1. INTRODUCTION

A total of 828 humus samples were taken along lines 200

feet apart at intervals of 100 feet on the Little Green Lake

claims. The gold results from these samples will be discussed in

this report.

2. LOCATION AND ACCESS

The property includes all or parts of lots 21 and 22,

concessions II and III Darling Township, Lanark Co. Ontario.

Access can be gained via a short bush road off of

Highway'511 between Perth and Calabogie (Figure 1).

3. PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

The property consists of eight claims totalling 400

acres. The claim numbers and their respective dates of registra

tion are as follows:

4. PHYSIOGRAPHY AND VEGETATION

The property lies on the upthrust side of the

St. Patrick fault scarp which forms the southern boundary of the

north west trending Ottawa-Bonnechere graben. Locally,

topography can be rugged with relief ranging to a maximum of 76m

on the claims.

The western portion of the property is underlain by

a relatively thin sandy-bouldery till. However the portion

occupied by Little Green Lake and the valley trending

northwest-southeast from there is underlain by a thick (up to

30m) succession of glacial fluvial sand and gravel. Ice flow

direction in this area has been southerly (190T).

The area is well wooded with mature stands of hardwood,

mainly sugar maple, beech, oak and birch on the higher well

drained ground and cedar and spruce on the low ground.

5. GEOLOGY

A band of grey dolomite trends northeasterly from the

northwest corner of claim 673501 across the northwest half of

claims 593641. The dolomite is in contact with gabbro to the

north. To the south the dolomite band is bounded by a

Page 6: RPT ON AU IN HUMUS

mylonitized gabbroic rock intruded by leucogranitic dyke-like

masses. The mylonite zone is part of the Robertson Lake Shear

Zone that borders the west edge of the Levant gabbro complex.

The rocks within this structure are highly sheared and altered.

Most of the ferromagnesium minerals have been altered to

chlorite. Also the zone has been carbonated with ferrous

dolomite and in places it is sericitized.

Gold mineralization is known to occur in

quartz-carbonate stringers in the dolomite on claim 593641. The

metallic mineralization consists of disseminated blebs and

streaks of tetrahedrite and rare pyrite, chalcopyrite and gold.

Gold is also associated with two small bodies of pyrite bearing

leucogranite on claims 593639 and 673503. -At the latter site an

auriferous quartz vein containing bismuthnite was found. In the

southwest corner of claim 673502 near massive sulphide (pyrite

and pyrrhotite) bands containing elevated gold and arsenic values

occur in quartz chlorite-sericite schist which in places is

graphitic.

6. GEOCHEMISTRY

6.-l Procedures

Samples of humus were collected at 100 foot intervals

along cut and chained lines spaced 200 feet apart.

C.F. Gleeson A Associates Ltd.

Page 7: RPT ON AU IN HUMUS

5.

The samples were air dried, screened to minus 80 mesh

and analyzed for gold by a fire assay carbon rod atomic

absorption technique. Bondar-Clegg and Company Ltd. claim a

detection limit of Ippb gold with this technique when a 10 gram

sample is used. All but 4 samples contained more than 10 grams

of material.

6.2 Results

A histogram and a cumulative frequence curve have been

plotted in Figures 2 and 3 respectively. Statistically the mean

has been taken as the median value of the normal population. The

standard deviation was calculated from the cumulative frequency

curve by taking the mean difference between the 84th and 16th

percentiles. The median value for gold in humus on this property

is 3.8ppb with a standard deviation of 4.6ppb.

The gold results have been plotted and contoured on the

accompanying 1:2500 scale map.

Gold in humus ranges from l to 1049ppb. The anomalous

zones trend north, northeast and northwest.

The northerly trend prevails in the northwest part of

the property and more or less corresponds to the trend of the

formations in this area. At 10W, 12N a value of 138ppb Au occurs

close to the original Little Green Lake gold occurrence which

consist of quartz-carbonate stringers in dolomite. Southeast of

this zone (L10W,7N and 4N) similar gold anomalies occur which

probably reflect gold mineralization in underlying mylonitized

and altered gabbro. Other north trending anomalies occur in

mafic mylonite and sheared gabbro between 10W and 16W, 7S and

US. Gold has been panned from the till at 10W, 8S, just 100

southeast of the anomaly. Between 8W and 12W a northeast

trending anomaly with values up to 720ppb was prospected and

found to be related to a leucogranite (trondjemite) intrusion

that has been silicified, carbonated and pyritized. The

leucogranite parallels the anomaly and gold mineralization was

found exposed along a scarp face marking the contact between

mafic mylonite and the granite. At the east end of the zone an

auriferous quartz vein was found to contain bismuthinite. Gold

in grab samples from the zone ranged from 42ppb to ^5,000ppb.

Similar mineralization was found associated with the

humus anomaly (10-15ppb) between 8E and IDE, 5S to 6S.

Prospecting farther east (10+90E, 6+20S) turned up a pyritiferous

leucogranite intrusion with gold values ranging from 44 to

2248ppb Au.

In the southwest corner of the property at the

southeast end of L38W two anomalous gold values (15 and 33ppb)

occur over a gold bearing massive sulfide zone in quartz sericite

chlorite schist which was found by drilling a strong IP anomaly.

C.F. Gleeson 4 Associates Ltd.

Page 11: RPT ON AU IN HUMUS

9.

Strong northeast trending gold in humus anomalies

occupy the central southeast sector of the claims between L4E and

28W (14S-18S). The area is underlain by thick glacial fluvial

J sand and gravel. Similar northwest trending Au in humus

anomalies occur over the esker sands and gravels on the north

B side of Little Green Lake. Whether the source of these anomalies

M are rooted in bedrock or whether they are caused by gold in the

glacial fluvial deposits is not known. Drilling will be required

l to evaluate them.

7. SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATIONSl

Geochemical gold analyses on humus samples taken from

l the Little Green Lake property have defined anomalies related to

known gold mineralization. Prospecting some of the anomalies

l also has resulted in the discovery of two new gold occurrences

m associated with leucogranite intrusions. All anomalies warrant

prospecting and where possible backhoe trenching should be done.

l Where overburden is deep (eg over the glacial fluvial deposits)

evaluation will have to be carried out by diamond drilling.
