of May, June, July, August,
September, October, November and December.
There seems to be quite a bit of interest in this group. Seeing
other talented people work on their projects really gets our
creative juices flowing and it's always fun to get together with
people who share our interests.
Any Royal Highlands resident interested in sewing with our
group is invited to join in on the fun. If you want, you are
welcome to bring your lunch, snacks and a drink. You can
stay for a little bit or you can stay the entire time -- it is
totally up to you. You also do not have to come to every
session - come just when you want company while working
on projects.
It's always nice to have someone to bounce questions off of
and even get some helpful hints so I hope you will be able to
join us. Hope to see you there. Happy Sewing! Jo Buse, [email protected], 630-715-5091

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SPRINKLER ASSISTANCE
We need volunteers to help residents
program their irrigation systems. If you are
mechanically inclined or a techie, we would
greatly appreciate your help.
When a request comes in, I send an email to
all volunteers who are part of the Sprinkler
Committee with the resident’s name, address, and phone
number. I try to indicate in the email if it is just a
programming problem or sprinkler head adjustment so
volunteers know in advance what type of help is needed.
You respond to the email if you are able to assist. Volunteers
are only asked to help with programming.
Sprinkler heads needing adjustment or replacement are outside
the volunteer scope. However, some volunteers agree to do
this work for a fee. If you’re willing to add your name to our
list of helpers, please call me. Thank You!

CERAMICS, OUT OF THE KILN NEWS Friday & Saturday, 9 am-5 pm,

Pictured above is our
Student of the Month,
Sharon. I talked with
her and told her that
she would be the next
student featured in the
Ceramics article in the
Happenings.
She gave a big smile and said she liked the idea of the picture
article. She wanted to express in her own words why she
likes coming to our class. So, in her own words...... “I've
been coming to Ceramics for about three years. I became
interested when M.T. invited me. I attended my first class
and became ‘hooked’. It’s a lovely group of ladies to work
with and lots of projects to select from. A great way to relax
and create home decor.”
So we say to Sharon-- it's been fun getting you Hook, Line
and Sinker! For those of you who would like to be our next
"Catch", you can call M.T. Pearson ( 314-2964 ). Betty Elliott, 728-6355

GUARDIAN AD LITEM Change the Life of a Child
Become a Volunteer
Over three hundred Lake County children are involved with
our local courts due to abuse and neglect. Most have been
placed with willing relatives or compassionate
strangers. All of them need your help.
The Guardian ad Litem Program is a state and county
funded organization that relies on trained volunteers to
speak up for these children and make sure they are safe and
protected and provided the services necessary to overcome
their circumstances. These volunteers, who are supervised
by human service professionals and attorneys, make a
profound and lasting difference in these children’s lives.
If you wish to join our team of child advocates and improve
Lake County, call the number below. Our next pre-service
volunteer training will be held here in the Royal Highlands
Recreation Center on July 29 and 30, beginning at 9:00 am.
You must pre-register to attend. For more information
contact Sue Trump by calling [352-343-2736] or visit us on

ROYAL ART GROUP 1st, 3rd, & 5th Thursdays, 1-5 pm
Rec Center Craft Room
The newest member of the Royal Art Group
[RAG] is Dan Henderson who is displaying his artwork for
the month of June in the Rec Center lobby. Dan always
enjoyed art and really started painting about six years ago.
Dan and his wife, Judy [ask her about the art of
ZenTangle], moved to Royal Highlands in August 2015. He
quickly involved himself in many activities, one of which is
serving as a precinct representative for Precinct #3.
Although he usually does landscapes, Dan is showing one
of his abstracts. You will enjoy his oil and acrylic paintings
that are displayed. Contact Dan @ [787-4423] if interested
in any of his paintings.
Members of RAG also have paintings in the Library. Do
come to the Craft Room with your paints to enjoy the music
and some interesting conversations. Louise Lamb 360-1315

