    2. ADDENDUM

    The following items refer to the attached TEP General Specification SP -TCS-312 Rev. 1.

    The clauses set out below shall modify or replace the existing clauses in the original specification as noted.

    GENERAL COMMENTS The following terms which are used in this General Job Specification are deleted and replaced by :

    TOTAL by: COMPANY Engineering Company by CONTRACTOR: shall mean the party which has entered under a

    Contract Agreement with COMPANY for the design, engineering, procurement and construction of the Onshore Facilities regarding the South Pars Field Development Project, Phase 19.

  • SP - TCS - 312 CYLINDRICAL STORAGE TANKS Page 4 of 15 SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZE TEP/DDP/DPS Date: February 1995 1 SCOPE This Specification covers basic requirements for the design, fabrication, erection, and testing of fusion-welded, cylindrical, atmospheric storage tanks of small and medium size (up to 60 000 m3), fabricated of mild carbon steel having a specified yield strength of 260 N/mm2maximum. Tanks in refrigerated storage services are not included in the scope of the present document.

  • SP - TCS - 312 CYLINDRICAL STORAGE TANKS Page 5 of 15 SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZE TEP/DDP/DPS Date: February 1995 3 GENERAL Tanks shall be furnished in accordance with this Specification and Appendix A and B.Any applicable statutory rules or regulations, such as national codes shall have precedence over less restrictive requirements. Unless otherwise specified, tanks shall be designed, fabricated, inspected, and tested in accordance with API Standard 650, as modified herein. Shop assembled storage tanks shall be designed, fabricated, inspected, and tested in accordance with API Standard 650, Appendix J. Corrosion allowances, if specified, shall be added to shell, bottom, and roof plates and to all exposed surfaces of structural members and other tank internals. VENDOR's proposal shall include a completed data sheet for each tank. When a design for earthquake loading is required, the design criteria of API Standard 650 Appendix E shall apply.

    4 DESIGN 4.1 Bottoms Tank bottoms shall be sloped as required by Project Specifications. 4.2 Shells Shells shall be designed in accordance with API Standard 650 (Basic or Appendix A) requirements. For the API Standard 650, Basic design, VENDOR shall determine and state separately the cost of intermediate wind girders for the specified wind velocity. VENDOR shall state the maximum wind velocity the tank will withstand without the intermediate wind girders. Shell thickness shall be designed for product specific gravity of 1. VENDOR shall determine separately the cost of tank design for the actual product specific gravity. Supplemental welding requirements applicable to shell joints are as follows: a) All horizontal butt joints shall have complete penetration and fusion. b) Square groove butt joints shall be permitted to a maximum plate thickness of 7 mm, except that this may be increased to 9 mm plate thickness if submerged Arc Welding process is used, or if one side of the weld is back gouged to form a groove.

Submittals for approval shall include all necessary information and previous experiences. 4.3 Fixed roofs VENDOR may supply any of the fixed roof configurations listed in API Standard 650, unless otherwise specified. 4.4 Floating roofs Open top tanks Floating roofs shall be of the multiple-compartment type, low-deck pontoon or double-deck as noted, and they shall be provided with the specified type of seals. Pontoon bulkheads shall be completely welded for liquid tightness. Roofs shall be designed to avoid fatigue failure caused by wind effects. Pantograph-type seal shoes shall be electrically bonded to the roof with stainless steel shunts at intervals of 3 m, maximum, on the tank circumference. In tanks to be protected with non conductive internal shell coatings, the roof shall be bonded to the shell by a suspended cable arrangement. If the hanger mechanism is in the vapor space below the seal stainless steel shunts shall be provided between the shoe and roof above the seal area. At least one shunt shall be provided for each hanger. Nonmetallic-type seals shall be equipped with a metallic weather hood unless secondary seals are provided. Seals shall be of the foam-filled type and shall be liquid mounted. For tanks without fixed foam systems on floating roofs over 30.5 m diameter, the top wind girder shall be at least 76 cm wide, located about 1 m below the top of the shell or shell extension and shall have a handrail for the entire circumference. Access shall be provided from the stair to the wind girder. When a secondary seal is not required, provision shall be made for possible future installation of a secondary seal. Roof support legs shall be adjustable to carry the roof in an upper cleaning position with a 2 m minimum clearance and a lower operating position as required for clearance of tank internals. Roof rotation shall be prevented by means of a vertical guide pipe. If specified, this pipe shall be arranged to permit sampling through it.

