Welcome to Saint Joseph Parish! April 12, 2020 www.stjosephmech.org Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord P ARISH TRANSFORMATION FOR EASTER SUNDAY, APRIL 12, 2020

This column brings you the prayers and Easter greetings of Father Rozman, Father Sahd, Deacon Paruso and the entire Saint Joseph Parish Staff. Be assured that our thoughts and prayers are with you, our Parish Family.

We are living in unprecedented and challenging times, with the pandemic and stay-at-home orders. This is not an easy time for anyone. We are so blessed that our faith assures us that we are not alone: Our Lord Jesus Christ, who rose from the dead and has power over any evil, illness or disease, is with you. Jesus promised to be with us until the end of time!

I hope that you have taken advantage of the virtual connections that we have been striving to maintain with you. Be it our parish website (www.stjosephmech.org), e-mail and social media sites like Facebook and YouTube, and phone calls, we will continue to remain in contact.

We are finding that we don’t always have a current email address on every family. This past week we starting reaching out via Constant Contact. If you have an email address registered with our parish, but have not received some of those emails, please make sure that you check your junk or spam email folders, and allow these messages to come through to your inbox. Our goal is to send such messages at the most once per week, as friendly reminders of events here, or with timely messages that will assist you on your spiritual journey. If you do not have an updated email connection with our parish, would you mind providing it to us, so that we may keep you apprised of what is happening at your spiritual home? Please either e-mail [email protected], or leave a message at 717-766-9433, ext. 114 with that information. Email is the easiest way to stay in touch with you during this unpredictable and unprecedented time. And, invite other members of your family, whether they are parishioners here or not, to sign on to our Constant Contact listing. If you do not have access to e-mail, but still have a question or a need with which we can help, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at that above phone number.

Please know of our love for you, and our desire to help you stay connected to your spiritual family at Saint Joseph during this joyful season of the Church Year – EASTER. We say in the Mass that Jesus offered, at the Last Supper and on the Cross, His Blood, which will be poured out for YOU, and for many. He gives YOU His life, and we want you to know that, through our parish family, you are connected to the life that Jesus offers.

Please let us know if you have any questions, or if we can assist you in any way. This is not an easy time, but it is a time that demands that we stick together as a family. We are all blessed to call Saint Joseph our spiritual home and to be united spiritually as a family of faith during this challenging time. May God bless and protect you and your families, and may He send you His peace this Easter and beyond. Father Rozman and Father Sahd

My Prayer By: Lea, 7th Grade, SJS

Dear Holy Father, please heal all those who have

been affected by this virus. Bless all nurses and doctors who work all day and night,

risking their lives to keep our country safe, and for all those currently unemployed.

Keep in your heart dear Lord the military and all government officials.

May all the sick and their families be blessed by your glory.

Amen.

Prayer from Pope Francis: O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus' pain, keeping your faith firm. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen. Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of we, who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin. Amen.

Welcome to Saint Joseph Parish! April 12, 2020 www.stjosephmech.org Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord

In these days of social distancing, we need to know that we are still connected to our Church family. With that in mind, we have enlisted over 70 volunteers to call parishioners during the “stay at home” order. The majority of the calls are being made to those age 70+ and the homebound. The calls are intended to provide fellowship and to offer prayer.

So far the recipients have been very appreciative of this friendly outreach. And the volunteers are so happy to be able to “foster the presence of Christ” in this concrete way!

Rest assured, our volunteers will never ask you for financial information or anything like that, so you’ll know it’s not a scam. It’s just your family of faith checking in to let you know you are cared for!

New Communication Method from Father Rozman

In an effort to communicate more effectively with our parish family, this past week we started using a new e-mail process where we send information out to all parishioners’ e-mail addresses that we have on file. You should have received two such e-mails from Father Rozman over the past week. If you did not receive these e-mails and would like to be included in our mass distribution list, please contact the parish office, either by phone at 717-766-9433 or via e-mail at [email protected] with your current e-mail address and we will add your information to our database.

SPONSOR OF THE WEEKWe would like to thank:

EWTN Global Catholic Radiofor sponsoring an advertisement in our parish bulletin.

Please patronize the businesses that underwrite all of the publishing expenses of our weekly bulletin.

Here we are during Week 4 of learning at home. Students and teachers continue their lessons through virtual meetings.

The SJS students and staff thank all of you for your prayers and support and wish you a Blessed and Happy Easter! God bless you!

Trinity High School, like so many other buildings, is empty, but its work in passing along the faith, educating its students, and service to the community continues. While students have been working at home, uninterrupted, since the COVID-19 pandemic

closed schools, service to the community continues, especially in this time of great need. In particular, the school’s 3-D printer is producing 20 face shields a day for hospitals and emergency responders, and a student is working with a local engineering firm to produce more than 85 units a day.

The faculty, staff and administration continue to work hard to keep their students engaged in the classroom through a variety of digital means, among other things, and even put together a fun video to show their love for their students. Watch it at https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=646017565799356. In addition to the work of its dedicated faculty and administration in passing along the faith, Father Sahd is providing short daily videos to teach some small point of the faith to the students on the school’s social media pages. Join us!!!

We are happy to announce that we’re resuming our women’s group on Thursday evenings using Zoom video conferencing. Please email Mary Vukelich at [email protected] if you’d like to participate. You’ll see how your faith blossoms when you’ve got amazing, insightful, supportive, and funwomen as companions on the journey! Each week we listen to an episode of the Abiding Together podcast, then discuss how the ideas presented help us draw closer to Christ. We learn, we laugh, we pray — and we end each session refreshed and renewed in Him. Want a preview? Listen to the podcast for free using your favorite podcast

app (iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, etc.) or by visiting www.abidingtogetherpodcast.com.