WATER COLOR CLASS
Thursday, 1-4 pm, June 9
Rec Center Craft Room
What a talented group of watercolor painters in this class!
It has been fun to see how well everyone has progressed
since our first class in January. This will be our last class
for the summer, and there will be homework for the
summer months, so don't miss this class! We will begin
again in September, right after Labor Day. Look for a
notice in the August Happenings. Don't take a summer
break from painting, just from coming to class! Nita Amundson, 315-1919
Meditation Club Sunday, June 12, 2 - 3:30 pm
Welcome to Meditation Club! Please join us to start or
strengthen your meditation practice, and learn additional
tips and techniques. You don’t have to sit on the floor in
lotus position -- unless you want to! We teach beginners
how to get started and develop the meditation skills of expe-
rienced members. We discover and explore the many medi-
tation techniques practiced worldwide. Meditating in a
group is a fun and healthy way to socialize and learn a skill
that is good for your mind, body, and spirit. We aim to cre-
ate a community around the pursuit of living a more mind-
ful and reflective life. Coming together with a shared inten-
tion can have profound impacts on our lives, our communi-
ties, and our universe.
Over the summer we will meet only once a month on the
second Sunday (June 12, July 10, August 14, and Septem-
ber 11). We meet in various members’ homes, so please
contact Deb Schumacher (email:
[email protected]) to RSVP and learn each
meeting’s location.
This is non-faith based and no experience is necessary. Eve-
ryone is invited! If you are curious and would like to learn
more, please come. Peace and health.

E-mail Basic Etiquette
[1st of three-part series]
1. Make sure your e-mail includes a courteous
greeting and closing. Helps to make your e-mail
not seem demanding or terse.
2. Address your contact with the appropriate level
of formality and make sure you spelled their
name correctly.
3. Spell check – emails with typos are simply not
taken as seriously.
4. Read your email out loud to ensure the tone is
that which you desire. Try to avoid relying on
formatting for emphasis; rather choose the
words that reflect your meaning instead. A few
additions of the words “please” and “thank you”
go a long way!
5. Be sure you are including all relevant details or
information necessary to understand your re-
quest or point of view. Generalities can many
times cause confusion and unnecessary back and
forth.
Clip and keep at your computer.

Physical Fitness
“Mindful Moves” Class Tuesdays – Great Hall
Noon – 1 pm, Cost $2 p/p
Researchers no longer believe that dementia is an inevitable
part of the aging process. The Wellness Community now
knows that just as physical exercise keeps our bones and
muscles strong, exercise for the brain keeps our intellect and
memory sharp.
Mindful Moves class engages you with a combination of
cognitive and physical challenges that are intended to
improve your daily active living skills and brain. Just as the
saying goes – “If you don’t use it – you will lose it!” Have
some fun while we challenge you with your ADL (active
daily living) skills to strengthen your muscles and improve
balance while increasing blood flow to the brain.
The goal of each class is to challenge your cognitive and
physical skills that will lead to discovering “little victories”
that will make your long term daily movement easier.
Engage in the ‘train your brain’ challenges which will
certainly bring on some laughter and fun!.

TAI CHI FOR HEALTH & TAI CHI RULER
Tuesdays, 10 am, Great Hall
Tai Chi for Health (TCH) is an evidence-based program
endorsed by The Arthritis Foundation and recommended by
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for Fall
Prevention. Developed by Dr. Paul Lam, TCH uses gentle Tai
Chi routines that are safe, easy to learn and suitable for every
fitness level. The movements are easy to do and can be done
standing or seated. Qigong (energy cultivation) exercises, tai
chi ruler practice and tai chi forms are especially effective for
those wanting to improve their flexibility, stamina, stability,
mental focus or balance. Emphasizing the fundamental
principles of Tai Chi Ch’uan, your mind quiets, fully absorbed
in the practice. You experience deep relaxation by being fully
present in the moment, leaving you feeling refreshed. "Learn
more about the benefits of Tai Chi by visiting:
TaiChiforHealthInstitute.org or americantaichi.net."
Choose to come for the first half of the class to learn qigong
exercises and tai chi ruler, or stay until 11:30 to learn a Sun

Very easy to learn and everyone can play!
The Courts are always open and the equipment is well

cabinet by the courts. Cue sticks are hanging under the roof
at the end of court #4. Evening play under lights is possible
with a flip of the switch on the pole near the hanging cues.

