Recognition of Prior Learning
Is when recognition is
given
for what you already know prior to starting on a programme or module
We focus on learning
What you have learned previously through activities in the workplace, also hobbies, or community involvement
National Framework of Qualifications
What RPL is Bringing learning gained in life back to academia to be recognised formally now against courses on the national framework
The ability to conduct
In practice this means documenting your learning and presenting what is relevant for assessment.
On assessment your learning is compared with a reference point on the framework.

Learning outcomes are the focus of a prior learning case – you must meet each outcome to be allowed an exemption

• Your prior learning case is assessed by the module lecturer
• Interim result lets you know if it will be allowed
• Result finalised at module exam boards, semester end
