MADOC GOLD PROJECT
A program of linecutting/ followed by orientation and general geo
chemical sampling was carried out on the optioned gold prospect of
Arbor Resources Limited in Madoc Township.
This work identified a number of areas with anomalous gold values
in soil. A limited amount of backhoe trenching was carried out to test
selected anomalous areas, to assist in identifying potential drill tar
gets.
In addition a geological mapping program was completed over the
cut grid, and a seies of VLF-EM profiles were run over selected areas.
This VLF-EM survey is continuing .

Between August 1st.1985 and January 10th.1986,
a program of linecutting, geological mapping, soil
sampling, rock sampling, overburden stripping and
VLF-EM surveying was carried out on a grid that covers
a number of mineral claims in the eastern part of
Madoc Township in Eastern Ontario. The area
contains several gold occurences that have been
mined in the past. Where possible, the results of
the field work were correlated with data from old
records to provide a better understanding of the
mineral potential.
The program has defined a number of structures
that warrant further investigation by diamond drilling.
-2-
LOCATION and ACCESS
The area is located approximately 1.5 Km
east of the hamlet of Queensborough and 10 Km
northeast of the town of Pladoc. It is on the
west edge of Madoc Tounship. Gravel surfaced
township roads provide access to 1 Km of any
point in the project area. These roads connect
uith hard surfaced highuay #7.
The project covers part or all of the
following mineral claims.

The topography is gently rolling, with
a prominent ridge on the western side in the
area. The surface is marginal farmland (pasture)
and scrub bush. Some areas are quite swampy,
uhile others are exposed bedrock and thin
overburden. The overburden is normally fine
stratified sand. An esker on the east side of
the area strikes 120 0 . Drainage is to the
southeast towards the Black River, which runs
SSE 1-2 Km east of the project.area.
Glacial stria were measured at 185 0 in the
southern part of the grid.
Soil developement is generally only a 10 - 15cm
in the better drained parts. Organic accumulations
of over 2 meters may occur in the swamps.
The claims are held by:
Gordon Sager - Madoc,Ont.
Albert Sager - Ottawa,Ont.
Uill Broun - Trent River,Ont.
They are part of a group of claims under option to
Arbor Resources Ltd. of Vancouver B.C.

