②Reduce 50% by FY20501,384,000 t of CO2→692,000 t of CO2

① Living/Greenery/Town Development

● Nurture and utilize Obihiro’s Forest, a symbol for residents・Develop the forest by planting/nurturing trees and through volunteer activities

for residents. Manage tree density through thinning.・Build/operate the Obihiro Forest Community Support Center

(provisional name; environmental education, etc.).・Promote use of wood biomass.

Develop the Forest through Resident Participation

② Farming/Food from Obihiro

● Popularize and encourage no-tilling farming・Reduce tilling (turning soil) to reduce farming equipment fuel consumption

and encourage storing carbon in the soil.

●Encourage appropriate field management・Providing quality compost and cut down on chemical fertilizer from

crop/livestock integration. Manage fields through precision farming byutilizing soil analysis, etc.

Promote Low-carbon Agriculture and Livestock Farming

③ Create Resources/Energy

Utilize Biomass Resources, etc.●Use rich biomass resources・Produce pellets from bean waste, cow manure and compost/wood, and

substitute for kerosene.・Use food processing waste, fruit

sorter waste, etc. in animal feed.・Refine used cooking oil for

biodiesel fuel (BDF).

●Adopt clean energy ・Run cars and buses on bioethanol, biodiesel fuel (BDF), and compressed

natural gas (CNG).・Switch from kerosene to natural gas and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) for

heating fuel.・Expand adoption of solar energy systems and actively adopt in public facilities.

④ Pleasant/Energetic City

Rejuvenate Downtown
