As per the official fig- ures, 30213 students out of 31964 appeared in the exams while 1749 remained absent. The figures reveal that south Kashmir’s Anantnag (Islamabad) district witnessed highest percentage of students who appeared in exams. The authorities had imposed section-144 in and around examination cen- ters. Police and paramili- tary forces were seen guard- ing all the centers. Reports said that in the afternoon some youth pelted stones on an examination centre in Government Higher Secondary School in Tahab. “Police and paramilitary forces, however, chased the stone-pelting youth,” reports said. They said soon addi- tional deployment of police and CRPF was put in place. “Even army was called in,” reports added. Minor stone pelting inci- dents on examination cen- ters were also reported in Shopian district. “Some youth pelted stones on examination cen- ters set up in Government High School in Bartipora- Kellar and Government High School Pahnoo,” reports said.
