Introduction

TheRoyalReedOrganforNIKontakt5isourflagshipharmoniumlibrary.Theinstrumentsourceisa

400-poundsuctionairharmoniumfromthe1920s.Itwasmadebythepianoandreedorgancompany

Östlind&Almquist(1888-1962),apurveyortotheSwedishroyalcourt.Thisharmoniumfeaturesa

wholerangeofhighqualityvoices,fromthelowend16’Subbasses,allthewayuptothe2’Piccolo.

Thelistofstopsisimpressive,andenablesa

greatvarietyoftimbres.Everystophas

dedicatedcontrolsforon/off,volume,and

finetuning.Thekeyboardisdividedintotwo

areas,withstopstocontrolthevoiceson

eithersideofthesplit.

Ourgoalwastobetruetotheoriginaldesign,

butalsotoextenditsfeaturesinthedigital

realm.Inourversion,youcanpreciselyset

theeffectoftheairpumponthesound,and

shapethetimbreoftheregistersusingyour

modulationwheelandaftertouch.

Thissamplelibraryshipswith40presetsthatvaryincharacterandcomplexity.Whetheryou’reinto

Volume:setsthelevelindecibelsofthereleasesamplesthatsoundwhenanotestopsplaying.

Thisdialhasarangeof-36dBto+6dB.Turnitfullylefttodisablereleasesamples.

Velocity

Sens:setstherelationshipbetweenhowhardyoustrikethekeys(MIDIvelocity)andthevolumeofthesound.

At0%,thevolumeofthesoundisunaffectedbyhowhardyouplay,whichistypicalforanorgan.At100%,thevolumeofthesoundisstronglyaffectedbyhowhardyouplay.

Pump

Thepumpeffectrecreatestheorganmechanismbycombiningmodulationofvolumeandtonewithsynchronisedrecordingsoftheairpumpinaction.

On/Off:enablesordisablesthepumpeffect.

Depth:setstheextenttowhichtheorgansoundismodulatedbythepump.

Rate:setsthespeedofthepump.Fivetempo-syncedspeedsareavailable:bar,half-note,4th,8th,16th.

Volume:setsthelevelindecibelsofthepumpnoise.

Reverb

Piano-Forte

ThePiano-FortecontrolsareuniquetotheRoyalReedOrgan,enablingadjustmentoftheinstrument’stimbreinanatural-soundingway,usingeithertheKontaktinterfaceoryourMIDIcontroller.Piano-Fortesimulateschangestotheairpressurethatpowerstheorgan.

Piano-Forte:setstheinstrumenttimbre.Valuesabove12o’clockincreasethebiteoftheorgan.Valuesbelow12o’clocksoftenitscharacter.

ModulationPianoandModulationForte:setwhetherthecurrentmodulationsourceswilldecreaseorincreasethePiano-Fortevaluefromitscurrentsetting.Thesebuttonsaremutuallyexclusive.Themodulationsourcesaredescribedbelow.
