SIGNIFICANT INCIDENTS

Fuel Tank Discharge: Checto River, OR 09 November – Gold Beach Lumber Diesel Tank Vandalism 150-200 Gallons of diesel fuel leaked from a storage tank and entered a storm

drain which lead to the Chetco River in Oregon Rapid response by USCG Station Chetco River deploying 150’ of boom and

sorbents prevented further spread of oil Case was ruled to be an act of vandalism by the Oregon State Police

SIGNIFICANT INCIDENTS F/V Harmony Bilge Discharge, Winchester Bay, OR.

01 August – STA Umpqua reported F/V Harmony pumped approx. 10 gallons oily bilge water into Winchester Bay near STA Umpqua Discharge was caused by operator error during fuel transfer

SIGNIFICANT INCIDENTS M/V Dove, Willamette River, OR.

29 July – Failure in Z-drive (port propeller shaft) discharging approximately 75 gallons (700 gallons potential) gear oil into the Willamette River Contractors were on-scene to conduct clean up, the vessel was dry docked for repairs, and discharge was secured.

SIGNIFICANT INCIDENTSF/V Double Eagle: 03

October – F/V capsized discharging approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel

into Tillamook Bay.

Due to location and wx conditions cleanup was not

feasible. Fuel allowed to dissipate with wind and

wave action.

SIGNIFICANT INCIDENTS

P/C Transition: 28 September - M/V transition ran aground at river mile 23 near Cedar Oaks marina in West Linn Oregon. Owner directed to remove fuel to prevent threat of 100 gal diesel discharge during salvage operations.

• COTP provided EPA with Pollution Removal Funding Authorization providing reimbursement to conduct disposal alternatives assessment and generate Engineering Evaluation/Coast Analysis report on for the LST

• EPA plans to have EECA complete by end of April