HISTORY
Gold uas first discovered in the area
in 1896. Between 1896 and 1941 several companies
put doun three shafts plus numerous test pits and
overburden trenches. Underground uork uas carried
out and small mills were established at No.1 (Mispickel)
Vein and No.2 Vein located in the NEi of Lot 14,
Con.X. The last company to mine the mineral area
uas the Mayborough Milling Co. uho deepened the
shaft on the No.1 Vein to 43m (142'). This vein
has been explored by 295m (972 1 ) of drifts and crosscuts
plus 32m (105 1 ) raises and uinzes. Mayborough
milled 300t of ore from the No.1 Vein.
Since 1942, exploration has consisted of
prospecting, a feu diamond drill holes and an
E.M./Mag. survey in 1973 by Freeport Canadian
Exploration. There does not appear to have been
any attempt to define a mineable reserve tonnage
or to relate the gold mineralization to the geology
of the area.
-6-
FIELD UDRK
Line Cutting
A baseline 2000m (6562*) long was cut at an
azimuth of 313 0 . Crosslines were cut at 100m (328 1 )
intervals perpendicular to the baseline. In some
areas, cross lines uere put in at 25m (82') and
50m (164') intervals. A total of 20,100m (65,945')
of picket lines uere cut and chained during the
program. The picket lines are marked uith flagging
tape every 30m (98').
Soil Sampling
An orientation survey of 293 soil samples
uas carried in August 1985. The samples uere
taken from the B soil horizon at 5m (16') intervals
on the picket lines. They uere analysed geochemically
for Au, Ag, Zn and As.
The analysis of the samples shoued that some
of the soils contain' anomalous gold values. The Ag
and As analysis did not show encouraging results and
uere not analysed in later samples. Anomalous
Zn occurs in the parts of the grid underlain by
carbonate sediments.
-7-
During September and October 1985,
929 samples uere taken at 1 \ ( 25') and 15m (49')
intervals along the grid lines. These samples
uere all analysed for Au. Seventy-two of the
samples uere also analysed for Cu and Zn.
All analyses uere carried out on the
-80 mesh fraction of the soils. Sample preparation
and analyses uas done by Assayers (Ontario) Ltd.,
33 Chauncey Ave., TORONTO, Ont.
Results are reported in parts per billion
for gold uith a detection limit of 5 p.p.b.
Base metals are reported in parts per million.
The analyses are presented on the attached
geochemical maps. The analyses sheets from the
laboratory are in APPENDIX 1.
Geology Napping
The geology of the grid uas mapped at a
scale of 1 : 2,500 by R. McNeil during August and
September 1985. This uork uas supplemented by
detailed (1 : 1,000) mapping by A.T.Avison in tuo
areas that appear to have greater economic potential,
Rock outcrops, old trenches, shafts and drill hole
casings uere tied into the grid lines. This data is
shoun on the attached geology maps.
-8-
Overburden Stripping
A small backhoe uas used during December
1985 to trench areas where soils are anomalous
in gold. A total of 570m (1870 1 ) of trench
uere excavated. The trenches range from
0.3m (1') to 3m (10') in depth.
VLF - En Survey
A VLF Survey uas carried out over the
grid during the first ueek in January. The
results of this survey are described in a
separate report.
-9-
GEOLOGY
The project area is located on the eastern
limb of the Madoc syncline. The grid is underlain
by metabasalts on the east side and shaley dolomitic
marble on the west. The contact between the two
rock types is not exposed within the grid. It is
interpreted as a fault contact by Heuitt in G.R.73.
Regional mapping shows the dolomite to be younger
than the volcanics, which are classified as
belonging to the Tudor Formation of the Hermon Group.
The dolomites are part of the Mayo Group of
sediments that overlies the predominately volcanic
Hermon Group throughout the region. The Tudor
Formation is host to most of the significant gold
deposits of the area.
The basalt is a medium grained, dark grey-green
rock. In the grid area it is massive but to the
southeast near the Blakely Mine, distorted pillous
have been mapped. It has been metamorphosed by a
regional deformation that produced a foliation
which strikes 140 0 to 160" and dips steeply to
the southwest. The basalts are strongly to
weakly chloritized. The greatest chloritization is
-10-
in the most foliated rocks. The intensely
foliated basalts are poorly exposed because they
are the least erosion resistant rocks in the area.
They occur under the drainage in the eastern part
of the grid and contain the E.M. conductor found
by geophysics. Uaste rock dumps at the No.1
shaft contains uell banded foliated and silicious
material that may be either sheared basalt or
tuffaceous volcanics. This material contains up
to 1056 pyrite as fine grained layers.
In places the basalt contains coarse
hornblende crystals up to 3 cm. long. The field
term "chicken scratch" texture'uas used for this
feature. The coarse hornblende may comprise up
to 4056 of the basalt. Outcrops that contain over
2056 coarse hornblende uere mapped as amphibolite.
This rock type is commonest in the western part of
the basalt area. It may be the result of the
deformation that produced the foliation and
interpreted fault contact between the basalt and
the dolomitic sediments.
The sediments are massive to uell banded
pink, grey or uhite dolomitic marble and shaley
limestone. They strike SE - NU and dip - southwest
at 10 0 - 50 0 . The steep dipping 140 0 - 160 0
foliation seen in the basalts is not apparent in
the sediments, possibly because of later recrystallization
-11-
MINERALIZATION
Pyrite is a common minor ^0.5?0 constituent
of all the rocks in the area. It ranges up to
'\QK i n places uhere the basalt has been strongly
sheared. Lenticular quartz veins occur in the
sheared basalt as well as in the sediments.
Some of the quartz veins contain pyrite and
arsenopyrite. These sulphide bearing veins are
gold bearing in places, although there is not a
direct correlation betueen the quantity of sulphide
and the gold content of the veins. These auriferous
quartz veins occur preferentially in uell sheared
basalt but they crosscut the regional foliation.
The veins range up to 2m (7 1 ) in width and
have been traced by trenching for 50m (I64').or more.
Silicification of the sheared basalt and the
introduction of ankerite occurs in places and
may be favorable indication of gold mineralization.
No visable gold uas seen during the exploration
program but several soil samples containing over
500 p.p.b. uere obtained. Grab samples of
mineralized quartz vein material assayed over
0.5 oz./t. in several instances.
The sediments are cut by numerous veinlettes
uhich may be up to 25cm (10") wide in places.
-12-
Soils over the sediments are anomalous in zinc
and sometimes in gold. The sediments contain
up to 0.556 disseminated pyrite. No sphalerite
uas positively identified in hand specimens.
GEOCHEMISTRY
The Au analysis of the soil samples are
shown on the accompanying maps (Fig.7+8). The
assay sheets from the laboratory are attached as
Appendix 1 to this report.
The Au values range from less than 5 p.p.b.
to 8265 p.p.b. 54.2X of the Au values are belou
the detection limit of Sp.p.b. uhich makes a
mathematical study of the results questionable.
The mathematical mean if all samples are included
is 19.02 p.p.b. (assigning a value of 2.5 p.p.b.
to samples reported as ^p.p.b.).
If samples above 200 p.p.b. are excluded
the average is 7.50 p.p.b.
If only samples u/ith values between 5 and
200 p.p.b. are included the average is 13.52 p.p.b
Tuo samples with analysis of 8265 and
2170 p.p.b. contain 459S of the gold in all the
-13-
samples together. When these two are removed
from the group the average value is reduced to
10.44 p.p.b. from 19.02 p.p.b.
A graphical study of the analytical
results was done to give a clearer understanding
of the distribution of values. Fig. 2+3 and Table 2
show the results of the study. It is clear that
there are tuo different populations in the sample
set.
The larger population comprises about 9656
of the sample values. It has a mean value of
4.4 p.p.b. and an anomalous value Cx + 2s) of
35 p.p.b.
The smaller population group includes the
high value samples. Where the sample value of the
tuo groups overlap, they cannot be separated on
the graphical plot.
The small group of high value samples may
be those samples that contain physical gold as
uell as gold that has been transported from its
bedrock source by geochemical processes. Physical
gold could have been introduced into the soil by
glaciation or by earlier mining activity. The
location of the high values are related to human
action.
-14-
It is felt that any soil samples that analysed
25 p.p.b. or higher uarrants further investigation
by additional sampling and/or by trenching.

