FibaRoll is an advanced form of Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP). It is widely used as structural and lining material as it does not corrode.

There are two main elements to the FRP material, namely the resin and the reinforcement.

The resin is a molecule which when cured by UV or sunlight, forms a complex cross-linked three-dimensional structure with very good structural strength. The reinforcement within the composite is usually glass fiber.

The glass does

not react

and is specially coated to give good adhesion to the resin. The reinforcement basically adds structural support to hardened resins thus increasing the structural

strength of the Fibaroll composite.

Fibaroll cures pipes, pipe supports, tank walls and other areas that have severe pitting and need rebuilding or are in danger of developing leaks. It possesses a wide range of chemical resistance and can withstand high temperatures.

FibaRoll is technically andvance composite, manufactured with glass fiber and reinforced with plastic laminates. It is produced in rolls, as a tacky solid, which is easily cut and moulded to fit any shape. It can be cured by UV light. FibaRoll has an excellent adhesion in excess of 7

N/sq.mm. it forms seamless waterproof lining for insulation on piping. FibaRoll can withstand foot traffic and will not dent or damage.

The Strength, integrity and longevity of the system depends upon carefully designed construction. Prior to application Fibaroll is tacky and mouldedable. The preferred resin system for insulation protection, it delivers good UV and weathering performance. The ‘c” glass veil gives to the FibaRoll laminate exceptional long term weathering performance and added chemical resistance. The glass mat provides flexural strength and toughness. FibaRoll has a protective Nylon film with colored UV blocker which provide a clean handling. It can be removed after application.

Complete Water Tight Sealed System

Corrosion under insulation (CUI) causes a high proportion of unexpected shutdowns and catastrophic damage often accounting for over 10% of the total operating costs in a 25

year plant. CUI is caused by water entering the insulation as a result of inadequate cladding systems.

The traditional metallic cladding systems let water enter between the seams and at terminations is rarely watertight because the sealants used do not last and are easily damaged when construction and plant personnel walk on the cladding.

FibaShiled is a glass fiber reinforced plastic applied to a thickness of 2mm over insulation on 12 mm pipe sections. The machinery to apply it is transportable anywhere in the by 40 ft

container. The FibaShield range also includes coatings and reinforced coatings.

The system is compatible with most commonly used insulation materials and

PUF/PIF systems applied in liquid form directly to the pipe. All operating temperatures can be accommodated.

The system can also be designed to accommodate single or multiple vapor barriers, trace heating and temperature monitoring by fiber optics to provide and early warning system to prevent corrosion under insulation (CUI) and leak

RUST FIBERWRAPP offers a comprehensive range of innovative woven/non-wovensolutions for the Composites (Fiber Reinforced Plastics) Technology applied for industry.

RUST FIBERWRAPP hand lay-up applies is constructed with polyester or vinyl ester resin and reinforced layer that composed of chopped strand mat for the top corrosion layer resistant.

In the laminate process can be cured with catalyst and promoter system. RUST FIBERWRAPP lining provides well protection against leak caused by corrosion & abrasive.

There can many molding methods to produce corrosion resistant FRP’s and in general, following laminate composition is recommended:

Unfilled resin is normally used for the typical laminate composition. For the top corrosion resistant layer, a glass surface mat is used to form t thickness of 0.25 to 0.5 mm. The intermediate corrosion resistant layer is composed of 2 plies of E glass chopped strand mat (450g/m2) to form a thickness of 2.5 mm or more.

The reinforced layer is composed of roving cloths and chopped strand mats which are alternatively laminated to obtain a specified thickness. The outer layer is to obtain a good appearance and to protect from external corrosion, which is composed of 1 ply of C glass

and nuts installed in offshore oil and gas structure and in petrochemical plants is inevitable. The corrosion will ultimately lead to fastener gasket sealing failure. When this occurs, leakage of hydrocarbon fluids and/or gases which the pipe structure delivers occurs. In severe cases, this results in major disaster as the hydrocarbon fluids and/or gases are flammable and

therefore could cause explosion. Furthermore, hydrocarbon gases may contain toxic which results in loss of human life or injury when inhaled by personnel working in the platform. Therefore, it is essential that corroded bolts and nuts be changed during maintenance schedule to avoid leakage or damage

to equipment.

Although the life of these nuts and bolts can be extended by

protective coatings and paints, this is a difficult task due to the odd shapes of the nuts and bolts and their inaccessibility to inspection and service.

corrosive paints and red lead primers are environmentally harmful and thus, the removal and disposal of these products is a complex and expensive part of any maintenance project and requires specialist advice, equipment and procedures resulting in high costs. For health, environmental and safety reasons, the use of these products are being reduced gradually.

Another existing solution is the use of bolts and nuts with fluorocarbon coating. However, fluorocarbon coating is vulnerable to mechanical damage or rough handling which is difficult to avoid during the installation of thebolts and nuts which ultimately results in failure of the protective coating.

A total solution for rehabilitation of severely corroded risers and pipes

To rehabilitate severely corroded risers and pipes, RUSTSHIELD have developed a composite leak pipe repair sleeve technique that incorporates the innovative combination of advanced composite material with high performance epoxy resin together with oversized steel sleeves and specially designed customized end seals, as a total solution for rehabilitation of severely corroded risers and pipes.

The epoxy essentially consists of a load bearing epoxy resin filler mixed with load bearing polyamines. The physical properties allow its use in applications requiring high load bearing strength and excellentadhesion under adverse application conditions.

The product has a long working life and a low exothermic reaction (i.e. minimal heat generation during cure) that make it suitable for applications where a relatively large mass of adhesive is employed.

The benefit of this system, known as Composite Sleeve Repair Technology, is as follows:

The repair/rehabilitation is performed without suspending the riser’s/pipe’s operations, thus resulting in no production loss time due to the repair/rehabilitation work.

The system is fire resistant, versatile, and durableand has very good structural strength; bonded together with the riser/pipe, the integrated structure has structural strength exceeding that of the original riser/pipe due to structural reinforcement by the system.

Due to the use of advanced composite materials, the rehabilitated section of the riser/pipe is corrosion resistant and has an expected life expectancy exceeding that of the original pipe. Thus future repair cost is minimized in the long term.

Overall cost effective compared to other atmospheric corrosion control products

The Composite Pipe Leak Sleeve Repair system will result in lower total ownership cost for the operator in the long term due to less frequent inspection and lower maintenance and repair costs and the ability to avoid shutdown compared to other systems.

Pipeline protection starts with pipeline design, and continues through material selection, planning, construction, maintenance, and operations Corrosion protection includes coatings and cathodic protection. RUSTOSI-PS can be applied to the pipe support for improving the protection.

Application

Modern coatings rarely fail except where mechanical damage has occurred. Pipe support areas are the most common to exhibit early coating failure. Any inspection of an established plant or pipeline will show corrosion in the pipe support areas.

The coating is damaged by abrasion between the pipe and its support caused by movement of the pipe during operation. Rainwater readily collects in this area to act as the electrolyte.

Failure to effectively isolate the pipe from its support, with a material with strength and toughness, will lead to corrosion and compromise the whole coating system.

is a two-component epoxy matrix material for bonding applications. It is a high elongation material which gives optimum properties as a matrix for the Rust Fiberwrapp to provide a wet-lay-up composite system for strengthening structural members
