Goal: Make meaningful financial data easily accessible to Principal Investigators, Department & Project managers, and administrators.
Implemented system-generated estimates for salary, benefits, and financial aid
Enabled Unit Defined Commitments (departments may record planned or potential financial encumbrances in the central system)
Streamlined journal processing and initiated daily posting of procurement transactions to the General Ledger
Established an all-Funds Budget-to-Actuals Variance Reporting process (formally available only for sponsored Funds)
Implemented eReconciliation (online Statement of Activity reconciliation with richer transaction reference information)

Deans, directors, department chairs, and their financial certifiers easily obtain the data required for U-M’s annual financial certification process

Ensure PI & SAPOC information is correct Automatic access to M-Reports Sponsored Research determined
using the PI and SAPOC designated in M-Pathways
Update projects as needed where faculty member is listed as both the PI and SAPOC If left unchanged, faculty PI will have access to view all projects in
M-Reports and functioning SAPOC will have none For Stage 1 rollout, FinULs work with their Research ULs to review
provided list of impacted projects• No change needed if faculty is performing the SAPOC role• Otherwise, send SAPOC changes to Mary Byrkit• Financial Operations Sponsored Programs will expedite SAPOC
changes in M-Pathways• SAPOC changes will impact who receives Financial monthend reports
