In the early morning of April 30, 1997, God called his hard fighting soldier to rest in peace to that beautiful Garden in Heaven.
gT* was bom July 6, 1908 in Edgefield County,South Carolina to the late Elijah and Alice Harris.
At an early age, she was converted and baptized at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, North Augusta, South Carolina where she served faithfully for over seventy years. She was president of the Senior Choir for many years and was a great lead singer. She served as Mother of the Church and was a member of Union Brotherly Love and Zion Sons & Daughters Societies.
She was married to the late Abron Elam, Sr. for over fifty years. To this union seven children were bom, four have preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory: two daughters, Rev. Alice E. Dunn of Evans, GA; and Ret. Capt. Hattie R. Elam of Martinez, GA; one son, Willard C. Elam of Augusta, GA; one son-in-law, Dea. Perry Dunn, Sr.; one daughter-in-law, Jean Elam Quiller; a devoted sister-in-law and best friend, Rosie Williams of North Augusta, SC; a devoted goddaughter, Kathryn Smith, godson, George T. McCord, twenty three grandchildren, forty three great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
