Student and Faculty Engagements during the lockdown period (15 March 2020 to 15 May 2020)
1. March 15 2020 – Classes suspended for students in the wake of the
Corona outbreak. Student made aware of the seriousness of the issue,
Campus engineer made the nodal officer for any communication with
regard to the Covid-19.
2. March 23, 2020 – Faculty Members instructed to stay at home and
to have all the resources necessary ( internet, books etc) to get
equipped to engage students through online classes.
3. March 26, 2020 – First Video Lecture uploaded to SSMRV Youtube
channel - https://bit.ly/34XzZZk. 230 video lectures have been
updated till date. The same was appreciated by Prof Japhet, VC,
Bengaluru Central University and these video links have been
uploaded in the website of Bengaluru Central University as well.

4. March 27,2020 – First Student Engagement through zoom classes,
A number of zoom classes on various subjects were held.
5. March 28 2020 onwards – Notes, Assignments and previous
question papers sent to students through whatsapp. Timelines given
to students to complete the assignments and mail it back to the
respective faculty members. The same would be considered for
internal assessments.
6. 6th April,2020 – First Staff Council meeting held to discuss the
future course of action
7. 7th April 2020 – Student council meeting with Principal to discuss
the role of student council and student engagement
8. 9th April 2020 – VC, Bengaluru Central University had a Virtual
online meeting with all Principals of Colleges affiliated to BCU to
streamline the online education programme. Dr S Anil Kumar,
Principal, SSMRV College was appointed as one of the steering
committee members to formulate online programmes for BCU.

9. 10th April 2020 onwards – Students engaged in various community
services through Youth Red Cross, Civil Defence, Health Club and
other activity centres. The have associated with Indian Red Cross
Society and Dept of Information and Public Health, Govt of
Karnataka to distribute free rations to the needy. They were also
felicitated by the Police and the Hospital authorities for their great
work.
10. 11th April 2020 – There was a discussion with NIMHANS well being
centre and Christ University and a videos regarding distressing and
mental well being of students were uploaded in the College website.
Google forms were circulated to the students through class teachers
for any personal counseling required (telephonic). A follow up
webinar was held on 30th April 2020 from 11.30 am to 1.45 pm.
There were 2 sessions with 41 participants from our
College. Students got an opportunity to voice out their concerns
about mental health, stress and panic. We concluded with Question
& Answer session and the counselor from NIMHANS well being
centre shared few authentic websites, reading materials, meditation
video links and NIMHANS helpline number to contact if needed.
11. 21st April 2020 – Meeting on Guided internship in association with
Bengaluru Central University. Around 70 students of Final years
have expressed their interest to be part of this project. Dr S Anil
Kumar, Principal,SSMRV College has been appointed a core team
member for guided internship at the University level.

12. 25th April 2020 – A webinar on Ion Digital Classroom was organized
by TCS and our Faculty members attended the same.

13. During this quarantine an 8 day online fellowship program was
organised by Rotaract district 3190 in which one of our student
namely Vignesh.R of Bcom 2nd year was selected as star rotractor.
during this fellowship program many competitions were conducted
online such as painting,cooking,singing,dancing etc.
14. 27th April to 1 May 2020 – Dept of BCA organized a 5 day Digital
FDP on Python Programming in association with Skillary. More
than 35 students participated in the same from different colleges. E
badges and E-Certificates were presented to the participants
15. 28th April 2020 – Second Staff Council meeting held to get a status
update on Student engagement.
16. 28th April 2020 – Message sent to Parents and Students through
ipomo regarding various Student Engagement initiatives.
17. 29th April 2020 – Online feedback has been gathered from parents
and students regarding all our engagement activities during the
lockdown
18. 29th April 2020 – The English Literary Association Club observed
the International English Day ( Birth Anniversary of William
Shakespeare) and did a video mentioning the importance of English
language.
19. 29th April 2020 – A Virtual Model United Nations was conducted
with participants from various colleges ( attached is the list of
participating colleges)

20. 30th April 2020 – Online Feedback collected from students about
Faculty Members relating to the previous semester.
21. 30th April 2020 – A Webinar was organized by IQAC on the Topic
– Place to Space – An introduction to Online Learning. The resource
persons were Mr Arun Seetharam, Edtech Expert and Dr Pitamber
Polsani, Dean, Shrusthi School of Arts, Design and Technology.

