It is our mission to renew the romance that once was and to inspire elegance, pride, and patriotism into the hearts of many. A notion much like that exemplified by Rosie the Riveter, the cultural icon for which the company was named.

about us. The entire foundation of R. Riveter is the idea of giving back to military spouses. We are a fairly small and widespread community but we are a unique one just the same. Our mission is to be able to provide a sense of security and self reliance to other military spouses.

Old military materials like duffle bags, wool blankets, and shelter

halves are up-cycled with a modern aesthetic producing a kind

of character that is totally unique and full of history. All bags are

hand dyed and handmade in our shop, in Dahlonega, Georgia.

On top of the one - of - a - kind look that stems from the nature

of recycled materials, all of our bags are named after famous military spouses. This allows for R. Riveter’s inspiration to come full circle and bring the spirit of Rosie to the forefront of our

products.

A little about Mrs. Grant - Julia Boggs Dent was not only a famous military wife, but was first lady of the United States from 1869 to 1877. She met Ulysses S. Grant through her brother, a west point class mate of his, at their family home. Grant proposed many times be-fore Julia finally accepted. Their engagement was delayed due to the Mexican-American War, resulting in an unexpected four year engage-ment during which they saw each other only once.

why r. riveter?

the decision

The transient nature of the lifestyle. Putting down roots proves difficult, and therefore affects your career as a spouse, if you get the chance to have one at all. Spouses are expected to be mobile and must quickly adapt to a fast pace change.

With all challenges come rewards. The people you meet along the way make it worthwhile, and you become a stronger person than you thought possible.

to start r.riveter came in the last months of 2011. As two military spouses who had recently relocated to Camp Merrill, just outside of Dahlonega, Georgia, finding a job in our “fields” was proving difficult. After much discussion of part time jobs, and trepidation over careers and subsequent futures, we decided it was time to take matters into our own hands. Knowing that thousands of capable, inspiring spouses were in our shoes, we could somehow provide the security and self reliance of a full time job - that would be as mobile and as flexible as the military lifestyle demands we be.

“We were stuck between a rock and a hard place. Neither

one of us could seem to find

a “career” job locally. We

seemingly had a choice between

a traffic heavy commute or what

felt like futureless part time

jobs just to get by. Knowing

how many other spouses were

in the same position (as most

posts and bases are located

a ways from quality jobs), we

found a collective need.

R. Riveter allowed us not only to employ

ourselves, but hope-fully provide a similar

opportunity for many military spouses.”

Rosie was, and still is, a symbol for stepping up, going against the norm and coming together to get a job done. Everyone should get the chance to be a Rosie, and R. Riveter is offering the perfect opportunity. We understand the peripatetic lifestyle of the military spouse and offer an answer to at least one aspect, occupation. You can work with a worthy cause while making supplemental income. Being a Rosie allows you to work from home, wherever your family may move . We also provide flexibility because we know every day you are doing a “double shift” keeping up with two jobs, military spouse and Rosie. As a Rosie you will be part of a new community, a company with a cause that offers direct selling through at home parties. Your part will be to plan and coordinate trunk shows. Hosts will invite their friends and family over for the opportunity to design and custom order their own purse. Your business will grow by guests wanting to throw their own trunk shows for free and discounted R. Riveter products. There are many other ways to increase income, such as online sales, catalog trunk shows and getting other Rosie’s involved.