Some of the samples uera analysed for Zn,
Cu, As and Ag. A statistical study of these
analysis is presented in TABLE 3. The Ag results
were not evaluated statistically because only
55 of 293 samples analysed contained detectable
ammounts, i.e. more than. 0.1 p.p.m. Tuo of the samples
analysed 1.0 and 1.1 p.p.m. Ag and are obviously
anomalous.
All of the anomalous Zn analysis are in
the part of the grid underlain by carbonate
sediments. Uhen only the samples from the carbonate
areas are considered, the anomalous value (x*2s)
is 318 p.p.m. compared uith 196 p.p.m. for all the
samples.
The anomalous values for these elements are
shoun on the geochemical maps - Fig. 7 and 8.

CONCLUSIONS
Anomalous concentrations of gold occur within
the grid area both in the soil and in bedrock.
Soil sampling of the 8-horizon is an effective
method for locating areas of anomalous gold.
Further detailed work is warranted in areas
where the soils contain greater than 25 p.p.b. gold
VLF - En has defined a conductor which may*
relate to the gold mineralization.
The gold mineralization is in quartz veins or j
silicious zones in volcanics.
There appears to be a spatial relation between
the known gold bearing zones and the contact
between the volcanics and the overlying
sediments.
Results to date indicate that there is a reasonable
potential for economically minable deposits
within the grid area.
-19-
RECOnPlENDATIONS
1 - Carry out detailed soil sampling or ov/erburden
trenching and bedrock sampling where anomalous
soil samples have been found.
2 - Drill the six zones that have been outlined by
uork to date. Drill holes should be spaced at
intervals of no more than 25 meters and should
be located to intersect the zones at a depth
of 20 and 40 meters beloy the surface.

Attention; Mr Serge Cossais
Dear Mr. Cossais:
March 17, 1986
MINISTRY CF NORTH5RN DEVELOPMENT AND MINES
i
The Director t Mine Assessor Mining Taxation l OMEP Office
I have reviewed the enclosed grant application submitted by Arbor Resources. As an addendum to this application, I enclose:
1. A brief review of the work completed
2. A revised list of the "Supplementary Information" page showing the distribution of expenditures for wages, goods, and services.
With reference to assay expenditures, I have listed them as "local" expense. The assay office is in Toronto, the same Mining Division as the project.
Two copies of the work report have already been submitted to the Mining Lands Section in satisfaction of assessment work requirements. I have ordered an additional copy for your files.
Please contact Mr. Sinclair or myself for any further information you may require.
Cordially yours,
Fenton Scott
