P&C NEWS Hello, and I hope everyone is having a good afternoon.

Last week, unfortunately, my perfectly crafted introduction article got cut off half way, so let’s start from here…

Get involved 2018 is set to be an awesome year and we’re already working on a new fundraising idea brought forward by a parent, which is going to be… awesome. More updates on Emmet visiting Ryde East in the coming weeks. (Apologies. Not actually endorsed by the brick maker.)

If you’ve ever had any brilliant ideas for an event or experience that the kids and our community would absolutely go for, then please let me know by using the form link:

You may have also noticed that the Ryde East Keep-Cups were for sale at a stall before assembly last Friday. This is in preparation for the next two weeks, where we are going to trial a community coffee van before Friday assembly, run by dedicated Year 2 dad, Nathan Moulds.

Nathan was recently acknowledged as Ryde Citizen of the Year, at a ceremony on Australia Day, for his tireless work for the Salvos and those less fortunate in our community, so please congratulate him on Friday when you bring your Keep-Cup for a discount on your coffee

My name is Chris Seeto and I have taken up the role of president of the P&C this year. I have two boys at the school, Archie in Year 2 and Rory in Kindergarten.

Throughout this year I’ll be sharing some of the improvements the P&C have contributed to the school, on our Facebook page. If you’re not already a member, go to https://www.facebook.com/groups/1061805343881836/ or search for “Ryde East Public School P&C” on Facebook. It’s a private page for REPS parents so make sure you answer the question about what class your child is in, and the administrators can approve you.

Thank you to all who are already contributing this year. Our first P&C meeting of the year is on Wednesday 28 Feb, from 7:30pm, held in the staff room. Look forward to meeting you there.

Chris Seeto P&C President

IMPORTANT CLASS PARENT INFORMATION Thank you very much to all of those who have volunteered to be Class Parents so far. We are not yet half way in filling these positions. I’ve listed the names below of our filled positions. You will see where many gaps need to be filled. Those classes with gaps will miss out on important information that gets sent down the line from the P&C Executive, our Principal or even at a class level. It is important to fill these positions as soon as possible.

Remember that we need 2 class parents for each class, and for composite classes, we need a representative from each year, so that our system works well. There are still many classes with NO class parent at all! I have heard from no one from year 6 at all, and the year 6 working bee is fast approaching!

If you can help out with this easy and extremely rewarding role, please contact me ASAP with your name, class and mobile number on

[email protected]. If your child is in year 6, this may be your last opportunity to be a Class Parent! If you are hesitating because you’re not sure what the role entails, call me and I can let you know how simple and fun it is!

SCHOOL BANKING

School Banking re-commenced last week, with information packs being sent out to all of our existing school bankers. The pack contains important information about school banking in 2018, along with the list of reward items for this year, plus redemption cards for completion once bankers are eligible for rewards.

Welcome packs will be sent out to our Kindy families this week.

If your child has not received a 2018 welcome pack, please pop into the office and collect one. Otherwise you can send us an email at [email protected] and we can arrange for one to be sent to your child’s classroom.

If you have any questions you can contact us at [email protected] or phone Elspheth Orlandi on 0402 850 044.

RYDE EAST OOSH A crazy week with so many children, lots of fun and great activities. This week we had many new kindergarten children join us at OOSH. We welcomed them with smiles and laughs and we are hoping that they all enjoyed their first week at OOSH because it was great meeting them all. They have spent the week exploring the indoor toys; building towers, making bracelets, reading books, playing pretend games and so much more. The craft theme this week was full of love in preparation for Valentine’s Day on the 14 February. The children created love hearts, lovebirds, butterflies and bouquets with such talent. On Tuesday afternoon of this week the children baked banana bread that was enjoyed for Wednesday morning’s breakfast, and delicious it was! The children also had hotdogs, crackers and dip and apple muffins, which they helped make, for some of their afternoon teas alongside the great range of fruit offered every day. The afternoons were, as usual, jam packed with activities including captain ball, tunnel ball, skittles, silent ball, the play equipment and skipping, just to name a few. What a great week we had at OOSH for week two, we are looking forward to the rest of the term with all the OOSH children, new and old. The OOSH website is www.rydeeastoshc.com.au