and all are welcome. Games are casual and fun.
LADY SHARKETTES Mondays, 2-4 pm, RC Billiards Room
We welcome new members to our Monday games.
There are no designated teaching times but we are available
anytime someone needs a little help during class. The room
bulletin board has our schedule posted. Tournaments, if
desired, are scheduled for the last Monday of the month.
The ladies enjoy playing: Royal 51, Golf, Double V Eight
Ball, 3-Ball, 7-Ball, 8-Ball, Pea Pool, and Cut Throat. If you
can teach us a new game, we are always open for something
new. We play as individuals, partners, or round robins
depending on the number of people present. Different
games encourage us to learn and use new skills as well as
stimulate our memory and eye/hand coordination.
BILLIARDS CLUB NEWS
Women’s pocket billiards takes place every Monday from
two to four. If you have never played this game, one of the
members of this group will be glad to provide
instruction.
Pocket billiards is a lot of fun to play. Don’t
hesitate to come and play, even if you haven’t
played for a long time. You won’t regret it.
Billiard Club President, Will Benoit, 459-0307
SENIOR SPORTS ENTHUSIASTS This year's games schedule is posted in the RC. I also have a
few schedules, or call Florida Sports at [866-354-2637].
PLEASE: if you compete in any of the events, in any of the
participating cities, let me know as I would like to put it into
the RH Happenings. Ray Wright, 314-2844
BOCCE CLUB Next Meeting, October 6, 1 pm
Summer Bocce is going on now. We play every
Tuesday morning with the time now 8:00 am. New
and experienced players are all welcome. Someone
is always there to help you learn the game. Don't be shy,
come on down! We draw for teams and play one or two
games according to interest. For those who like Saturday
morning at 8:00 am, we are playing then too.
Open Bocce:
The courts are open to all residents and their guests every day
except when our volunteer maintenance people are there to
groom or improve the courts. Please allow them access to the
courts and come back when they are done. Please remember
to drag/brush the courts whenever you play a game.
Do not leave them in poor condition. DO NOT LOFT THE
BALLS from above the waist as this damages the courts.
Bocce is an easy game to play. Children are welcome as long
as they have supervision.
Rules are on our bulletin board near the tennis courts and
bocce equipment is located in the outdoor cabinet near the
shuffleboard courts.
Information on joining the fall league will be coming next
month. If you have any questions call MaryAnn Hamric
[314-3873].
The next meeting is on October 6, 2016 at 1 pm in the Rec
Center Meeting Room. Dues will be collected and league
schedules will be passed out at that time. MaryAnn Hamric 314-3873 for Joan Terranova, 435-4609

TENNIS CLUB NEWS
Open Tennis
Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday, 8:30 am
It is always sad to say goodbye to our snowbird members and
we wish them a great summer and looking forward to seeing
them in the fall. Our final activity for the season was a Fun
Day competition with prizes going to George Baldwin for
first place and Ed Schmitt in second for the men and Bev
Vasquez in first place and Barbara Zamierowski in second
place for the women. This activity was enjoyed by many of
our active members and if you didn’t participate this year
watch for the dates next season and be sure to sign up. The
tournament was followed up with a pizza party and drinks.
All in all it was a “Fun Day.”
We are back to our regular summer schedule which is 8:00
am for the open tennis. Open tennis is on Tuesday, Thursday
and Saturday and is open to all residents. If you are thinking
of coming back to tennis, this is a great opportunity to ease
your way back into the game especially during the summer
months when the courts are not crowded. Organized events
are the ladies’ doubles on Friday mornings at 8:00 am and the
men’s Tuesday evening doubles. Call Irene Bennett at [323-
6116] if you wish to be included in the ladies’ doubles and
are not on the list and Ed Schmitt at [223-7412] for the
Tuesday evening men’s doubles. The next committee
meeting will be in the Card Room at 10:00 am on September
27 and the next Pot Luck will be September 16 at 6 pm. We
wish you all a pleasant and healthy summer. Call Marge Avery, 323-1724 or Connie Lewis, 365-0682.
BICYCLE CLUB
There will be no Bicycle Club meetings during
the Summer. However, the people that remain
here in the Summer ride every Saturday and all
even-numbered weekdays will start at 8:00 am, from the Great
Hall. Also be sure to check our website at
www.rhbike.webs.com for all of our off-campus rides, which
depart at 8:00 am from the Great Hall.
The wood bridge along Route 455 has been replaced. This
bridge is part of the Lake/Mineola Trail. Also, the
temperatures are climbing so you need to take extra water and
keep hydrated to fully enjoy riding in the next 4 months.
Bicycle Etiquette: You want to enjoy the ride as well as
everyone else using the wonderful trail systems in Florida. So
when you are on the trails and you need to stop, make sure
you and your bicycle are completely off the trail. Only ride
double file when there is light traffic. Signal to others that
you are passing and always pass on the left. Alert other riders
in your party of potential hazards that you may encounter and
take the earbuds out for your own safety. Carry a cell phone
for emergencies.
Always wear your helmet and enjoy the ride!
Mike Kowalski, 315-1162

Women's Summer Softball: There will be women's choose-
up games on Saturday mornings at 8:30 am at Plantation,
for the month of June. For the months of July and August
the field location is to be determined. (Sorry I was not able

May but I just found out about June games at the time for
writing the article.)
