SUMMARY
Gaudette Township, three-quartt-ra of a mile east of
the Artistan molybdenum property. This property pro
duced molybdenum during World War 11. Recent magneto
meter and geological surveys covered the Dengas pro
perty. No showings or working was located. The
surveys did not suggest further work should be carried
out .
and radiometric surveys for molybdenum and uranium
should be carried out at a cost of 45i,i2UU.

Sault Ste. Marie Mining Division, Ontario
for
adjoining the Artistan Property near Searchmont, Cntario.
Magnetometer and geological surveys were carried out over
the property. Under wartime conditions, UO tons of
molybdenum ore was produced. Uranium was also noted
in the area. Curr-vr.t activity in the area is an attempt
t*, re-evaluate the mining potential of these depouito.
II. PRCl'EICTY. J..CCATICN AND ACCESS
The property consists of six contiguous un-
patcntcd mining claims sit uated In the southeast quarter
of C-audette Township numbered as follows:
SSM 282926 -31 inclusive (six claims) i*Q acres each 2^0 acres
The Whitman Dam Road is an all-weather
gravel road running from Searchmont on the Algoma
Central Railway northeastward across the corner of the
property to Whitman Dam on the Gouiais River. A bush

road forms the east boundary of the property. A
single outcrop area takes the form of a 150 foot hill.
III. GENERAL CF,CI C GY
The area is mapped undlfferentiated granitic
and syenctic rocks. No mineral has been recorded on
this property. A mile east on the property of Artlstan
Mining and Milling a small but impressive molybdenum
occurrance is known.

Within the gneiseee :\ four foot wide quartz
vein, conformable with the flat lying gneiases, occurs
on the Artititan property. The greater part of the
pyrite, chalcopyrite and r:.olybdtiiurn n.ineralization occurs
in the gneissic material between the quartz stringers that
make up the quartz vein. iVolybdt-num showings occur
over a two mile radius from the Artlstan property. The
Lengas property is separated from the Artistan properties
by about throe-quarters of a rr.ilc of overburdened ground.
No mineral occur ranees were located o:, the Cengas pro

meter and geological surveys were carried out over the
property.
Precambrian gneissic area with multiple highs and Iowa.
There are two trends that occur on the property. One
Is north-south across 282925 and -29 and the other runs
northwest from the southeast corner of the property.
No economic conclusions can be drawn from the magnetics.
The geological survey revealed that the
outcrops on the property are restricted to the hill area
centred on claims 292930 and -31. This hill is mainly
hornblende granite gneiss. A diabase dyke was mapped
corresponding to a magnetic anomaly striking northwest
across claim 282930.
of the outcrop area. A small diabase dyke cuts the
northeast fide of the hill. The magnetic survey does
not affect the geologic picture, similar geology would
be expected under the drift covered areas.
It is recommended that no further work be
carried out on the property. If during the coming
year there are encouraging developments on the Artiatan
property to the east, the property could be further
C
for molybdenum and uranium.
A budget for thla work would be*
6 miles of geochemical sample coll ctlng and radiometric surveys ^00.00
Molybdenum soil analysis of above samples 600.00
Total $1,200.00
Respectfully submitted,

fluxgate magnetometer, McPhar M?00. This Inotrument
measures th~ variations on the vertical magnetic field.
The procedure Is to establish a magnetic base
station and assigning an arbitrary value. The field
readings are obtained by looping on the base station over
a period of one hour mcro or less. Then the base value
Is moved on usually two traverse lines along the baseline
and the looping procedure Is repeated on this new sub
base station.