22. 1st May 2020 – A whatsapp group has been created with a Faculty
coordinator to help students interested in competitive exams. All
necessary information and updates are provided through this link.
23. Research papers of two of our Faculty Members ( Mr Satish M D and
Mr Sri Hari) have been selected in UGC listed journals
24. Faculty members who have enrolled for Ph.D programmes are
working continuously in that direction and ensuring that this time is
utilized for research work.
25. Two of our Faculty members have completed courses offered by
NPTEL (Dr Ambika N)and also a short term course from University
of Leeds, UK ( Ms.Deepika.L)
26. Students have been given awareness on an ongoing basis through
posters and banners uploaded in our social media pages.
27. Website and social media has been updated on a continuous basis by
Website coordinator Mr Gokul C and his team.
28. Application for the new academic year 2020-21 is being received
through online portals and the same is being processed.
29. Our Student Aishwarya Rao of B.Com 2nd year has won Verbal
mention at IIMUN digital conference (Mumbai Summit). Lakshman
Prabhu a 1st year student had also participated in the event.
30. Two Students completed a certificate course in Supply Chain
Management and one student completed a course on Fundamentals
of Digital Marketing
31. With regard to Brand enhancement, with the video lectures and best
practices in place, our social media subscribers have increased
multifold. Our YouTube channel which had around 500 subscribers
now has 2300 subscribers thanks to all our video lectures. Same is
the case with our facebook, instagram and other social media. We
have also created a new linkedin page which has also got many
subscribers

32. The College reopened on 5th May 2020 as per the UGC notification
with a maximum of 50% workforce. The Faculty members (teaching
and non teaching) are checked for the temperature by the security
guards using forehead thermometer at the College entrance. The
students are still not allowed inside the campus. They are also
provided with sanitizers to sanitize themselves.
33. The Faculty members would be reporting for 3 times a week to
ensure there is enough social distancing and at the same time the
workflow is maintained. A time table has been provided to ensure
that employees report during the designated days and there is enough
backup for day to day activities. (Academic and non academic).
34. 5th and 6th May 2020 - There was a meeting organized on in which
the Principal highlighted the activities which were undertaken during
the lockdown and thanked everyone for their untiring commitment
and efforts to keep the academic boat sailing. He also discused the
action plan to move forward.
35. 12th May 2020 - The Faculty Members of Dept of Commerce
donated Provisions and other essentials to the House keeping staff as
a socially responsible initiative. Dr S Anil Kumar, Principal, SSMRV
College and Mr Gokul C, Member,IQAC also contributed to this
noble cause,
36. 12th May 2020 -The Student council under the leadership of its
president, Mr Mujahid also provided Provisions to Housekeeping
staff and washable cloth masks to everyone including faculty
members.
37. 12th May 2020 – Mr Gokul C, Asst Professor, Dept of Business
Administration and Member-IQAC along with Mr Srihari, Asst
Professor, Dept of Commerce conducted an FDP on the topic – New
Avenues in Online Teaching – Orientation Programme on Zoom
Classes and Google meet. It was organized by the Dept of Commerce
in association with IQAC. The session focused on how to make the
best use of these tools to conduct online classes effectively.
38. 18th May 2020 – A National level 4 Day Online workshop on
Preparation for UGC NET (Paper 1) has been organized by Dept of
Commerce in association with IQAC. It is open for Faculty members
and Students. The resource person is Mr S.Balamurali,Renowned
UGC-NET Trainer, Asst Professor, Dept of BBA, DA Vaishnav
College, Chennai.
