Benefits of Recognition or Prior LearningTRANSCRIPT
Business Administration NQF 4
Your passport to Success
“Untapped potential, given the requisite skills and tools, can realise great value”
Strategy
• To enhance the skills-set of our current staff by conducting a skills audit at NQF 4 and facilitation of subsequent skills programmes linked to the gaps identified per site.
• Utilising “RPL” as the accredited assessment tool to guide
the collection of evidence and summative assessment process to ensure certification at NQF 4.
What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
• RPL is about recognising all the learning that an adult has gained over a period of time. It does not matter how the learning was acquired – short courses, on-the-job learning and hobbies can all be used to demonstrate that learning has taken place.
• The learning must be assessed against either a registered qualification or against registered unit standards. Only a registered Assessor can assess the learning and award credits.
What can RPL be used for
• Access into a formal qualification at a higher level than you would normally have accessed.
• Partial credit for a qualification – which will shorten the time that you need to complete the full qualification.
• Full credit for a formal qualification.
• To identify individual gaps that will be addressed through coaching .
• To identify site gaps that will be addressed through skills programmes.