  • SP - TCS - 312 CYLINDRICAL STORAGE TANKS Page 7 of 15 SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZE TEP/DDP/DPS Date: February 1995 4.5 Floating roofs Covered tanks Covered floating roof tanks shall conform to API Standard 650, Appendix H, with the following supplemental requirements : a) The floating roof design shall be one of the following types: 1- Steel deck, supported above the liquid surface by floats or pontoons. The floats or Pontoons shall have a minimum volume as specified in API Standard 650, Appendix C, Paragraph C.3.4. 2- Aluminum deck, supported above the liquid surface by closed tubular members. The minimum volume of the floats shall be sufficient to keep the roof floating when one- half the floats are punctured. 3- Rigid-molded polyurethane foam interlocking floating deck panels. Each panel shall be self-buoyant and impervious to the product throughout and shall have a density of approximately 350 kg/m3. 4- Aluminum floating deck panels made of an aluminum honeycomb core bonded to aluminum sheets on top and bottom. Each panel shall be self-buoyant and shall have a unit weight of approximately 3.60 kg/m2. b) The floating roof seal shall be a nonmetallic type. Foam-type seals shall be completely encapsulated in a nylon-reinforced polyurethane fabric to reduce the possibility of hydrocarbon vapor or liquid absorption. c) The floating roof support legs shall be adjustable to carry the roof in an upper cleaning position and a lower operating position .

    5 MATERIALS 5.1 General Carbon steel material shall be those listed in API Standard 650 other mild carbon steel may be used, provided it substantially conforms to the chemical and mechanical properties of one of the materials listed in API Standard 650, is of weldable quality, and approved by TOTAL. When impact tests are required, the alternate material must be capable of meeting the impact levels of API Standard 650 table 2.2 at the design metal temperature for both basic and Appendix A construction.

  • SP - TCS - 312 CYLINDRICAL STORAGE TANKS Page 8 of 15 SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZE TEP/DDP/DPS Date: February 1995 5.2 Bolting All bolting for flanged connections shall conform to ASTM A 307, Grade B. Bolts shall consist of regular unfinished machine bolts with one heavy semi finished hex nut. Bolt and nut threads shall conform to ANSI B1.1 coarse thread series, Class 2A and Class 2B, respectively. 5.3 Non metallic seals Nonmetallic seal material shall be satisfactory for use with petroleum products with aromatic content up to 75 % unless otherwise specified. Seal material shall have a flame spread rating of not more than 35 in accordance with ASTM E 162.

    6 INSPECTION AND TESTING 6.1 Radiographic inspection Radiographic inspection of butt joints shall be in accordance with API Standard 650 and the following supplemental requirements : a) Spot radiographs shall show 150 mm minimum weld length. The film for spot radiographs at junctions between vertical and horizontal joints shall be positioned with the greater length on the vertical seam. b) Sectioning methods of inspection shall not be used without TOTAL approval. Automatic welding shall be examined by spot radiography. c) For manually welded joints, radiographic inspection requirements shall apply to each welder. d) For automatically welded joints, one spot radiograph shall be taken in the first 3 m of weld after each setup of the automatic welding machine. e) For automatically welded vertical joints in API Standard 650 (Appendix A) construction, the requirements of API Standard 650 paragraph 6.1.2 shall apply. f) Radiographic results shall be available within 48 hours time after performing the weld to be radiographed.

The metal temperature during hydrostatic testing shall not be less than 10 C for API Standard 650 Appendix A tanks. For API Standard 650 Basic tanks, the metal temperature during test shall not be less than the minimum permissible design metal temperature of Fig. 2.2.

