RUSHCLIFFE SCHOOL (NOTTINGHAM FOOTBALL CENTRE)
The Project
Nottingham Football Centre originates from an exciting
joint venture between Rushcliffe School & Field Sports
Management.
As part of extensive improvement works at the school,
Thornton Sports were asked to resurface their full-size pitch
and 5-a-side area with a unique high performance surface.
The sports pitches, which had previously been out of use, are
now fully operational and they are used both during school
hours and hired out during the evenings/weekends.
The Product
Refurbishment of the school’s football pitches included repairs
to the existing shock pad on the full size pitch. We were asked
to produce two synthetic grass facilities with a stripy effect,
creating the look of natural grass pitches that had been cut in
opposing directions. Following this Thornton Sports
produced two new products using alternative yarns, creating a
subtle contrast between rolls of synthetic grass. The outcome
was exactly what the client was looking for.
A 40mm pile height product was used for the full size pitch and
a 60mm product for the 5-a-side area. These modified products
were based on our SoccerTurf 40M and SoccerTurf 60M
surfaces, which are IATS certified for football use and
manufactured in-house within the UK.
New pitch dividers were also installed to enable the full-size
pitch and 5-a-side area to be divided into 4 areas and 2 areas
retrospectively.
