Characters- There are no characters in this CD advert. There are only people that are painted on the wall. The characters that are graffiti on the wall are all images of people dressed up in costumes such as a skeleton face. Among these people dressed as skeletons there are normal people playing instrument’s around them. This image looks as though they are some sort of street party or carnival. The skeleton faces could be used to show the sadness of the people who are no playing instruments and who are not enjoying the music. This could give connotations that if you do not listen to Rudimental’s music you will not be happy yourself. This could be seen as a reason as to why people want to buy their music.

Narrative events- The narrative events of this advert is that the wall has been gratified on. This is a form of anti social behaviour but it may be seen as a good thing. This is due to it standing out in a boring street and looking interesting and makes the mise en scene look a lot better. In the graffiti it looks as though it is some sort of street party/ carnival. You can see lots of people with instruments such as trumpets. This could have relations to Rudimental’s music, or it could just be used to show how music in general can make something boring turn into something interesting and fun. The street can be recognised by most people living in the UK, and as it is relatable they may also consider Rudimental’s music to be relatable too, and this could be used to sell more CD’s. As well as this within the image there are skeleton faces, within the group of people. These skeletons could be used to show how people are when they are not playing the music. This can also be used to sell more albums.

Technical/ audio codes- The text used is all white and a bold font. This is so that it stands out against a color background. The use of the color white looks good as well due to a lot of color being used on the wall and therefore, not taking the attention away from that but still standing out due to the bold font. As well as this white stars are also used to show the rating of the album from different magazines.

Iconography- One thing that is iconic of this CD advert is the image used on the front of it. Due to all the colours used it makes it look fun and exciting. This is what the genre of pop music wants to portray and through this image it makes Rudimentals music appealing to customers. As well as this another thing that is iconic is the road that the image is set on. The road is relatable to most people living in the UK, and this could be seen as a recognizable figure to the audience. This could be used to sell more albums as people can see that the wall on the street livens up a boring/ normal everyday street, which might make them think if they buy the album it will do the same for them.

Mise en scene- In the mise en scene there is one wall on the street that stands out from the rest of the street. The setting is on a normal street in the UK where you can see a corner shop, bus stop and big flat blocks in the background. The wall on the street is covered with graffiti, such as writing and images. All the colours used throughout are bold and bright. The images look like some sort of festival, brigade. You can see a lot of people playing instruments such as trumpets. The wall contrast with the rest of the street. The street looks dull and normal where the wall is bright colourful and stands out really well. It could be to show what rudimental’s music can do. For example brighten up a dull street because of the music they play. At the top of the advert there are ratings from different magazines rating the new album. The ratings are from 4-7 showing that the album has been successful. Underneath the image there is a quote saying “The number 1 album out now” “The soundtrack to the summer” this also shows that the album has been successful and it is worth people purchasing the CD. This is a good promotional feature.