    7 ERECTION, REPAIRS, AND TOLERANCES 7.1 Erection Welding shall conform to the requirements of SP-TCS-611 except as modified by this specification. Over lap bottom plates, 3 plates lap location: lower lap welded joint is welded throughout the length of the joint prior the upper lap being welded. Weld undercuts and excessive weld metal buildup resulting in steep angles at corners of fillet welds are not permitted. Fillet welds shall blend smoothly with the base metal. All weld bevels and weld surfaces shall be free of cracks, excessive porosities, slag inclusions, and other defects indicative of poor workmanship. No holes shall be made in shell plates for erection purposes. 7.2 Repairs No mechanical caulking shall be permitted. 7.3 Tolerances Dimensional tolerances shall be in accordance with API Standard 650 with the following modifications: Tolerance for banding shallbe 9 mm maximum ; tolerance for out-of-

    plumbness of the top of the shell relative to the bottom of the shell shall not exceed 1/200 of the total tank height or 50 mm, whichever is smaller. No single shell course shall be more than 6 mm out of plumb. The roof shall have no depressions in which water can accumulate.

  • SP - TCS - 312 CYLINDRICAL STORAGE TANKS Page 10 of 15 SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZE TEP/DDP/DPS Date: February 1995 8 TANK APPURTENANCES 8.1 General Appurtenances shall be furnished and located as specified in Appendix B and the Project Specifications. 8.2 Connections No screwed connections on the shell larger than 2 inches shall be permitted. Nozzles shall be of the API regular or low style, as specified. When indicated on data sheet floating roof tanks shall be provided with gauging tubes that extend to the top of the stairways platform. 8.3 Venting Vents for fixed roof tanks shall be sized in accordance with API Standard 2000. Flame arresters shall be supplied, if specified. All tank vents including those on covered, floating roof tanks shall be screened. Tank vents shall not be located near stairs or platforms. Fixed roof hot-oil and slop-oil tanks shall have added venting capacity, such as venting-type Roof manways, to reduce the possibility of weak seam rupture due to small pressure surges caused by steam or lighter products entering the tanks. 8.4 Drains for floating roofs Roof drains shall be limited to the following types: a) Pipe with swing joints. b) A flexible steel / elastomer pipe equal to that manufactured by COFLEXIP SA or MESA RUBBER CO nonmetallic material shall be satisfactory for use with petroleum products with aromatic content up to 75 % unless otherwise specified. c) The open "Siphon" type of drain shall be supplied only when specified. A gate valve shall be installed adjacent to the check valve at the roof end of the roof drain piping. A steel gate valve shall be placed on the tank shell at the lower end of the roof drain piping. Unless otherwise specified, emergency drains shall be provided for double deck roofs.

When subsurface foam injection is specified, connections shall be provided in accordance with NFPA No. 11, paragraph .5.2. Covered floating roof tanks with a floating roof design of Type 2, 3, or 4 (see paragraph 4.5 a of this Specification) shall have fixed foam systems in accordance with NFPA No. 11, Paragraph A.3.5.1.3. 8.6 Stairways, ladders, and platforms Open-grating stair treads on stairways and rolling ladders and grating-type floor plates on Platforms and walkways shall be galvanized unless otherwise specified. Galvanizing shall be in accordance with ASTM A 123 for grating and structural parts and with ASTM A 153 for Hardware. Standard railings shall be provided on the open sides of all exposed stairways and stair platforms. A standard railing consists of a top rail, intermediate rail or equivalent protection, and posts. On circular stairs welded to the tank, an intermediate rail is not required if the spacing of the posts does not exceed 225 mm on center. Rolling ladders on open top, floating roof tanks shall have self leveling treads.

    9 CORROSION PROTECTION OF BOTTOM PART 9.1 External protection - Before installation, outside face of bottom plates shall be covered with bitumen paint. Applied dry film thickness of the coating shall be 400 micron minimum. - Plate surface shall be prepared with wire brush for removal of heavy deposits of rust, scale, or foreign matter. A width of 50 mm on each joint is left bare for welding.

Applied dry film in three (3) coats minimum shall be 250 micron minimum thick. Surface to be painted shall be abrasive blast to Sa 2.5 according to SIS 05.59.00. The blasting operation shall be followed by remove of dust and particles by vacuum method. Paint system shall have TOTAL approval. VENDOR shall advise which paint system has been included and shall submit paint MANUFACTURER data and instructions.
